already have two monitors so i'll use newest for this unit or just network both comps to one not sure yet. yes theres no sound card i'll live with the onboard one for now.

this cpu starts at 3.4Ghz but with this board its easily OC'd to 5.0Ghz although i'll probably keep it running virgin for a long time unless theres a need to reach greater speeds.

why buy intel when conroe is about to come out in 2 months or so and AMD dual cores perform better than any intel out in the market atm?
i strongly suggest you just change to AMD. if you really want to overclock you would also get yourself an opteron.

for your OS drive you may be better off getting a raptor since it will be much much faster.
if you want to overclock you would want to invest in some better ram. you can only overclock as much as your other components can tolerate and pqi is more a budget brand. corsair or geil are good brands of ram you can buy to overclock with.

if i were you i would probably get a DFI lanparty + AMD X2 4200 instead. graphics cards atm are pretty equal so thats just preference.

your talking core duo 2 and ViiV chips I've looked at the specs and dont want the first generation of them the pent D 950 presler is 3.4Ghz
all the starter duo cores 1.8Ghz-2.49Ghz they will go up but by then my new comp will already be old.

heres a link to the first ones available:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?N=2010340343+50001157+1050719930&Submit=ENE&Manufactory=1157&SubCategory=343

half their potential has not been unlocked I wont pay 300$-600$ for a locked up chip when its first released.

and ya the PQI ram was an oops on my part i clicked the wrong link and wasn't looking. it will be corsair but the WD 250 hdd is a good one don't need raptor. like i said probably be leaving the system original for a while untill ive filled all its slots dual GC's 8gig ram...etc then if I need it I'll OC.

Just an opinion, i would get kingstons RAM jsut because its more stable ^^ and find a RAM with heat spreader on them

And I have that Zalman heatsink.... boy it is awesome it keeps the temp very cool and it looks awesome

and another thought, amd is supposedly "better", its jsut that everyone has been telling me that ^^

the RAM is good and there's plenty of cooling in the box to deal with it.

AMD would cost more than double to create the same system this is a dual core dual GC SATA system at 3.4ghz with the ability to OC to 5.0ghz

but the other thing that's keeping me with intel in this case is the components for this comp are all tried and definitely past the buggy stage.
AMD although has a much better FSB 2000+ vs 800/1066 has far more issues.
the problems that AMD owners run into range all over the spectrum of possibilities just look up the forums for AMD tech support while intel has a much greater number of user error issues less actual incompatibility issues and so on and as for outright failures more AMD components get sent back for replacement so in my opinion intel although it has a bit less going for it technically is more reliable and more likely to stay that way.
