I'm nearly done with my Urahara costume (just need to do the hat and cane now)...and AWA's not till September...

T25 I found the easiest way to do the urahara hat is to find a white bucket hat and paint it. painting tape comes in a little handy even though it doesn't like to stick too well. as for the cane i am still hunting mine. I mean i looked into just buying one at the store, but the only wood ones have a rubber stopper on the end but I don't know about taking one of those off to paint the bottom. I'm afraid trying to take it off I'd mess up the wood. I am looking around at thrift stores before i mess with what i just talked about.

If you want to cosplay as Ichigo then you'll need to make a kimono top and hakama pants. There's a company called patterns of time that has a great sewing pattern for both these items. Just google the name and their site should come up - I think I paid around 15.00 for the pattern and it's super easy to make them.

here's the link to the page that has the hakama and kimono pattern. They also have other Japanese clothing patterns. Great company to buy from, I had no problems.

After looking at the patterns - they seem to have changed a bit. You may need to purchase the kimono and hakama one separate. I notice the hakama pattern says nothing of the kimono top but instead includes a pattern for kataginu.

At 5'2" you'd make a great Rukia. You could always do a temporary dye job on your hair....

To tell you the truth it's a lot more fun making your own costume then buying something that is already prepared and stuff. It takes away from the fun, well that's what I like to think. Because I'm not spending that much money for something that I'am probably going to only wear one time.

If anyone does a Shinigami uniform make sure you make a juban with the kimono or at least a white trim that doesn't overlap weird. The juban is like a white under shirt for kimono and uwagi. I've seen a few Shinigami costumes with the the white trim sewn on to make it look like a juban is being worn (nothing wrong with that), but the white crosses over the chest further than the neck of the kimono which would be impossible for a juban to do. don't have pics of sword yet, just had a friend volunteer to make it who is gonna have it done in under a month while doing 4 other cosplay weapons for other people. I need to get a non expensive pattern for a hakama. I've seen the $20 sumthin one online, but for me that is way too much to pay for a pattern. I've never paid more than $3 for a pattern in my life. If I just had that pattern I'd be willing to make shinigami costumes for people like asian who want to do costumes but don't know how to sew or like others who know just a little bit of sewing. I've got a kimono pattern I got for $2 that I used to make a piece for Urahara, but american pattern companies can't make a bloody hakama pattern it seems.
