I dont get what you mean by "tight". Except for being vauge at points, the story was great. And I expect the Vaugness of stories in Japanese thigns, as most of thier movies are like this.

Yes, I know >.< I think I was blind when I made this post since I thought I was posting this in the gamer's section. I've actually been looking all over for this thread in the Gamer's section and could not find it. >.< Sorry, mods!

yay, ff7 wins. I actually don't play final fantasy for the game itself, i play it for the storyline. And ff7 had the deepest by far. Followed by ff10.

The more I rewatch certain parts of this series, the more I realize how mediocre it is..The series, however, is a perfect set up for a larger scale shounen, it's just too bad they stopped at such an akward place in the anime.

Even though Zombie Powder didn't do to well in Japan (or at least that's what I've heard) Viz is bringing it out to the states starting in September. The first volume will be available September 5, 2006.

Source: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=8535

If you don’t know, Zombie Powder was Tite Kubo’s first manga that was published. It only ran 27 chapters before Shonen Jump canceled it. I have all 4 of the volumes that were released in Japan and it is a pretty good series. Can’t wait for Viz to blucher… I mean translate it.

I haven't finish reading it yet. I bought it off ebay and it came with the translations on a CD. I'm not too fond of reading manga on a computer screen compared to print. It diffidently has a Bleach type feel to it. One of the characters from Zombie Powder reminds me of a character in the Bleach Manga (which shall be unnamed due to spoiler). Basically it's a futuristic Western, has kick ass weapons just like in Bleach, and has the same darkness to the plot with the same type of Bleach humor.

Here’s a short summary I found:
“John Elwood Shepherd is a 13 year old pick pocket. He has his reasons, and very good ones. One day, while doing his every day job, he meets this flashy, strange looking person who is looking for the 12 Ring Of The Dead, Rings that create the: Zombie Powder; so powerful that they not only bring back some one that has been dead, but they can also empower a living person with Immortality. This person is Akutabi Gamma, a person so dangerous that has a bounty on his head for the amount of 960,000,000 niits. They all have their plan for the Zombie Powder, so they set forth in a journey that will be everything but easy.”

CanAm Anime Exchange?
Well, the CanAm Anime Exchange will help Anime fans around the world get the anime that is licenced already.

What the...?
Many anime corporations seem to forget that Canada is it's own country and thus they don't think to licence anime in Canada.

Okay... is this legal?
Certainly. As long as it isn't licenced in Canada.

Wait a minute, Canada is it's own country?
*sigh* yes, Canada is it's own country.

Is this going to be in French?
We plan on making a French version but we are sticking with English at the moment?

How much space does CanAm have available?
We have 7TB of space available once we open.

Will CanAm run out of bandwidth?
CanAm is run at some of the most bandwidth generous, connected buildings in Canada. These buildings are seperated throughout the provinces and are wholly owned in Canada. Our primary datacenter is located at prestigous 151 Front Street West in Toronto, Ontario.

I want to thank EVERYONE who meantioned "Seven Samurai" in this thread. I loved that movie, I just finished watching it! It's like an anime in almost every single way... but it's RL characters!!!... And it's in Black and white!!!... And I freaking loved it!!!

Glad you liked it! (^_^) Akira Kurosawa did a lot of samurai movies that inspired the samurai anime you see today. Yojimbo, Ran and Rashomon among others are some of his greatest works so feel free to check them out to find the samurai stereotypes we know and love.

I voted for FFVII because of the great storyline, characters and gameplay. I've played thorough 9 and there is not much about it that sticks in my mind as great. I've tried my hardest to at least give 8 a shot but I just couldn't stand having two other characters following me around on screen, getting stuck on ladders, getting lost and just plain getting in the way. The story was fine but the one saving grace of that game was the ending. FFVIII has the GREATEST ending sequence of ANY FF game, hands down. I didn't finish the game myself but my friend did and we still turn it on from time to time just to watch the end.

I haven't played through FF 1-6 because I didn't own my own console but I played enough for me to get hooked on the FF series.

GTO is one of the greatest comedy anime out there because despite his 'I don't care about rules' attitude, he really cares about his students. And how can you not like Sorimachi Takahashi as the real life GTO? He's a famous j-pop singer and he sings the opening song, Poison. *sigh* Speaking of hot actors, the poster that Fuyutsuki sensei has on her wall is of Takenouchi Yutaka, another hot J-drama actor. (^_^)

When the distribution companies stop ripping us off with 30$ dvds, and anime stores stop selling illegal Taiwanese/Chinese products then I will gladly buy anime dvds.

Also It's called Ueki no Housuke in japanese version
Junior High School student Ueki Kosuke has a strange ability: he can turn anything that he believes to be garbage into a tree. This ability was given to him by his homeroom teacher, a man named Kobayashi. Ueki manages to keep his ability a secret until one day when his classmate, Hori Ai, finds out about it. .Mori initially had been following him in order to debunk his true character, but begins to help him when she sees the sacrifice he must make to use his talent..

Ueki soon finds himself embroiled in a battle of 100 participants, one of which is his teacher, Kobayashi. Each of the participants in the tournament must choose a champion from their students and give them a special ability, as Kobayashi had to Ueki. The abilities that were chosen, such as the skill to turn a towel into iron, give the student receiving it a better chance of winning the tournament. The participants in the tournament must then make their student champions fight each other. Whoever student wins will become the next "god", and. his student will receive a "blank ability" that can become any ability at all..

Or in the U.S., Case Closed. Anyone watch it?
"Kudou Shinichi is an extremely popular 11th-grader who dreams of being the world's next Sherlock Holmes. As the son of a famous mystery novelist and lovely actress, Shinichi has made a name for himself as an amazing detective, always helping the police solve mysteries much like his idol Holmes. This obsession with crime-solving tends to get on his childhood friend Mouri Ran's nerves. She can't help but feel a bit threatened by Shinichi's dangerous lifestyle...and by the popularity it brings. So she jumps at the chance to get Shinichi alone on a "date" to an amusement park where, much to her dismay, a murder occurs. However, when Ran and Shinichi split up for just a short time, Shinichi witnesses a suspicious negotiation between two mysterious men in black. He is caught eavesdropping, and is hit from behind by a third person and is poisoned by the two men and left to die. However, rather than killing Shinichi, the poison reverts him back into an elementary school boy! Bent on finding the mysterious men in black again, and discover a cure to the poison, Shinichi takes on the name Edogawa Conan and lives a double life in order to keep his survival a secret from those that poisoned him. He is taken under the care of Ran and her father, Kougoro, a burnt-out, divorced detective who is past his prime. On the road to finding those mysterious men in black, Conan and his friends solve case after case, all while keeping his true identity a secret."
I've watched up to 90 so far (subbed).

All you need is a broomstick, some cardboard, tape and some bandages. Take of the broom from the broomstick. Make a rectangular shape with your cardboard. Tape it. Then make a little triangular cone with whatever's left and attach it on top. Finally, wrap the whole thing using the bandages you have and viola! You are done :)

styrofoam will work well too instead of cardboard, "cuz you can stick your into it instead of taping it to the cardboard. home improvement stores carry large sheets. or, how i've done renji's shikai, is with foam. the kind in squares people use on floors. i made two sides and hot glued and duct taped a long piece of wood from the top to the bottom of the hilt for stability. i have to use two hands to hold it, but it's sturdy at 5 feet long!

I saw the entire Gundam Winga nd loved it.

Then I downloaded Gundam Seed last year, saw 3 episodes, thought it sucked... deleted it.

Last month I downloaded Gundam Seed Destiny, was boring... now after a month I reached eps 5 and I like it now.

Question: Do I need to watch Seed before Seed Destiny? there is seems to be no character developpment, well I mean the characters are already developped and I'm wondering if this is a continuation from Seed.

Also, who has watched all/most gundams? I'd like to know your top picks and recommendations.

Finally, any place where I can download all opening and ending songs from each Gundam Series?

Thanks in advance!

I never watched Gundam Seed but i watched Gundam Seed Destiny to episode 42 and its awesome. And i think you need to watch Gundam Seed because you dont understand all the facts between Coordinators and Naturals when you never watched it. The beginning of Gundam Seed Destiny is a little bit boring but its getter better and better with every episode.

St1ckBuG

Destiny takes place after Gundam Seed.

They use the same characters and events from Gundam Seed in Gundam Seed: Destiny.

So my answer would be yes. Watch the original before Destiny.:winking56

ChansteR
03-18-2006, 05:20 AM
Its not all A MUST but highly recommended since the characters are all introduced in Seed and it reveals a lot of the stuff that is said in Seed Destiny that is not explain like "ultimate coordinator" or other stuff

I on the otherhand has watched like majority of the series and I recommend Z gundam if you can find it

Watch Seed first if you already have it, there is no point in watching the sequel before watching the first series because in the end, you will get kinda confused. OH, the beginning of the first episode of Seed Destiny is like a different point of view in another episode in Seed

sto67
03-18-2006, 06:27 AM
seed destiny is not worth watching. too little character development and too many repeated scenes.
seed is alright, it was actually nicely planned out, but it does suffer from recycled scenes as well.
i have to say i really hated destiny, even after i saw the whole thing. there were parts which i just wanted to skip forward and/or pull my hair out because shinn was so annoying. some things didnt make sense either which made it even more frustrating.

Byakuya7
03-18-2006, 06:28 AM
It's recommended that you watch seed then seed destiny, although I wouldnt even recommend the gundam seed series, its terrible in my opinion. Now G Gundam is where it's at, if you want an action packed gundam series with a decent storyline.

03-18-2006, 06:31 AM
^im with marke, samurai champloo was so much more artistic and thoughtful. the style was unique and choreography brilliant. kenshin is more conservative and built upon character development and storyline. i personally liked champloo more because it brought so much to the viewer =]

Hmmm...I was actually wondering why you liked GSD more than Gundam seed...GSD sucks for me...

If you want to get boggled with the whole coordinator-natural issue, then watch Gundam Seed before watching GSD...I don't see any character developments either, except for Cagali, who went from uber cool to drastic...their Gundams evolved as expected, but the plot sucked...especially the ending! Argh....how I hate it...and there are so many unnecessary (annoying) characters too...take for example, Mia Campbell, Stellar Louissier and Lunamaria Hawke..*sigh* I could rant on forever...

I watched the 4 gundam sagas (Gundam G, Gundam Wing, Gundam Seed, Gundam Seed Destiny)...my favorite, of course is Gundam Wing..I liked Gundam Seed too, because its plot is more comprehensible (though a little bit complicated) and futuristic...

Anyway, try searching the songs in Gundam Seed Online Forums...I was a member of it before...but I forgot the link...^^

If you don't have the patience for a 50 episode series, download the original Gundam movie trilogy. That's where the good stuff is. Once you see that, get your hands on 0080 and the 08th MS Team (0083 is optional). After that, check out the Zeta Gundam movie trilogy. Two are out so far, the third one will probably get subbed in a month or two (The Zeta trilogy came out last year/this year).
Now listen. Gundam was made in 1979, the trilogy a couple years after (The trilogy had new footage). Zeta was made in the mid-eighties. The animation may be old by now (ESPECIALLY Gundam's), but it's STILL GOOD. Zeta's is still pretty goood, considering how plain awesome mid-80's anime tended to look. Oh, also. After that, feel free to skip Double Zeta and watch Char's Counterattack.
Tomino's stuff is the best. Wing sucks, SEED is decent, Destiny -blows-. Seriously I hate it more than Wing. That takes a -lot-. That's because the minute Kira gets back into the picture, he becomes Jesus Yamato and can do no wrong, and totally effs up the plot.

Oh please, do me a favor and don't bother to watch GSD. It disgraced Gundam SEED which I liked. Yeah, the "review peisodes" were repetitive. Especially if you were watching it on TV and waited a week just to get a stupid review episode.

GSD was kind of just a hook. Everyone thought, when it came out, it would have a fresh plot but just took a little later from its previous series. I thought they might focus on Shinn but then they started to edge over to Athrun and Kira. So, in a way, you do need to see SEED if you want to really understand GSD. Read a couple of reviews on GS if you don't like so you just got a short synopsis on what went on during it.

Pokemon, Getto Da Ze!
I saw all the banned episodes a while back when I was a young Pokemon Trainer... ehh anyway the most it can do to someone who isn't epileptic is give you a headache. The only parts it has problems is when the background flashes red and blue, which is throughout the episode but not constantly during the episode.

I have to give pokemon a lot of credit because otherwise I may have never started watching anime.. also this pokemon opening is the first Japanese song I had ever heard and I thought it was so awesome. The first pokemon season was kick ass… after that it just keeps repeating itself.

Man it’s been almost 10 years since the anime started in Japan… I feel old.

This is one of my all time favorite animes, I have the complete set on DVD and watch it whenever it comes on T.V. Just the storyline and the character developments keeps me interested. You have to admit when you watch a series more then once, it's good. Now! For my favorite character that would be Wolfwood. He has a dark past, a good kind personality, and he is only doing what he is doing because he is being threatened. He has humor, he has a big serious side, and an even bigger heart. Specialist in guns and Rookie in God, he really makes an impact on me, especially when he died. As for Legato Bluesummers he is a member of the Gung Ho Guns, the physco with the blue hair. He is probably most recognizable by the fact that he can control other's bodies. Also his costume is pretty easy to identify, big white coat with a fat shoulder and spikes on it.

Well, one the things that annoys me is overpriced anime. Some stores here in Europe have popular anime but they ask 30€ for a 3 episode DVD.
30€ would nearly get me the Onizuka first season box...it's absurd.

In toonami there showing the Miyazaki films such as Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, and Nasicää of the village of the wind. This thread is basically to discuss the films as they come.

Who here saw Spirited Away while it was in the theaters?

Only seen Spirited away. I heard Castle In The Sky Was bad but I never have the chance to watch it. Spirited away is meh, not the type of genre I would watch.

Although I have watched like 10 eps of GTO, its a really funny anime. There is a bit of action. It was so cool how he introduced himseld to the classroom. I would recommend this anime to others.

Oh man, who DOESN'T love CLAMP? I mean, their storylines are so complex. Art, character development, plot, and over all themes--they're incredible.

Of all of their works, I am most partial to:
X-1999
Cardcaptor Sakura
Magic Knight Rayearth

but I've seen/read: Tsubasa ReseVOIR Chronicle, WISH, CLOVER, Miyuki-chan in Wonderland, Angelic Layer, Chobits, XXXholic, The One I Love, Man of Many Faces, and CLAMP Detectives.

And as much as I appreciate their abilities to incorporate so many of their characters crossing over into other series, for the most part, it's a pain in the butt to take in. I mean, I love Tsubasa ReseVOIR Chronicle, but I was so disappointed in the anime, and the manga just got really tedious after awhile.

But other than those petty details, CLAMP wins my heart. =)

Ah-ha! Here's the topic I was looking for.

Cartoon Network recently obtained rights to show Miyazaki's films, but Turner Classic Movies SO beat them to the punch. In the month of Janurary, TCM showed 9 of his films every Thursday night. Unforunately, I caught on during the last Thursday, and I still managed to miss it, so I'm really thankful for this rerun (so to speak). =)

And..while I didn't get to see Spirited Away in theatres, it's probably the best of Miyazaki's films (maybe not my favorite). I've also seen:

Howl's Moving Caslte: which was disappointing, but since it was Miyazaki's verison, I still like it alot.
Princess Mononoke: Great message, overall theme, and storyline. <3
Nausiicaa of the Valley of the Wind: bugs, meh.
Kiki's Delivery Service: my least favorite, but I still appreciate it.
Laputa: Castle in the Sky: which right is probably my favorite at the moment. We were talking about in mIRC earlier, and I got really nostalgic. =3

And it isn't bad--far from it, actually. Everything about Miyazaki's films is just magical and amazing. Laputa should NOT excluded.

Yeah I used to love CCS, but then I stopped having that channel so I've never watched it, but I loved the anime from the few epsiodes I've seen. Anyways, now I'm reading + watching Tsubasa Chronicle and I love it! I love their storyline the most. Not very likely I would watch something mostly on romance and fantasy, and a bit of comedy.

Yeah.. :( I was disappointed with it because I read the manga (there was a translated one which I costs for about 9 dollars I think...) and it's a nice read IMO...they killed the plot by waking Sakura up in the 2nd episode when it's too early for her to make an appearance...LOL~ I hate it really... >.<

YuYu Hakusho(because they say its an old anime and the colour suck etc.)

back whne Yu Yu came out, it was the second biggest anime in japan. (after DBZ) maybe underrated here, but definately not there.

And i agree 100% with GTO.

G Gundam's awesome. It's a parody of Super Robot Anime and Shounen shows like DBZ. It stands on its own well enough plot-wise as well.

This topic is for discussion on anime series that are going to be released in 2007. You can express your thoughts, concerns, or opinion on these various animes. And, if you find an anime that is not on this list, just add it. So far these are the first anime series of 2007, but it is subject to change, once new info on more series is released.

Saint October (http://www.konami.jp/mm/saintoctober/)
Highlander: Vengeance
Red Line
True Tears (http://www.broccoli.co.jp/sp_anime/index_anime.html)
Metal Hazard: Dreams and Phantasms
Infinite Armor Necro Diver (Mugen kikou nekuro daiba)
Ooedo Rocket
Trigun X

Im looking forward to Trigun X, it sounds pretty awesome. This is a pretty solid line up for a start.

Saint October looks like... One of the characters is from an old western movie, and the other 2 characters look like maids.
True Tears sounds like a romance/drama anime. I'm looking forward to it =D
I'm also looking forward to Trugun X
