this is about a bit of regulation the us govenment is contemplating called the net neutrality act. its currenly being lobbied against and will most likely not be put into law, as 98% proposed are not put into law.

i know by doing this, i am inadvertanly promoting it but i dont mean to i simply want to hear what others have to say about it.
from http://www.savetheinternet.com/=faq "
"The nation's largest telephone and cable companies — including AT&T, Verizon, Comcast and Time Warner — want to be Internet gatekeepers, deciding which Web sites go fast or slow and which won't load at all.
They want to tax content providers to guarantee speedy delivery of their data. They want to discriminate in favor of their own search engines, Internet phone services, and streaming video — while slowing down or blocking their competitors.
These companies have a new vision for the Internet. Instead of an even playing field, they want to reserve express lanes for their own content and services — or those from big corporations that can afford the steep tolls — and leave the rest of us on a winding dirt road. "
is this realistic? feasible? is this the intent of these big service providers or are they just trying to stave off new regulations in their sector? this is from a obviously bias site, it is propaganda, founded or not.
if possible, i'd rather just introduce the topic since, well, i dont really know what to say about it yet.
