View Full Version : Is it possible to develop a system of drawing for blind people?

I think that maybe a system of bumpy paper and a blunt, inked stylus could be used to develop a drawing system that could be appreciated by both the blind and the sight blessed.
You see the bumpy paper can be used as spacial difference reference. The stylus has ink which can be registered by the human eye, and the stylus can inscribe a dent into the textured paper.
The ink would have to be quick drying, which i'm sure could be developed.
And the blind can literally feel the art.
Anyone got any improvements or a completely diiferent system?
Or is this damned to never work?

There is a blind typing/reading computer program already made tho. It was developed recently and I've seen it work. Tho ink and paper cannot make sounds. Man, did u know my current work is precisely on cell awareness whithout visual clues? I ask ppl 2 draw a cell not knowing it's a cell they'll draw and not giving any picture. Works great, but I wonder what would come out of blind ppl's drawings. No idea how they c the world, but u gave me a good idea for a next step ^^

Happy to have helped and i would really like some more information about your work. It sounds abso-bloody-loutely amazing.
More people should give blind people a helping hand.

Wow, thanks! My work isn't necessarily for blind ppl, cuz it's actually related 2 'knowledge construction', which affects us all. The main line is ppl's concepts whithout visual clues actually come up better resolved than using visual images. Images are somewhat deterministic, and in general students end up restraining their ideas 2 what the picture shows. But the 'reality' of a cell (since a cell is always a mind made object) is very variable, and simple drawings whithout explanation work against a preferable understanding of the subject. And as a matter of fact it could be a nice if this could b used someday for blind ppl learning development, even tho I was just trying 2 make a point when I started it, lol.
EDIT: I am also hoping 2 publish it in some periodical someday ^^

That would kick ass. I was going to publish some research about blood type-personality consistencies, but i don't really want to do the research. (Blood type testing kits are about £100!)
