I'm shocked that noone has started a thread about DVC. The book is so addictive, I just got it yesturday and I'm more then half way through. THat's a new record for me! Anyways, what do you think about the book? How will the movie match up to the book?

Oh and the PHI(1.618) thing is total BS. I'm still pissed off about that. Divine ratio my ass. >.>

*edit*
Note that this thread is a discussion for the book itself, not the movie. The author Dan Brown and his other works can also be discussed here.

:O You sure there aint a thread about it? I've seen several threads talking about the book. anyways. I read it on 2 days (shocky enough) and i think it's the best book i've read in long times :O Angels and demons are better though ^^

Yes, the Da Vinci Code is indeed one of the best books I have read, finished it in 2 days as well, bout the movie, not so sure if they par up to the book but they are using the book as a reference

i read a PDF copy of DVC since i wasnt able to grab a copy of it..anyway, that was over a year ago. It took me about 2-3 days in front of the pc..reading the entire story..and it got me hooked since then.. cant wait for the movie:musak:

Ok sure i read the book in about 3 days... but seriously it wasnt all that hard of a read, it was really easy infact. and personally i think this book was a over hyped piece of crap that just repeated itself over and over, didnt have a surprise twist (i knew what was happening before it happened) and its prose... well it didnt really have any.

I think this book is like the friends of books. Friends was a show every one liked, that made rediculous amounts of money and it wasnt even all that great... this book was exactly like that...

the only thing this book had going for it was that it brought new theorys about the grail to the public eye... but these theorys were already published before hand...

overall i thought it was an ok adventure book, but seriously it was complete blah... and i would recomend a dozen other books before i even began to consider recomending this book.

I'm talking about the book, not the movie.

Has anyone read the other book? Angels & Demons? I say it is even better then DVC though it has a even more complicated plot.

I've read both Angels and Demons and the Da Vinci Code. Both I have to say are really good books. I found it to be more of a mystery style book than action, and yes the branding in Angels and Demons was creepy.

yea...i agree with nomadic_dragon..both books were good but to me i like Angels and Demons better...they are more interesting.both books are good anyway because both contains specific informations that gives me a clearer view if the story.both books were like..O.o...speechless to me.

I liked the whole concept of following the path and going to each location.

Although I did *gasp* when I found out who was behind it all.

Hmm, well Da Vinci code premiered worldwide, and the critics were really harsh. Sometimes I hate movie critics, they pick apart everything..Just enjoy the damn movie and stop being a tightwad..Oh well, its their job I guess.

I don't think this book was movie material anyways. It's an interest read but it's just soooo melodramatic and i fail to see how the big secret can devastate mankind.

hitsu i think it might be for religious ppl or ppl in the past maybe even though i was like ..that is the BIG SECRET comeon -__-

hmm...I never really took to the Dan Brown books. I read both Da Vinci code and Angels and Demons, but they both seemed a bit...mindless...they just seemed to follow a pattern of action->puzzle->action->puzzle and, while the villan was quite surprising, it never seemed to be that clever - just surprising.

well, dvc has some major flaws. how is the mary magdalene thing a secret when so many other people knew about it? And it got really predictable at the end even though I still have around 80pages left to read. Fache is the teacher, yes?

Which is the best, the book or the movie?

The movie has gotten lousy reviews so I can imagine the book is way better.

it was ok, I like it when they explained the ancient history, in a more personal way.
Tho I find it overated. I read it two times by now, plan to re read again.

You know I have to agree with this.

As good as his books are they are pretty much what I would call mind candy.

Great reads, fun while they last but not very filling.

I have read 3 of his books Angels, Di Vinci and Decption Point.

They all were almost the same, good fun but not very filling.

Like I have said else where if they were to have picked Angels to be the first of his books made into a movie it would have been better.

I didnt pick it at first...I dont think its that easy, but once you get around to the last quarter or so you know that a powerful new character isnt likely to be introduced so one must begin suspecting ones we already know...

If it were true that secret would devastate the world. Look at all the damage it is doing when its just fiction :/

It's true the book is overrated. And it's true it is fiction. But lots of people believe in those kind of crap anyway. I read somewhere the Louvre Museum and that Church where the supposed 'Line of the Rose' is got flooded with tourists all of a sudden just because of his book.

Also. No movies can ever match up to the book. It's never going to happen. If the movie is as good as, or even better than the book itself, nobody would bother to read the book at all. And that is bad. For book sales.

NEver in this lifetime will movies match up to the books they're based on. Except maybe for boring Biographies and Autobiographies movie crap.

I thought it was a pretty boring book with stuff that wasn't new or exciting, nor was Dan Brown's writing style really that great in my opinion. Ofcourse, I think J.K. Rowling is an over-rated hack, so you may want to take my words with a grain of salt.
