Edit: Please note, I posted this directly after having seen the advert, and therefore had not yet taken the time to research the subject. This is explained in my next post, where I put everything said here into a more understandable context.
----------------------------------------------------------------

I saw an advert on TV today for a magazine which features an article which questions whether "baby bumps" are going to be this summer's new big thing in the fashion industry. wtf?

I was appalled at this....I mean seriously. Unborn children are the next fashion accessory??!? Has western culture really become so vain, materialistic and shallow that we are now categorising other human beings as fashion items? I know people have technically done this for years......But this is on a completely different level. This is sick, especially considering the worlds current problems with over-population.

Well. I guess we have exhausted everything else from cowboy boots to puppies with diamante dresses and frikkin "doggles".

you sir, need help. fashion has always involved human beings, and a model is basically a walking cloth hanger. fashion changes every year, and fashion has involved many interesting and weird things. but in general, its good to see them outright making fashionable clothing for pregant woman for once. it dosnt mean the world is overbreading itself, and furthermore, u do not have to follow fashion.

The advert I saw did not seem to be for the promotion of fashion for pregnant women.....It seemed to me that it was presenting *pregnancy itself* as a fashion accessory. It is this notion, this idea to which the advert intimates, that I find disturbing.

Having done some research into the subject I have found that the advert I saw was in fact to do with an article which involves the promotion of fashionable clothing for pregnant women. I woud like to make it clear that I have absolutely no problem with this whatsoever. I feel that pregnancy is a beautiful thing which should be celebrated, and the fact that the fashion industry is finally recognising this is good. However, I will not change my opinion on the way in which the television advert was presented.

Perhaps you would like to re-read my post and assess the context in which it was really meant before telling me that I need help.
