for one thing as was said above anime watchers can be pretty anal/shallow especially north American anime fans.

you'll see the marked difference in them if you play online games.
which a great majority of them do play online games look at the FFXI comunity and WOW comunity if there ever was a perfect example of anal retentive kids from the west these two games are it.

in towns in FFXI you could see shouts of: "make all American servers" and the constant bickering use of the word "NOOB" the same attitude can be found among the anime fans of the west. unfortunately its more universal here than in Europe and Asia. they feel the world owes them or they feel people exist to wipe their asses for them. take the example of how many players name themselves sephiroth,Naruto,Vegita or some misspelled version of them usually crammed between some X's.

they want to be identified with some cool character that has wild powers that could destroy worlds or be some type of Ninja blah blah blah!!!!
not some straw hat wearing rubber boy who has character enough to put his life on the line for his friends (showing character like that is like a death bell to most of these kids. Naruto is a bit of an exception but he still comes off as a loner and he's a Ninja lol.)

to sum how many of these kids think they want: the biggest, baddest, best, NOW! the artwork for one piece is by its appearance dated even though its actually quite well done they want Spawn, Final Fantasy ...etc... type of artwork their attention spans are not great enough for series that run in the hundreds of episodes and since tommy down the street is not telling them they have to watch One Piece most dont even know it exists. this is where 4Kids comes in, they butchered One piece trying to make a generally adult anime into a 5-11 year old cartoon so they effectively killed the more likely to watch One Piece demographic. in effect tommy down the street didn't start watching what 4Kids was airing.

yes this does show i have a certain disdain for the little elitist anime crowd who feel they must use add ons like "-San" and "-kun" when posting in forums even though they don't actually speak japanese yet the great majority of anime fans don't do this the occasional use of a japanese word as a flourish or as a noun is not what I mean there's a difference between the wannabe and the poet.

so to get to the point so this does not become too confusing:

1) the artwork is too retro for the NA kids so it has less appeal.
2) the series is huge the average attention span for NA kids can not keep focus for ten episodes just to see one mid level fight end.
3) the main characters or fiends are not so ultra cool as to associate with.
4)Most kids have yet to even hear One Piece exists outside the butchered 4Kids version which is geared to little kids.

I have to say that I have never watched OP because I am scared of it. It has over 200 episodes and does not show any signs of slowing down which means that it is one heck of a series. I fear that if I start watching OP I will lose all will to eat, sleep or go to work because I will be so into the story and characters that I will just keep watching it.

Having said that, I just assumed that the only reason America hasn't fallen in love with OP is because of the 4Kids failure to dub it correctly. Inuyasha got canned before reaching 200 eps in Japan and it is one of the most popular anime in America today because it got a decent dub and airing on Toonami. Card Captor Sakura had the same problem as OP in the early 90's where the American editors tried to chop up the story and make Shaoran the main character instead of Sakura. Go figure why companies just shoot themselves in the foot like that.

well, besides the fact that 4kids kinda messed around with OP, I think OP is generally less popular here compared to Bleach, because of its "less handsome" characters...a lot of anime fans come off as shallow..this is true, especially when characterization is overlooked.

Lex: Don't look at the art, style, or whatever (newbies tend to dislike it). The story is what matters. It's good. Read or watch it. And then you'll slowly start to appreciate Eiichiro Oda's unique artwork (he's a great illustrator). The beauty of it comes later.

I played FFXI for two years till organising god NM and Dynamis raids became a frigging job instead of fun with 5 jobs to 75 its not like I had not played it. your talking the first wave of American players those that started pretty much at the launch in north America and that's when everyone actually played as a large comunity.
but once the little turds who do live and breath by the word NOOB (the ones who screamed in the forums that gil buying was a crime all the while breaking out moms credit card so they could afford the scorp harness) joined the game and as much as people don't want to admit it many started right from the original launch but their numbers increased a lot when PS2 launched and they fed off each other the Japanese by and large started to refuse to play with NA's in the party (ENGLISH NO THANKS)<<<was becoming the norm in JP comments the cries for NA only servers became quite common.

there were other reasons that helped to kill relations among NA's and JP's like the 75 JP bard keeping ROK asleep for 8 hrs to make it spawn in JP log on times. the NA kids talking crap during parties not knowing there was at least someone who understood them in the pt.
and the JP pts inviting someone all the way out to the fight areas only to say sorry didn't know you were English.

there's a distinct difference between NA and JP playing the most glaring is NA kids tend to follow a very set pattern once something has been established they will follow it like it was written in the bible where as the JP will innovate <<< and yes this sounds the opposite of whats true. but that's how it is. it took the JP to show how NIN was a great tank how many unconventional sub jobs could be used in a party while the Americans had to have this job with this sub any deviation "you NOOB" was the first thing out of their mouths/typed. the other distinct difference is the NA Passion for the Massive damage score they live and breath to get the big damage hit in. while the JP may attain the same results but only because it was the efficient way of dealing with killing the MOB. more often than not they used many quick but smaller hits so not to waste effort/mana while being sure not to build the mobs TP up.(they changed the MOBS AI subsequently).

I've played in hundreds of JP only parties some for as long runs as 8hrs of non-stop grind only once an hr almost like clockwork for bathroom breaks in each of these they used efficiency as the key to playing while NA pts use brute force you could tell by the types of skill chains used by each.

i think what naruto feels for sakura is just an infatuation so for me, sakura should be together with sasuke. besides, i don't think sakura deserves naruto because she just ignores him whenever he asks her out. she's too blinded by her crush(close to obsession?) for sasuke!

but actually, my main reason is that i'm a big fan of naruhina so it's just expected for me to choose sasuke for sakura! XD

Well in the earlier episodes it seems hopeless but as you see she starts worrying about Naruto and caring about him more. In the manga it's more like after he comes back she is more caring towards him and pays attention to him. Theres alot of evidence that they make a good couple, their is no evidence that Naruto likes Hinata plus I think she likes him more as a role model someone to look up to.

For those who know a bit about the show/manga, I have a question or two. I'm pretty close to being done with the anime (I'm on episode 34), but I just heard that the anime doesn't resolve itself. I know there is a movie. So does that resolve the anime? (Please =P)

Also, I've heard the anime differs a good bit from the manga about halfway through, so I was wondering A) Has the manga ended as well? and B) Do the anime and manga more or less share the same ending?

If you're sure you want to do this I warn you it's going to be frustrating... I CAN sew and the Hakama (pant/skirt) got to me... The kimono is no problem, the Hakama however you have to do some math... I used the instructions on this site and mine came out really well-

I recommend you buy a kimono pattern at the sewing store near you and use the Hakama instructions on the site. You should be set. You would have to make an adjustment in the back since the shinigami belt is white but if you're going as Gin you'll be wearing a captains robe so it won't even show...
If you need any help just be sure and ask- I've made four of these now...

Hibiki Amawa is a fiery spirit hero who wants to be a teacher. He barely found the teacher being wanted at the Seito Sannomiya school. However, the president director of that school despised the man, and had adopted only the female teacher. Hibiki reacted strongly against her policy. Then, he disguised himself as a woman, took the adoption examination, and was adopted by that school as a female teacher. He became a students' popular teacher soon because he deal zealously with their students.

But, schoolgirl Fuko Kuzuha whom Hibiki met first at school felt her heart beating fast when she met Hibiki who is a female teacher.

Thats the description I went by when I first heard about the anime.

Gantz is a great anime i just finished watching all of the episodes yesterday and the storyline is great.It starts by giving all the people an indepth personality and there wn personal storyline then kills them in a single episodePeople i haqve mentionjed the anime to before have belived that it was a childrens anime its the complete opisite

Um, about half of these posts are just ED wins because he just does. You guys lack to provide any logic or reasoning to support why he wins. Then the other half that does manage to just say, Alchemy > Magic and that's why he wins. There's only one or two that provide valid points to support why ED would win.

Existing economies and militaries were wiped out. North America, Russia, and Northern Europe were frozen under solid ice; plains sank beneath seas; the world's geography was changed dramatically. Human civilisation enters a chaotic era.

The Japanese Government created special economic areas which have achieved a limited degree of recovery pursuant to the disaster. Powered Assist Technology, which had long been under study, played an important role in this recovery.

However, poverty flourished outside of these ecomomic zones and slums were widespread. The ruling class called themselves "Logos" and maintained their position by force of arms, introducing Powered Assist Technology into the military. They call the poor "Revenus", who are exiled to live outside the special economic areas.

Time has passed since then. The main characters, Katsuragi Jo and Tsurasawa Hitoshi, escape from "Phantom", a special force organised to watch Revenus and to suppress renegade elements of the Logos, taking with them a mysterious girl, Noto Saya. There are many who are interested in her, all with their own personal motives.

It's going to have 12 episodes.

Um, about half of these posts are just ED wins because he just does. You guys lack to provide any logic or reasoning to support why he wins. Then the other half that does manage to just say, Alchemy > Magic and that's why he wins. There's only one or two that provide valid points to support why ED would win.

Agreed there...these people would have had warnings about that by now at my other forum.

Anyways, back to the thread, people were saying that ED would just clap his hands and one-shot HP from the start before HP could make a move. What if HP was on his broom and flying above ED, there isn't much ED could do. Then HP would be free to cast spells up there down at ED.

Harry needs to hit Ed. The likelyhood of him doing that on his broom while avoiding Ed's attacks is quite slim. Also in Harry Potter land magic can be blocked quite easily. All Ed needs to do is form a shield and the spell wont get through. I mean whens that the last time we have heard of casting a spell through a wall?

Also...why cant Ed reach Harry in the sky? Have you seen the things he can create? He can make pretty huge things out of nothing, that move very fast. I suppose you could argue that Harry could fly higher...but that just makes it almost impossible to hit Ed.

Then again, Harry has binding spells combined with the "forbidden spells" that are instant death spells.

Once again, Harry acually has to CAST the spell first by pointing his wand at the target, hoping it doesnt move. The spell is useless if it misses by even a tiny milimeter.

Lets not underestimate Ed's speed...I do it myself a lot. Ed is not a normal human being. To fight with Scar, Mustang and the Homunculi he has to be hell fast. Could Harry avoid Mustang's attacks if he was on land? No, because appart from the spells Harry has the speed of a normal human being.
