Which kind of book type do you like??
Reccommend some books.

My fav. type is fantasy though sometimes it's hard to come accross ones that don't use the same tired plot that you've seen numerous times. Sword of Truth is a good series. Of course, Lord of the Rings is a good fantasy series(of which I probably do know more than you rohil!).

I vote Mystery. I love the feeling when I break the mystery before reaching the end of the book :D

Hmm I'm not really sure. I haven't read a a book for my entire summer vacation and it's unlikely I will. When school starts again I thnk I'll find out.

Gah! Impossible to decide, I like most of those options. I chose adventure, because that can encompass pretty much all of those things. It's a general thing, and always intereseting.

I like fantasy and adventure and others because fantasy gets my imagination going and adventure walking or other. Other is like suspenseful. But I hate reading the other kind. They make me fall asleep. how about you??

i like bildungsroman. ehh i guess it would just be fiction but a sub genre. (yeah i retained that day in english class heh). its like a comming of age thing but not just 'comming of age', but the protagonist develops though a jorney, mentaly, moraly, spiritualy like the catcher in the rye by salinger , to kill a mockingbird by harper lee , dicken's great expectations or  the adventures of huckelberry finn by twain. learning doesnt stop at any age unles you refuse to think and look where you havent before. i like a character that doesnt stay stuck in the same place but changes, or i should say, matures and comes to an understanding of something...maybe from my own inability to come to any understanding of anything lol.. another one idk if anyone would like is the fury by salman rushdie. that one is crazy, there is like 4 genres in that one...but its not for someone thats 12. i mean no offence to anyone who is 12 that might be here but i wouldnt have liked it when i was 12. its not for everyone at any age but tis worth mentioning i think. its the newest book ive read i think lol.
character definatly plays a major role for me when i read a story. a character driven plot is better than any plot that is simply uneffected by the character. although, one of my favorite books is the stranger by albert camus, and the character doesnt do anything except what actions fall in his lap.

There are so many types that i love...fantasy is nice, fiction says it all, and romance wouldnt hurt once in a while though it make me cry, lol. Mystery is also another favourite. Still, fantasy and fiction rules them all, except sci-fi. I so dont like sci-fis.

I voted fantasy. I personally read to avoid everyday life, therefor I love to read books that are as imaginative as possible. I also enjoy sci-fi books, but not if they are too technical. And of course, there has to be a bit of romance. :winking56

I like manga but thats different from a novel/book. Other then that I luv reading science fiction novels because they go beyond the borders of normal fiction and have the somewhat, thrilling yet scientific sotry lines and adventures. I also luv to read a good mystery book because they keep you wanting to read more and more. I just love the thrill of it and I luv suspense, so I get hooked quickly to a good mystery. ^^

And I don't really know why, but I prefer first person written books over third person. Probably because I get to know what that character is thinking and their own feelings... =/

So many choices... I picked 'historic novels' with 'mystery' as a close runner-up. There's just something about the setting which, if done right, really can lift the story.

LOTR isnt that long once you're hooked to it.

I think mystery and historical fiction are nice as long as the facts are not boring. I've read a few that are amazingly interesting and some which are plain boring (you can fall asleep right on the first page itself).

I like reading horror/fantasy/supernatural/adventure type of books. Lately i do not read but if theres a chance id drop by at the bookstore i immediately go to the horror/suspense section to browse on the books and see if it catches my interest. I really like reading about that kind of stuff probably because the supernatural or the beyond normal sightings and happenings have been my current interest thats all.

As the title states, what's your favorite genre(s) in reading?
Uh, for me I love all kinds of books. I love to read. ^^
My favorite genres would have to be fantasy, romance, mystery, and suspense. But if the book doesn't fit into any of those catagories, it has to have a good plot/story line for me to read it.
I don't think there is a thread like this around, but if there is I apologize. So lock or delete this if there is already one like this. ^^;;
