Righto! What's your favorite SG film?

Me? It's either Nausicaa or Castle in the Sky, it's hard to decide.

Yes that was, I've only seen it once though.

That new Ghibli film sounds really interesting though, I think it's called Howl's Moving Castle. I can't wait for it to be released. I also want to see The Cat Returns.

Blood and gore? lol, while as exciting as that may be, there's more to anime than violence. ^^;; Though it does make anime interesting. Princess Mononoke had blood and gore, so did Nausicaa...well, a little. ^^

i think on the west blood and gore is a little to serious. hasnt been one show ive seen without some resemblence of violence or cursing.

i think thats why most of it wacth it, cause america deprives people from that stuff.

My friend is OBSESSED with Looney Tunes. o.O She gets seriously mad at me because I don't watch Pepe Le Peu (the skunk and the only character I like) 24/7. It's very...sad. I think that's why she's so closeminded. However...

You have no interest in Studio Ghibli then? I don't think they are quite as toned down as the Looney Tunes and "Rainbows" are. :)

Acutally, I heard that this is supposed to be Miyazaki's last film (don't quote me on that, it may be a rumor). And the plot IS a bit different, didn't you read the summery I linked? :P

one reason i like miyazaki's work is that he almost always has the two main characters fall in love. and even if they're in danger they always make it though, it's almost like hes saying love can oercome anything (beware the power of corniness!)

That's why I liked Castle in the Sky the best, because there's more romance in that one than his others. Even though they fall in love in his films, I wish there would be a more definate ending about what happens to them. Like Nausicaa and Aspel, we don't know if they end of together or not. In the end it's more friendship than love (and there is almost zero fanfiction for Nausicaa, so we can't turn to that).

i liked spirited away for the love thing, and princess mononoke still, cause ashitaka understood how san needed to stay in the forest but would still see her.

you could always make a nausicaa fanfic ^_^

Gah, I can't write serious fanfiction, I specalize in humor. ^^;; My serious fics always turn out bad.

I wonder if there's going to be any romance in the new movie though. I think it would be kind of weird since the guy is young and the girl is a young girl stuck in an old woman's body. It'd be like a 17 year old falls in love with an 82 year old, which is almost, but not quite as, scary as Toni Morrison's novel, Love. *shivers* Toni Morrison scares me, how she won the nobel prize, I'll never know.

uzichida-its about a girl that ends up in another world with spirits and her parents turn into pigs and she has to work to resucue them or else they get eaten and get back to her real world.

I don't understand how Kiki's and Spirted Away are more popular than his better films. Don't get me wrong, I love Spirted Away, it's my first Ghibli film, but you have to admit most of his others are better.

Knows most of Howl's Moving Castle. That would be ME. =P

But, you know, I am totally not "bragging" or anything. I adore it. Miyazaki has brought the fantasy novel by Diana Wynne Jones (one of my favorite authors) to LIIIIIFE. It's so fantastic. Quite possibly, my favorite book of all time. And I'm still jumping for Disney (who is slow as an old fogey) to hurry up and release it.

So, until that wonderful overflowing mass of AWESOME comes out, my favorite Ghibli film just has to be.. Spirited Away and Laputa: Castle in the Sky.

Nausicaa was alright, but I didn't really enjoy.. the bugs. T_T;
And I've never FULLY seen Princess Monoke, but I'll get to it. Hee.

It's basically about this "chosen one" girl type who meets up with this peasant boy [Pazu] and together they find this lost "city/ castle in the sky" called Laputa.

SO SO SO, cool, man. =) And very cute and original. I love Pazu. He's a cutie.
