Like many mentioned before...

1. Art and Animation - I like how they draw the characters and the colors used. I also like how they switch to chibi versions when something funny is happening. :)

2. Story and Plot - The story and plot is very interesting and it is something different what we are used to here (in US). The costume/clothes in anime is top notch.

3. Violence and Ecchi - I want to see some blood and *cough cough* seem cleavages...

Whoa, well as for me ... some of my friends are into anime, most are not but that's alright. They playfully tease me about it but it's nothing serious. I'm the last person people would expect to watch anime, and when I suggest a show to someone they usually get bit by the anime bug too.

At home though, that's a different story ... my parents don't know much, so they just assume it's the same thing as spongebob. It really pisses me off when they disturb me about watching "cartoons", but they've given up ... I mean, I'm not changing for anyone.

I've never had any problems relating to anime truth be told, in fact even though I'm a full blown geek as it were being a player of World of Darkness RPGs (Hey, at least they're cool RPGs :redbiggri), I guess our country is more tolerant in that regard although not without it's faults although perhaps my combination of charisma, good-looks and an afro aided me through school. :winking56

I was brought up on a diet of Akira and the like and my mum is currently downloading and watching Bleach and Naruto, my dad hasn't watched a whole series since Full Metal Alchemist, but he still watches the occasional movies like Princess Mononoke, so I've never really had any hassle from my family.

I've always liked anime but it's never been as big an obsession as it is now, and I've never liked an anime as much as I like Bleach before.

The reason I like anime I suppose is because I like long, complicated plots, which anime has lots of, I like the way the pace can change so quickly from action to comedy to emotional back to comedy in a single episode, and of course, I like the art.

i'm still watching naruto. i think it's better than bleach in every factor except animation. The only big downfall of this show is that the anime just caught up to the manga too quickly and was forced to turn to fillers. Same goes for bleach except that it caught up to the manga even more quickly which is a damn shame cause we might have to endure more and more fillers.

Evangelion doesnt answer the questions for you to make you think about them and the deeper meaning behind aspects of the series. Finding the answer to these questions has kept my interest alive in this 26 episode and 2 movie series and remains my fav anime of all time.

Rahxephon is a great series, but when it answers all the questions for you it takes the fun out of guessing and I quickly lose interest in it.

Well,if you come to one of their boots at a con,you'll get a major discount. I got my Itachi lenses for 70 each instead of 200. Aint that the truth. Thats Eva will forever remain a classic and be seen by most anime newcomers, while in a few years Rahxephon will be one of those B type animes. Good but you will only see it when your out of other anime to watch at the moment.

well in my opinion EVA is better. and hey what can u do to a story when all the foundings run out before the serie is complete :P

and ppl who say u have to watch End of EVA and Death and Rebirth is just stupid, i mean i watched on those two eps and i was like WTF?? its no EVA style over the characters and Death and Rebirth gives u another ??????????? in the head when its done, so the alternative ending is crapier then the original.
And Btw is the ending in EVA made so u have to think out yourself what happened, u have to imagine yourself :P

The ending in Eva did make you think. Most people think that its just two eps of character analysis and although thats partially true theres alot more going on. The last two eps deal with what happens after Instrumentality. In ep 25 the characters are examining themselves in each others minds right (because they would all be fused together) and ep 26 was all about Shinji experimenting and accpeting the instrumentality.

The movie End of Evangelion provieded a more satisfactory ending for me. All of the character issues were resolved and Asuka got back into the action before her ehh...demise. But seriously you have to just love the part where Shinji decides not to accept instrumentality and Eva unit 01's wings spread. Its a moment of Awe.

Evangelion has no deeper meaning. Not even the creator can explain what it's about because it was spawned from his rather pathetic depression. How is it that every time the series goes under critical analysis it's ripped apart? Why does it employ so many different themes while never managing to weave them into a cohesive meaning or at least a plot? The series is one of the most overrated shows in existence.

Please don't try to explain the series to me either. I've seen it and the movies more than a couple times just to give the hardcore fans the benefit of the doubt. Well, I've come to the same conclusion every time. It was a promising series marred and knocked of course by its creator's breakdown. The series was obviously going somewhere in the first half, but then it went straight into the tiolet when he tried to make it into a analysis of human relationships, life, and beliefs. It's just a gigantic mess.

None of the fan sites can explain it either. They usually give a couple theories each while never truly hitting the mark, then they try to mull over this fact by saying "this is what makes the series so great!" No, this shows what a huge waste of time it is. Whatever meaning Eva was intended to have was lost because of the emo state Anno was in. It's funny how dumb people can make themselves out of defense for something they like.

Good luck downloading peacemaker, i've been trying for quite a while now. It's so hard to find a reliable torrent for that anime, which I think is mainly due to the fact that it has been licensed.

overall i think it was a pretty good anime. fights were fairly good although theres too much of the fast moving lines in the background style, and not enough actual fight animation. story was ok, except the Ying (or was it Yang) fighting style guy, where in the world did he come from? i might have missed it but from what i remember, he just appears and starts whooping everyone's @$$.

I would have to agree that the best samurai anime I've seen is Rurouni Kenshin including the OVAs and not including the Christian arc of the TV series.
Rurouni Kenshin is an anime from 1996 so its not really in the mainstream anymore but it was about as popular as Naruto is now and it kinda got crappy at the end of the series because it deviated from the manga. Like Naruto is doing now.
I've also seen these other samurai series but RK still wins out:

The first episode I saw of it was when these three people, 2 guys (an old man and a college student?) and a girl would try and kill themselves....but something would always go wrong. So they find little slugger and chase after him yelling at him to kill them ;P

You guys obviosly haven't seen Puni Puni Poemy. It's a 2 episode OVA series by none other than the great Nabeshin (Creator of Excel Saga). They said on the insert of the DVD that since it was an OVA they could do whatever the f*&% they wanted and they did. The main character (Poemy) constantly refers to herself as Kobayashi (The name of the voice actress) because she "Has trouble staying in character". I recomend it to all of you who are at least age 16+ because really otherwise there are some things in it that younger people shouldn't see.
There is NO more f---ed up anime in existance and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying.
