The long corridors,
with its white floors, ceilings and walls,
Are all that surrounds me,
In this empty abyss.
Haunting my senses,
the shadows of yesterday;
Haunting my memories,
the shadows of you.
Your shadow is ahead of me,
Though beyond my reach;
Yet I run as fast as I can,
For that person I wish to keep.
I saw you moving away from me,
Yet I stayed and stood my ground;
Until you were gone, was that I realised,
That such strong feelings were found.
Your shadow goes beyond a light,
And turns around to face me;
Just as I grasp that outstretched hand,
It evanesces away from me.
Suddenly all my surroundings,
From white, have turned to grey;
No more am I running for that shadow,
For that shadow does not remain.
They say time waits for no man...
I had failed to realise that neither does this.
