i read the entire series 3 times or so ^^ have all the books except the last one... c.s. lewis is a great writer!!
Aah! I love the Chronicles of Narnia! My favorite would have to be the Magician's Nephew though. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is basically it, but I don't know. I have a soft spot for Diggory and Polly. :3
Favorite books:
Howl's Moving Castle [Diana Wynne Jones], The Mediator Series [Meg Cabot <3], Harry Potter, awful cheesy romantic novels [same for me Hinatetsu!], and various teenage CRAP no one likes but MEH. =P
Favorite magazines:
Hm. I like fashion magazines and crap. Art magazines are always interesting, but I can never really get into something like TIME or something. At the dentist, though, I'll pick up a Teen People or something. :3
Manga:
Snow Drop, X-1999 and basically anything by CLAMP, Furuba, Ranma 1/2, Inu Yasha, and anything really by Rumiko Takahashi [<3], Hana Yori Dango, Yui Watase's works, X-Day, Kodomo no Omocha, and basically anything super cheesy, but not as stupid as Planet Ladder's ending. =P

I don't know if I have a favorite book. I just got done rereading The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman, which is the first book in the His Dark Materials series. There is another series that I'm in love with, although I just can't place my finger on the name of it...the first book of it is called Wild Magic and it is by Tamora Pierce. Both of these are great, and you must read them. I keep trying to think of a way to describe them, but I'll just take something away from it...just look them up online. (They are Science Fiction/Fantasy)

The movies are well made, i think, and i enjoy them alot, BUT so much more happens in the book and while there are no visuals to enhance the story, the books take more time with character and plot development!! hehe, im not trying to be pushy, i just think it's worth looking at coz it's a light read and enjoyable~
I guess that's the opinion i have about most manga... i think they're better than the anime almost all the time because of what i said ^.

New movie looks really good. I like the recent movies because they have more of a "darker" theme than the previous 2.
aya724
05-09-2005, 11:24 PM
yeah the books are getting way darker too... and so does Harry's personality. After all, J.K. Rowling got alot of claims when the 5th book came out that it was *too serious* or *too sad* or *too dark* and *unfitting* to be a children's book. But then Rownling defended herself by saying that Scholastic has categorized her book as a *children's book* but she meant to write her Harry Potter series for a much wider audience age level~

asian: the Da Vinci Code is about decrypting a hidden message that's left to a symbologist professor, and some of the messages are hidden in the Last Supper and the Mona Lisa and paintings in the Louvre. It's very art history-ish with alot of christian references, and a secret society. if you like mysteries/thrillers, it'd be a good read.
