Hi, I'm a new member of Club Bleach, and I just want to say why I think Bleach is, well stunning. This may turn out to be quite a long story...

My University has a P2P sharing programme, and one day, I managed to pick up the first episode of Bleach. Now, the only reason I did was because I had heard of it via the Nintendo DS game that had been previewed in a magazine I had bought earlier this month. Anyway, for a few days, the episode sat, unwatched, on my hard-drive until I had nothing else to do, but watch it.

Wow.

Never before had I been that impressed with an anime series. I do like anime movies (Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Steamboy etc), but I felt anime series' had always lacked the imagination of the movies. Not this one.

As soon as The Day I Became a Shinigami was over, I googled Bleach, and found bleachportal.net - and within a week, had seen all 79 episodes. Now, this is good because I am as up to date as I can be, but bad, because I have to wait a week for the next episode :(

So... yeah. I'm very happy.

Oh - one question, does the manga follow the same storyline, and is it further ahead?

Undying

It is further ahead. As has been stated many times (though thou, as a newcomer, wouldn't know of that, which is why thee is forgiven :p), since the anime is the Manga adapted and animated, it has to be further ahead (or the anime will have nowhere to draw it's story from). The current arc of the anime, A.K.A the Bounto Arc, is a filler arc - meaning it has no actual connection to the original storyline - the one that the manga follows.

If you nejoyed the anime thus far, I suggest that you also read the manga - at least untill chapter 182 (which is the equivelant of the last non-filler episode: 62, I think), to discover more - and obviously to see what is the original stuff (yes, the Manga is the origin of the anime, that means: if anime is good, normally manga is way better, except Neon Genesis Evangelion).

At any rate... enjoy Bleach, and Club Bleach (no spamming, though!)

Yes due to the fillers which started around ep 63(?) the manga story is further ahead. I hope they won't change anything after the fillers will end.

edit: d'oh Undying was faster ><

Thanks for the lenghty (and forgiving) post, Undying. I was a bit wary at reading the manga, because I thought it may ruin the anime series, but I may just give them a look now.

Again, cheers.

Interesting to see, that still absolut newcomers are joining the Bleach Community!
Its easy to see, that bleach really is an outstanding anime (the fillers not considered)!

If you want to know what happens in the main story arc, you can read the manga starting chapter 183, which continues from where the anime left off...

in one week got 79 eps?? amazing.

that's what happens when a relative "newcomer" starts watching something new. when i first started watching anime (Hajime No Ippo), i finished watching the series in about 5 days during a spring break holiday.

05-13-2006, 07:52 AM
how many episodes did you watch a day??
that's not a big deal anyway, the big deal is dowloading it, how can you dl that fast??

it wasn't too bad........10-11 episodes a day........excluding the movies that were part of the series. it wasn't really an issue since, again, it was during a spring break. fortunately for me, a friend gave me all the episodes so i didn't have to download them. but now it's bleach that i've been downloading them on my own.

Bleach is really easy to get hooked on starting from episode 18 or so, since everything is connected and one thing leads to the next. Also, the fights and suspence scenes are awesome too. At first, it may seem just to be another show about high school kid with special powers, but the addition of SS characters really brings in a lot of interest. When I first watched Bleach, I watched the first 20 episodes or so casually, and then went on a splurge and pretty much finished the next 50 episodes in a couple of days. Even right now, when I find something that really interests me, I tend to go on marathon runs, it's quite a lot of fun :P

I wish I could download faster!!!

My friend gave me up to episode 53 and I watched them all in 4 days (I called in sick at work to do it ;) ) That’s how I got into Bleach… I have yet to get into the 60’s, and me work bandwidth is not an easy thing to handle, so I have to be patient, but yep I can relate. What else can be expected from an anime of this quality? :D

I agree with this, Bleach is awesome. I've never watched such an interesting and cool anime... Well is the best on his topic. Shinigami world has never been developed by this stunning way. Good for Kubotite-sama!!!

Fillers aside, bleach really is great - it was the first anime I watched, and I watched 57 episodes in 2 weeks (which doesn't sound that impressive, but considering I had school every day...).

Not sure if anyone got to answer this for you already but an arc is basically a section of the story. If you were to split Bleach into arcs, the first arc would be the section of the story where Ichigo and Rukia do their shinigami work on earth, the next arc would be the next part of the story which takes place in Soul Society which is basically Ichigo trying to save Rukia, following that would be the filler arc about the Bountou.

And if you're wondering what a filler is, a filler episode is an episode that was not created by the original creator and only really serves the purpose of buying time for the manga storyline to get farther ahead than the anime (because whatever you see in the anime was already drawn out as manga) and it has little to no real relevance to the main storyline. The bleach fillers have not come to an end yet and episodes 64-80 and on are fillers so far, but it gives time for the manga to get ahead so we will be able to see a full arc of non-filler episodes.

Oh yup, thanks!
Why don't they just stop creating bleach episodes until the manga has caught up then? Meh.. just wondering.. personally I'd prefer that they didn't stop it:)

I assume they didn't stop Bleach anime and instead went on filler is because Bleach is earning them money...

I think they should have stopped it at episode 64, then re-started it when the manga got far enough ahead. I stopped watching the anime after about the first 5 fillers, because they're so boring, but I'm afraid that I might miss something if I go back to it when the fillers finish without watching the fillers, so I may end up stopping watching it altogether.

I think that the manga is way better! When the manga have the vaizards and the anime has the bountos, I think that the manga totally kicks it's butt! At this point, even thought the manga is o short, I can't wait for it to come out! I just love the manga right now.

I first went through all the Bleach manga and then started watching the anime from episode one. Just from the few episodes I've watched I've already noticed that the anime creators have completely rewritten Orihime's relationship with Ichigo. In the manga he considers her a close friend whereas in the anime the writers make it a point that she's just a casual acquaintance. I'm not sure why they chose to do this when nearly everything else in the anime is the same as the manga.

I can see more new bleachers on here... especially after it airs on Adult Swim. Anyway, the first episode didn't impress me that much, but it was still very interesting. As I kept on watching, things keeps getting more interesting. Kubo is great at throwing in points of interest and significance into the story. I was worried that this anime will turn out as Ichigo vs. Hollow. Few episode later... this became one of my favorite anime. I'm glad I decided to stick through the first few epsiodes.

Most of my friends stopped watching after the first 2 episodes, but I convince them to stick through. And now, they are bleachtards. :)

Fillers aren't that great compared to manga... this is a given fact. At least, they give us something to watch while the manga moves ahead. They need to air episodes in order to maintain their rating and time slot. A break would be a bad decision. One nice thing about fillers, is that they give the lesser characters a chance to shine. More spotlight is always welcomed for a Soi Fong fan like me. I just hope they don't ruin the lesser characters too much.

Yeah, Bleach starts off slowly and then it takes flight. Now if we already go on comparing the Bleach anime and manga, what annoyed me most ware the ommited explanations, about Quincy powers, about relationsips etc. etc. That's why the filelrs mess so much - they actually ruin the fundamental difference between Shiniagmi and Quincy, which totally ruins the "why do they hate each other" drama.

You're right about the Bleach pacing. It is awesome... it keeps getting better and better... Until it hit fillers.

I don't read the manga... but I would be pissed too if they killed Kubo's hard work. I'm already kind of annoyed at the filler. You must be 100x more annoyed... just about ready to burst veins. :D

At least, this will make the manga seem a trillion times better when it returns. I'll even break open the champagne to celebrate the return.
