help on renders

okay,
I downloaded some renders from some ssites and I wanted to open tem in photoshop but then I get the message:
could not cmplete your request the file-format module cannot parse the file.
what to do?

eh...sometimes it does that (well just once for me)...i believe what i did..was open it in microsoft image editor and then re-save it as a different type of file...(hopefully one that supports transparency, but if its a fairly good render (that can be easily cut with the magic wand tool) then go ahead and save it as a jpg)...lol...
