anyone ever watch the the entire wolf's Rain, I did and it was pretty good, but does anyone know if there is another season or a continuation, because I watched it on cartoon Network, and it ended with everyone in the future in some sort of New York type city. after that they kept on showuing reruns. So is there more to the story or is that it?

Mai-Hime and Elfen Lied are two great series that don't last too long. (26 episodes for Mai-Hime and 13 for Elfen Lied). Although, I hear they're making more Mai-Hime episodes.

Speed Grapher and Bokusatsu Tenshi no Dokuru-chan are quickly becoming favorites.

This just in: HUGE NEWS for all fans of Hellsing: Season 2 has FINALLLY been announced! This time, the series will be following the manga, not the anime, which is wonderful, as the manga is FAR better than the anime. Here is the announcement:

Hellsing: Ultimate OVA

SeriesAnime on DVD has acquired information released by Geneon at the MIP TV trade show in France regarding a couple of new shows that Geneon is involved with or has licensed.

The first is a brand new Hellsing OAV series.

Geneon is listed as the North American and Japanese distributor for the new Hellsing OAV series. According to the one-sheet, the "Hellsing Ultimate OVA Series" is "based on original comic." Reliable information that we have received from industry sources tells us that the series will be much more faithful to the original manga than the TV series. Also of note, while Gonzo's parent company, GDH, is listed as the Asian and European license holder for the OAV, they are not significantly involved in the production of the new series.

The one-sheet lists the episodes as 35 minutes each but does not provide any information on the number of episodes.

Techinically its not Season 2. Its a ova series based on the manga, hopefully it will follow the story picking up from where Season 1 left of at. Who knows, maybe it will end up turning into Season 2... I'd love that myself!

Well, most mangas seem to have just one layer in the story. When this happens, it winds up seeming less realistic...I'd say a good 'layered' manga would be InuYasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, or Bleach, although some people may not agree.

Yeah it’s got to be transformers the movie! I love that part where spike goes “Oh shit, what are we going to do now?” I can’t believe they got away with that. Does anyone own the dvd of Transformers the movie? If yours has the animated gallery I recommend you listen to the music that’s playing in the background, some guy has just remixed spike saying Oh shit, what are we going to do now? da da da da Oh shit, what are we going to do now? Da da da da… over and over on a loop… for about 4 minutes…Id love to know how they got away with that in a PG dvd. great song tho.

The series that really got me serious about anime tho would have to be Love Hina… Well any anime with a hot spring would have done it really…

The voices change the characters so much - it's a good thing, too. I mean, I THINK Syaroan's seriyuu is a GUY this time? Yay for puberty!! =P

I know! I love Syaoran's voice actor! >< But then again, I did like the Syaoran from CCS too - oh why does he have to go through puberty! So sad. I liked Sakuras CCS voice better than her voice for TRC.

I like Fai's voice too, he's one of my favorite characters! ^^

Haha, I thought the same thing! Sakura's voice as a nine year old is so cute! They should have kept that at least. But, well, can't do anything about that. I mean, Syaroan's voice actor for CCS was a GIRL, after all. Growing up a tad bit doesn't hurt. :3

Ok - every other fansubbed anime I've downloaded has worked fine but I can't view the Naruto episodes that have been subbed by Dattebayo.

The entire file dowloads - and when I go to view it, it only plays the first couple of seconds of film (with crystal player) and I get static if I try to play it on DiVx player.

I can watch AonE fansubs of Naruto and I can view the real player versions of Dattebayo subs but not the .avi's. No problems with any other anime/sub group.

Waiting for the RP versions of Naruto is a pain - and I often can't download them at all....nothing will come up. sooooo......

any suggestions?

I always download the Dattebayo Naruto ep’s and I have never experienced any problems with them.

Word of advise tho, don’t asks the guys at Dattebayo, they will just ban you. There banning policy is genius!

use windows media player. Might sound crazy, but that's the way to go~ if it doesnt work then, u need some other codecs. ace codecs pack is what i used~ but that's a buttload of codecs, more than i'll ever likely use.

Corgeta
05-06-2005, 09:03 PM
Personal i say Winamp is way to go it save's alot of room and when it run's dont tale up much space it cant run all stuff unless u are fully updated tho but there are some ep's or movie's u cant wacth becuase people have them set to only runing on certin thing's like only on realplayer or Window's Media but if it's on window's Midea i use the movie maker and fix it to run on all lol

Zoom Player is the best, no questions asked. (just search for it on Google)

On their site you can individually download the codecs for it that you need (other than your standard ones), and when it's all said and done, it takes up less room. It really reminds me of Media Player Classic...only a bit more snazzy looking.

It's about like o.O It's wierd. Like in the begining it's random shit. Like those first 2 kids just start fighting random people. Ok, THen like the school is really a big like evil organization XDD it's so wierd. The fighting scenes are what keep the anime together! The story kind of sucks, I'm only in the middle of the show but I think it's sorta wourth the time o.O

Yeah that is rather hot. 3rd grade is like the top year in the school tho so the big breasted woman is her true form. I wish all girls could do that. Can’t really tell you why without taking away form your anime enjoyment... and come on!?! Tenjou Tenge is only very very light ecchi which is just plain fun for everyone.

I see no reason to build on Jester Of Kool-Aid's explanation, that pretty much nailed it.

My very first anime, and with out a dubt the deepest i have sean.
Its about Humans and there dogs fighting an insane bear.

The story takes place in a city near the mountains, where alot of people goes skiing.
In this area theres also alot of wild bears. The city have some hunters who are hunting the bears to cut down on there population.
1 Day a hunter got attacked by a bear with red fur along its spine. The bear slashed of the hunter's left ear and were going for the kill.
When the hunters dog jumped at the bear. Meanwhile the hunter found his rifle and aimed for the bears head. Hes shot blew out the bears left eye(it did't more then that)
The wounded bear conteniued to fight the dog, till both of them fell of the mountain side.
Yet the bear survived. It changed after the hit........It went insane.(the bullet got stuck in the central nerve system)
It stopt going to its winter "sleep" and startet smashing trees and to hunt down the lokal people.
(the serie contains blood and "permanet" death= no revival)

That is how silverfang episode 1 begins

Here's a link to some info:
http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=animelist&adb.search=silver+fang

When i watched the uncuttet version it got even deeper.
Just the part where the leader appears the first time is very emotional. He got open wounds and scars, all over the body and everyone starts to cry of honour.

I was browsing through some reviews of Spirited Away one night and I noticed that a lot of people gave it horrible scores and made completely stupid reviews. You could just tell that they had no clue as to what they were watching. One person actually thought that it was produced originally in Hollywood. Hollywood! Come on! Since when is anime made in Hollywood? And then some mom made a comment about how her 9 year old daughter thought it was boring and how she didin't understand what was going on. Hello! She's 9! Of course she is not going to be able to fully comprehend the movie the first time she watches it and of course she's going to think it's boring, she's a little child! There were many more horrible reviews but I'm not going to even bother with them. Let me just say that they involved bad grammer. A lot of bad grammer.
But anyways, back to topic. What are your views on the non-anime fan community and have they angered you in anyway? Or insulted you or an anime show you like? What do you think should be done to educate them in the field of anime viewing?

Why would Non-Anime Fans watch anime?

Flame2Flames

non anime people tend to have no imagination and thus also judge movies with highter thinking involved as tho it had no plot or made no sense... im sorry the movie wasnt made for the mind of a ten year old... if thats what you were looking for you must have been so happy to see the spongebob movie with your kids... *sigh*

in general tho, if they dont flak me, i leave them alone.

ningo
06-12-2005, 03:11 AM
Mmmmm...darren i think you do a good deal of ten year olds a misjustice; there is probably a comparable percentage of the adult population that wouldn't "get it"; part of it is, as you have said in the past, having an open mind and being willing to use your imagination and fill in the gaps; too many people go to a film expecting to be mollycoddled all the way through it and not use one iota of grey matter at any point during the film. I know too many people that "didn't get" pulp fiction and the matrix(not the sequel) for it to be even remotely amusing; these are mainstream films with not particularly puzzling plotlines. Remember when discussing anything on these forums we are doing so in the presence of relative connesseurs.

And as for non-anime fans...each unto his own. Most reasonable people would just say, "i don't like it"; fair enough. I don't think that you could get mad just because someone mouths off about how anime/a particular anime is crap; the person in question probably has small man/woman syndrome, and should be duly ignored. And as for educating them? We are not preachers;those that are mouthing off are unlikely to ever "get" anime, and those that don't mouth off i trust to be intelligent enough to be allowed to make their own decisions; I'd get pretty annoyed if someone continually tried to convert me to listening to rap music, no wait i did get very annoyed when someone continually tried to convert me to listening to rap music. I know that some people like it; I don't however.

non anime people tend to have no imagination and thus also judge movies with highter thinking involved as tho it had no plot or made no sense... im sorry the movie wasnt made for the mind of a ten year old... if thats what you were looking for you must have been so happy to see the spongebob movie with your kids... *sigh*

in general tho, if they dont flak me, i leave them alone.
Actually, I would have loved it when I was ten. Anyway, if a person who is trying to be 'cool' hears that something is not 'cool', then they usually run around bashing it like an idiot. It doesn't matter if everything in that catagory is different or if the thing they are bashing is different...as long as that 'uncool' label is on it, then it must dddiiiiieeeeeeeeeee....

(By the way, I don't like those people, but like Darren, I usually don't say anything unless they start yelling at me...)

They don't bother me, and I don't bother them. I just don't like it when my nonanime loving friends try to "convert" me...

That's when I get angry because they are telling me to watch cheezy films or whatnot as an other means of entertainment and I try to explain to them why I appriciate anime and the entire animation process (and how I love voice actors). Then they just brush it off as all anime being made for kids...

Right, another misconception. All cartoons are for kids. If people can accept that Pepe Le Peu from Looney Tunes was made for adults, why is it so hard for the same people to understand that "anime" is not just for kids.

Actually with regard to the original post, I share the same sentiments, though I don't blame people for lack of imagination. Studio Ghibli's works are filled with hidden messages that usually require some thought, unlike Spongebob Squarepants which is a no-brainer (forgive me, SBSP fans). But here's something I've been thinking for a while. Animes are simply an exaggerated view on life, or the product of an overhyper imagination. They differ from films only through the presentation and the theme, but overall the underlying message is similar, isn't it? Why is it so hard to appreciate anime then?

ningo

Why is it so hard to appreciate anime then? This is a more general debate; you can have a very similar discussion by replacing "anime " in above question by "foreign cinema", "fine art", "classical music", "suggestive horror", "theatre", etc. Answer to your question is that it isn't, but as previously remarked a good proportion of the populace don't want subtle and deep in entertainment.

Such good responses from everyone! So Good! Please continue to post! I would like to hear everyone's opinion on the matter.
As for me, I don't hate them. They don't actually annoy me nor do I try to educate them in any way. I tend to not even associate with them...unless they are very interesting people. That question about educating them was just an attempt to get some posts(I lack imagination and needed another question) and I was not intending for it to be a serious question(altough I do like your responses). And that whole Spirited Away thing was just an example I was using.
I'm going to swerve off the beaten path again and take a moment to look at the current populace. Facts are facts. As stated many times before the populace, a very nice and juicy portion, is not interested in deep storylines with underlying plot secrets. They would rather have it nice and simple with lots and lots of blood and meaningless violence so that all they have to do is sit back and enjoy the movie without having to rack their brains to find out what is going. This is something that not only applys to anime but to all forms of entertainment. One prime example besides movies and anime is video games. About half of the percentage of video games involves doing nothing except shooting wildly at anything that moves. With those games there is no brain work involved and all you do is constant button mashing! And those are the mainstream games! Those are the games that sell the most! Those are the games that people are interested in today! What does that tell you about a good portion of the population? That they are nothing but lazy bags of flesh that would rather enjoy a cheap thrill then sit down and think things through.( Just so we can set things clear, I am an avid gamer who enjoys playing games of every kind, especially RPG's).
Damn. I did it again. I type too much. Oh well.

In all reality, I don't really care. If that's what they want to think, than go ahead. I however love anime. If they want to be stupid and spend like an extra 15 min to an hour typing about something they don't like or don't even understand then they really are stupid. Which also raises the question: Why would they even bother watching it if they knew they wouldn't like it? I mean, HELLO!??!! I just don't get some people.

But then again, it's their life, and if they wanna waste it by doing idiotic things, than be my guest. Just don't get on my bad side and I won't be forced to hurt you with my kendo stick. I would think that gaming is in some way shape or form the same way too. I have friend though, who's totally into anime but hates gaming... Just because she can't game. At all. Nope. It's physically impossible for her to game, and I'm not joking either. If you put a controller in her hands, she'll probably find some way to break it.

So maybe that's why non-anime people not like anime??? Because they're not that good at drawing? Or maybe they think that the style is unethical???? I for one think that many anime styles are very pretty. Hmm... I'm not too sure I answered the question though. Basically, I just think that we should just ignore the, because they really aren't that important.

In my case it was my first anime "Silver Fang".
A year ago i found out that 1/3 of the anime had been removed thx to it being censored.
The serie was on only 21 episodes eatch at around 20 min.
The biggest cut, was in the final battle, 50+ min final battle got cut to like 10 min  (mayby that was why i didnt understand it back then :rolleye09 )

Soo whats the most Cuttet anime you know?

Genshiken. It's mostly aimed towards the otaku crowd (as that's what the show's based on. a group of college aged otaku and this girl who's dating one otaku, who happens to hate anime), however it's got some funny moments that don't revolve around inside jokes and anime references. Unfortunately it's dubbed (and the english version is gonna suck, considering that the english manga did) however i know of a place to get all 12 episodes.

The other series i'd reccomend is 2x2=Shinobuden. Pokes fun at anime cliches with lots of low brow humor and perverted jokes. It's got no real plot, just little ministories, two per episode, and some funny stuff. (In fact, thats what my avatar is from.)

If you are saying what is the most cutted? anime I know, it would be Juuni Kokki. It only aired 45 episodes but it was meant to go up to 68 episodes. They stop production because they were waiting for more novels to come out so they can develop the story more but it seems they stop production pernamently. =(

DearS...so funny. Its on the same kinda level of romance/humor as Ichi 100%. But only 1 girl, Ren, an alien, and a guy who becomes her master, Takeya, and the weird moments between them is hilarious. And there is an episode that they didnt release w/ the season, so find that also if you dl DearS. Its supposed to be like eps 10but they cut it :(

If you do not mind pervertedness, then GTO is great. Lupin III is good too, although there is so much of it, it's hard to choose...I'd say the first series. I'm not really into funny anime, so I'm probably not much help. Sorry...(Please note that most anime is funny in one way or another).

That series is amazing! I'm watching the live action tv series at the moment and I love it! I prefer it to the anime so far. I'm only up to episode 3 tho because its taking so log to download... still fantastic tho!

I recommend school rumble to anyone who wants a pointless comedy anime, just don’t really expect anything more than a romance storyline.

I never thought that I would be the one to recomend this show to anyone (seeing as I hate it), but try Sukisyo. It's really funny but it's also Shounen Ai, and bordering on Yaoi. Just don't paly the games becuse the games are really porn..

What about Mar? It's really weird but good for a few laughs. Beet the Vandel Buster is on the same level as Mar, only slightly better. Ranma 1/2 is really good too...

But I also HIGHLY recommend Excel Saga, and Puni Puni Poemy. They don't make sense so I can't even explain them to you...

You know, that's very interesting and I've never really thought about it.. Well, too much. I'm a teenager and the quickest way I know, for sure, about getting something published at my age, is through TokyoPop's manga-search thing (Rising Stars of Manga). They do collaborations for uprising manga-artists.. well, if you're lucky enough for them to accept you.

Usually, there are some qualifications:

1. It's gotta be black and white.
2. It's got to be a remake of something (ex: cliches, fairy tales, folk tales)
3. It's got to be on 8.5' by 11' paper.
4. It's got to be laser printed or the like.
5. It's got to be totally unoriginal and CRAP.

And you're in. =)

Those rules don't make much sense to me either... I was reading Marmalade Boy and in one of the free sections she was talking about her editor telling her to change some stuff because the readers wouldn't like it... So I'm geussing it's like publishing a book. For example, they would probably have some people to spruce up the art a bit and then they would change the story a bit to fit the consumer's wants.

For the question about how they would get people to read it, it can range from putting it in a magazine to actually going to a publisher to putting it into a one-shot manga fic. It's basically like writing a short story over here, just with pictures.

I think that non-anime fans obviously treat anime for cartoons made for kids! I mean like my whole family member like has something against anime! Whenever they catch me watching it, they'll give dumb judgements and start imitating the japanese language! Whenever my cousins were asked whether they watch anime? They'll say: I've already grown up! I mean WTF?! Aren't kids not allowed to watch anime?! And
people just DO NOT appreciate art! I mean, being an artist has to be really tough! They have to draw a completely detail background, color it, make sure the shadow's in the right place and all!

I totally agree with you! my family is just like that!!! and here i thought i was the only one with this problem. They do immitate the japanese language and compare it to american cartoons. Then, they tell me "ur not a kid anymore, so stop watching it". it's soooo annoying.

I have a lot of friends that are anime addicts like myself and I have a lot of friends that don't watch it at all. My very best friend doesn't have a clue about anime and we get along like two peas in a pod. I just don't have lengthy anime discussion with her...I save that for my fellow anime freaks.

It's not a huge issue - I mean, everyone likes and dislikes different things. Just because you love anime doesn't mean you need to convince everyone around you that it's the best thing sinced canned beer. And vice versa - if you don't like anime - don't try to get someone who loves it to stop watching it.

I dunno, live and let live. Opinions are like a$$holes, everybody has one. Personally I respect everyone's right to have their opinion. I don't like opera but I sure as hell wouldn't go around bashing it - and people that do that crap just need to be ignored. Don't bother with them - they aren't worth the effort.

i think i'm of similar opinions with hinatetsu...

i no longer try to convince non-anime/manga friends to try anime/manga... cos i guess it's kinda like, as ningo said, we could simply replace anime/manga with any not so main stream interests/entertaiment and the result could be the same...

but what really bothers me is when some ppl that is pretty close to me, eg family, long time friends, etc., shakes their head and think i'm 'childish', and saying what a 'waste of time/money', when ever i mention anime/manga... because sometimes it's pretty hard to ignore these opinions when they come from the ppl closest to you... so in order to avoid such situations, sometimes i just don't tell them...

friend: hey so where did you go today?
me: (1 hr in Japanese book shop browsing for manga, over 2 hrs window shopping at various anime merchandise shop) Oh, i just went to the library.

or

friend: what are you listening?
me: (bleach b. station radio show) oh just some radio shows, to practice my japanese...

It is much easier sometimes... *sigh*

i'm surprised at all of you... there isn't a thread in this catagory about Trigun. well... who's your favorite trigun character and why? and what's your favorite thing about trigun?
I love Vash and Wolfwood. Vash comes off as this really suave guy... one that doesn't seem like he could hurt a fly and then... BOOM! everyone is dead... or hurt. I like Wolfwood because he is the epitome of ironic. he's a priest who KILLS people for MONEY to send to an orphanage. it's great. my favorite thing about trigun would have to be the humor and all of the action packed fighting scenes!
