What advice would you give to anyone who is new or considering cosplay?
i've entertained the idea of cosplaying for a while, but im kinda hesitant due to these factors:-
1. No cosplay activity at where i'm from.
Cosplay is catching up in m'sia, but most of the cosplay competitions are held in the Peninsular m'sia (Peninsular & East M'sia are separated by South China Sea). i'm located in East M'sia, and there's no cosplaying activity/community around here (at least not that i know of). And travelling to the Peninsular can be costly.
2. I'm on my own.
I have quite a number of friends who are into animes & mangas, but no one ever really shown interest in cosplaying. So i guess im on my own. Where's the fun in that?
3. Budget constraints
I understand that costs of costumes vary. And to own a good quality costume with accessories included, one needs to spend perhaps a little bit more $$. I would also have to spend extra $$ on travel expenses as well. *sighs*
So, what do you guys think? Any useful tips? Thanks :)

Well i do know of one cosplay competition which is held annually here in M'sia. I guess the good thing is they usually have it at end of the year, so you have like, about 10-11 months for costume and expenses preparation! :redbiggri

I like 'The Raising Fighting Spirit' in Naruto, I like the tribal drum beat. Thinking about it, I also like all the beginning music from Naruto. Bleach is ok for music but not quite as good in my opinion.

Anime is made in animation studios. People draw up the frames and then scan them, colo them in on computers, and compile them into animations. At least thats how I THINK the process goes.

I know way back when (in the good ol' days of anime) it was all hand drawn, hand painted. Thats why newer anime looks all "plastic/shiny" all photoshop/computer colored. I'd google it up if I were you. You'd get a better explanation

The internet can be a great resource and possible solution for both of these. Places like cosplay.com are great for finding other cosplayers in your area. When you do find other people, you can organize photoshoots. I personally enjoy cosplay photoshoots as much as or maybe even more than cosplaying at conventions or other events. At conventions, the number of pictures you end up with is disporportionate to the amount of time you spend in the costume, while at photoshoots, you may spend a couple hours in costume but end up with many memorable pictures.

If your reason for cosplaying is to win awards, there are some sites online that host cosplay contests. Cosplay Lab, for example, has their monthly look-alike contests, but that's a very specific type of contest.

3. Budget constraints

This is a constant issue for any cosplayer, and everyone has their own budget. The only thing I can really suggest is to figure out which costume is your priority and plan ahead for it. Keep a constant eye out for sales and bargains! Ebay is your friend, as are cosplayers selling their old but quality costumes.

If you intend to sew your own costume, you can look up your local fabric store's website. Usually, they will have some sort of ad listed online. I did this before buying the supplies for my current project and ending up getting my kimono pattern for $0.99, as opposed to the usual $15 or so. I ended up paying about $40 or $45 for all of my fabric and the pattern. That covers the white under kimono, the black outer kimono, the hakama, and the obi. The only other thing I need to buy is some belting for the hakama ties. I don't think I've ever gone to buy fabric and spent that little (I make a lot of Renaissance costumes that take a lot of fabric). So looking at sales ads really help with the money issue.

Not being able to see Ichigo isn't a problem for Goku. He could sense one's aura very well and I think he is very capable of winning this match. :D Ichigo's speed even at his bankai form isn't even comparable to Goku's own speed. His reiatsu won't even match 1/10 or even a smaller portion of Goku's energy. And his hollow part would just be a small help too.. :D

I gotta say I agree with the genral consensus that Ichigo doesnt really stand a chance against Goku. Somthing that has crossed my mind more than once is, who in the Anime pantheon could actually beat Goku in a straight up fight. Long have I wracked my brains, and these are the closest I've come to an answer actually comes from the Marvel Universe. Thanos, with the Infinity Gauntlet or The Living Tribunal might stand a chance, and thats the closest I've ever come.

noir was wonderful, music was great and story was unique. it was a series with a lot of insight and the twists were shocking and very thought provoking. an excellent drama for sure!

I thought bout this for a bit before posting... but i think Byakuya would win. It would be close - but definetly Byakuya.
He can flash step with sword and/or use his bankai in diff forms. Utachi would not be able to keep up with byakuya speed. And Utachi needs to make eye contact remember...Byakuya doesn't need to look his opponents in the eye to take them out with his bankai (the first stage where the blades fly around). If Utachi can't use his Mangekyo Sharingan, he's not fast enough to compete.
BEsides, even if somehow Utachi got his Sharingan in on Byakuya - Byakuya could get a tie..because he would already have his bankai in effect and have directed it at Utachi. So then even if Utachi takes him to the diff dimension and utterly destroys Byakuya, the moment he comes back to real time the Senbonzakara would be on him (if not by will of Byakuya then by momentum). So they both go.
But Byakuya wouldn't lose IMO ^^

In shikai, it would be pretty fair, Ichigo being ahead probably. Getsuga is probably alot weaker then Windscar, but Ichigo has proven to be fast even without his Bankai. Blades of Blood is a pathetic attack, hardly worth mentioning, and Iron Reaver Soul stealer is more then capable then being fended off. Actually, Inuyasha could pull a win if he got creative, which he never does :P

Anyway, now for Bankai. Theres no way Inuyasha can keep up with Ichigo. No flippin way. He ran circles around Byakuya, who could attack from all angles. Inuyasha can attack from one way. It might be a big one way, but I have no doubt Ichigo can jump out of the way. Heck, he can get in while he's saying the attacks friggin NAME! Theres just no contest. And considering this is in anime (no Aarancar arc), Ogihci could come out in a bind and completely murder him.

Yeah School Rumble is really funny. Also, the Getsuga Tenshou should be on par with the wind scar, and the backlash wave, though it may defeat the Getsuga, should prove ineffective against Shyunpo. If, however, Inuyasha uses the Dragon-Scaled Tessaiga, Ichigo may just be in a slight pinch since this form allows Inuyasha to use Youki from other Youkai in order to increase his own power (althgouh it shouldn't affect Ichigo, as he uses reiryouku (spirit power) and not youryouku (demon power)).

If Ichigo unleashes his bankai, however, Inuyasha stands about as much chance against him as against Sesshoumaru unarmed. Ichigo is way faster, and his point-blank Getsuga would rip Inuyasha apart.

Inuyasha may have a chance, however, if he manages to surprise Ichigo with a backlash wave.

I see it as a novel that is very repetitive anime, meaning that the same thing happens in a lottts of episodes just with a different story,villain or watever, but at the end is all back to normal and didn't really matter if you missed that episode. (Exact same thing with Pokemon...)

I saw both (was my first exposure to mech anime) and I liked them, though probably GS more than GSD. The recycled scenes did get old, and actually became a running joke w/my friends, but the storyline and characters were really good I thought (yay Mwu!). GSD and the introduction of Shinn... good lord, first off that boy is WAAAAY too obsessed w/his lil sister (and when the hell is that voice mailbox going to go out of service?), and secondly he just pisses me off for being as dumb as he is. The Lacus double was always good for a laugh, and at least Fley wasn't in it (beyond the repeated flashbacks).
But overall I found them entertaining and definately not a waste of time.

I'm going with Byakuya. Senkei Senbonzakura Kageyoshi should be able to finish Itachi off. Byakuya seems pretty fast when it comes to flash step, plus his Kidou is pretty high, not having to chant and all. Another reason of why i'm going for Byakuya is due to the fact that Byakuya has more experience in fighting than Itachi, and is more intelligent, wiser, all that kind of stuff, too.

Yeah definetly agree that kenshin would win Kuzuryusen would just decemate them and then he has his final attack if that were to fail so yeah he wouldnt have much to worry about

lol, but goku wouldn't need to see spirirts. If he's on another planet (instant transmission there), he can blow Earth sky high and every1 on it.
Ichigo can go bankai if he wants... ^^
edit: that's just how ridiculously strong they made Goku towards the end...

By the end of the show? SSJ4 Goku could destroy a galaxy probably.. The saiyans had the power to destroy planets with a finger at the beginning of the show.. Vegeta was blowing up planets and whatnot before he arrived on Earth. X_x

This fight is just...unfair.. Goku would definately be able to see Ichigo. You know how high his spirit awareness has to be? Psh..

Psh. Ok, so Inuyasha vs Ichigo sounds like a good fight...at first..

Inuyasha is stronger, but Ichigo is faster, rediculously so..

Inuyasha's Windscar vs Ichigo's shikai attack.. Hmm, probably about even..

Inuyasha can take a lot of damage, and if he used his brain, he'd pull a Kenpachi, and LET Ichigo stab him, so he can grab his sword and attack. But alas, Inuyasha lacks a bit in the brain category..

Youkai Inuyasha would give Ichigo a run for his money, until he went Bankai.. After that, it's just a massacre. Sorry, Inuyasha. -_-

This is what would probably happen.. Everyone stands in a large circle, and they all run towards each other. During this time, Dan turns around and runs away from the fight.. Akuma dashes in front of Dan, and kills him.. PWN! -Dan

Ken and Ryu would probably go after Akuma 2 on 1. Meanwhile, Sean and Ryo are fighting.. Not sure, but I think Ryo would win.. -Sean

Ryo would jump in, and probably try to help take down the monster that is Akuma. Akuma would make short work of him.. -Ryo

So it's down to Ken & Ryu vs Akuma. After like hours of fighting, Ken and Ryu would finally defeat Akuma.. -Akuma

Ken and Ryu would then turn to each other, and begin their long awaited showdown.. And we all know that all of their fights end in some kind of a draw.. :whatevah:
