View Full Version : Problems with photoshop
Okay, I have photoshop cs2 and recently, for some unknown reason, it's been going really really slowly. Four times out of five it crashes before it's able to open anything or start a new document.
I've tried allocating a 'high' priority to the process in the task manager, which doesn't help - it still crashes. Does anyone know what I could do?

It turns out that systems with more than 1 GB of RAM will have performance issues when running Photoshop. To make a long story short, the default settings when installing Photoshop CS2 is made for system with less RAM than 1 GB. So, what you need to do is to enable a plugin that will make better use of the RAM in your system.
1. Quit Photoshop if you have it open.
2. Locate the ~Bigger Tiles plug-in file - it is in Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS2/Plug-Ins/Adobe Photoshop Only/Extensions/Bigger Tiles
3. Rename the file, removing the tilde (~) from the file name.
4. Start Photoshop and you should see an improvement in performance.

don't change the priority for the program it will rarely help.
check that your not way over 50% used space
clear all temp files
in task manager look up all your processes and see if you need the biggest memory users if they are not important (make sure first) end tasks.
have you added a new virus or spyware scanner lately? these can be running in background without the task showing.
Sugoi! It works =D. Really thanks a lot to both of you. Don't know which one it was, because I did everything that both of you suggested, but thanks a lot anyway =D.

assuming you have over 1 gig of Ram the first sugestion may have been the trick what I suggested are comon slow down problems that a little regular maintenance like defraging will help keep the speed up.
