Most are using CS2. I'm not sure what program you use, so it may look different.

You can use a free trial of CS3 at the Adobe site: https://www.adobe.com/

(There are obviously illegal ways of getting CS2, but I'm not posting those ways.)

GIMP is a free program, but it's a more simple version of Photoshop. You just can't get to the degree of experience with GIMP as Photoshop does.

best advice you can ever have... play around with filters and crap, first of all press d on the keyboard which will set the colours to black and white, click filters then search through all of them until you come to clouds, pick it and then pick other filters and see what you can do with it, thats what i do

theres actually a way to do that. take a bunch of photos of yourself, in each photo you should be up against a bg that should be the opposite of the color your wearing. then put those images in photoshop and render ever single pose. just like mortal kombat :)

I use the 15px soft circle brush, randomly brush them into the background.

use different colors.

then use a 1 px pencil brush, randomly brush them around.

then i use the smudge tool, and use the default brushes, some with edges, and just smudge the hell out of them.

and then sharpen some parts.
