Vergil's sword has been SHOWN to be blocked by normal items. There's nothing magical about its attack power. If a book said "wood is unbreakable" and you saw it break with your own eyes, then the book has been shown to be wrong. This is no different.

Again not a fact.Grimmjow's skin may be harder,but you can't prove his defense is higher in any way.I've proved it. Bomb hurts Vergil, but it does NOT hurt Grimmjaw. Swords/knives from weaklings hurt Vergil/Dante. Swords from super-powered bankai Ichigo does not injure Grimmjaw. This means Grimmjaw's defense is higher... it's plain and simple.

You think Dante and Vergil can't take high falls.Hell at the start of mission 8 Dante jumps a fall that would kill Ichigo.So that is not a fact.Also Dante and Vergil aren't damaged by falls in gameplay.

Don't give me that gameplay bs about the falls,It is used by some developers to show off their characters.It is to incline that they are near superhuman.Example on the Prince of Persia series,the prince is easily hurt by falls.Firstly, there's no indication that Ichigo would be injured if he jumped off the empire state building... you just made up that bit about "falls that would kill Ichigo." Posting your opinions as facts...

Secondly, you've missed the point. It's not about Ichigo being smacked from a high dinstance. It's the fact that he was thrown hundreds of feet THROUGH concrete pavement and was not injured in the slightest. He was pounded into a crater after breaking through metal and was still relatively uninjured. Meanwhile, Vergil is smacked maybe 20-30 feet on TOP of (not through) rock, and he is downed for at least 10 seconds. This shows that the punshiment Ichigo takes is far greater than what Vergil takes, and Vergil ends up in worse condition.

And to point this out again, Vergil gets tired from fighting an even-powered opponent long enough for blood to just start filling the cracks on the ground. If bankai Ichigo fought Byakuya for 10 minutes and got blood on the floor, a weakling like Rukia wouldn't be able to just walk up and own him. However, that's exactly what happened to Vergil and Dante.

About the only thing that makes sense in your post,but Vergil's Judgement cut is above Ichigo and Grimmjow's speed.Wow... how about posting real facts instead of posting your opinion as fact. There is no way that a max of 10 slashes (that needs preparation time) is somehow faster than millions of slashes. There's no way you can argue that it is.

Umm Vergil battle 3 DMD is more than enough to keep up with Ichigo.Also when Vergil starts Helmbreaking with Force edge out of nowhere,is pretty damn fast.You can't take into account modes of gameplay... it's ridiculous. You might as well say "Heaven or Hell mode" Grimmjaw will die in 1 hit, or "Vergil becomes invincible by rolling!". This is why you go by STORY abilities... since it rules out variations that game designers throw in for replay value. It's the ACTUAL representation of the characters... of the story. In the plot of DMC, it's "Dante fights through the castle"... not "Dante dies, gets revived by orbs, "buys" new abilities, restarts the level, and magically revives Vergil by going to a new mode".

And again, you've stated your opinion as fact, as with all your arguments. You said Vergil can keep up with Ichigo, but gave no proof or evidence of it. Vergil's Helmbreak is obvious and can be dodged by Dante walking around at human speeds. A quick step to the side and counter attack would completely screw over Vergil, and there's no indication Vergil can somehow vary his Helmbreak to do anything but go in a predictable straight down path.

Helmbreak is plainly visible to the human eye (you as the player), so it is not that fast. Techniques that are fast are heavily blurred or have cut out animation (million stab, the "teleportation" technique), so Helmbreak is far too slow to land a hit against Grimmjaw. We know that Byakuya, limited to 20% power, is too fast to be seen the average human while shunpo-attacking. By the time Vergil is half way through his attack, Grimmjaw could've skewered him from 8 sides with his bare hands (yes bare hands, since his hands > normal swords > Vergil's skin).

Even with the release DMD devil triggered Vergil is more than a match for a release.Regardless if you haven't fought Vergil on DMD as stated by somebody else you shouldn't say much about what he can do.Also when Vergil Devil Triggers DMD Vergil is that much hellish.So Espada release isn't greater than Devil Trigger,as it can't be proven.Both are useful in their own rights.

Also let me state Vergil heals in Devil Trigger and can use it in short burst which gives him a HUGE advantage,and Vergil gains Devil Trigger by getting damaged and doing damage,again a HUGE advantage.Again, you can't use game modes since those don't represent his storyline abilities. It's ridiculous that you would do so. I guess teenage DMC3 DMD Dante is stronger than DMC2 nearly invincible Dante because his health bar is longer? If you just go by what "game mode", then you might as well pick Vergil from the first level before any upgrades, since apparently storyline doesn't matter. If this fight was Cloud (FF7) vs. Dante, I wouldn't start BS'ing saying that "guns and missiles do 0 damage to level 99 Cloud, so Dante's guns are useless!!" Going by gameplay, that would be correct, but it's obviously NOT what his storyline strength is and hence not valid for argument.

The only exception "might" be Super Desperation Devil Trigger, which Vergil doesn't have.

Sword storm baby,sword storm.Also Nelo Angelo flight.Sword storm is nothing to worry about... A normal speed jump can dodge it, so it wouldn't be a problem for anyone with shunpo. Also, Nelo Angelo can't actively fight while flying... he can only concentrate shoot blasts/launch energy. You can't say he can fight while flying since he doesn't in gameplay, and there's no indication that he can.

You can't mix and match abilities and combine them into a person that doesn't exist. Since cutscenes=plot=story, Vergil's storyline strength is displayed through cutscenes. Otherwise, Vergil's "strength" is only dependent on what mode of the game you're playing and how good the player's skill is and not how far into the story you are.

Also, judging from the destruction Beowulf causes Dante when he hits him, Beowulf is about as strong as Jidanbou...

Also, if Jester can grab a katana, so can Grimmjaw. Grimmjaw is far stronger than Jester as evidenced by the distance Jester can throw a human-sized object. Whether you think Vergil was just "stopping Lady from firing bullets" is irrelevant since Vergil swung and Lady blocked it. If you look at the speed of the swing from the cutscene, it is similar in speed (and consequently power) as any of the strikes Vergil attacks Dante with, meaning a normal gun stopped Vergil's attack.

Perhaps Yamato really is indestructible, but it would take immense strength to cut through certain objects (aka a normal piece of solid metal), and Vergil doesn't apparently have that strength. Common enemies can block Vergil's strikes during gameplay, which apparently reflects his true strength.

Finally, Beowulf and Hell Vanguard aren't proof of anything since they are just normal flesh and blood/ floating cloth., which is easier to cut through than metal. Your argument is no better than saying "Sword A can cut through a person's skin, so this means it must also cut through diamond. Just look at what it did that loaf of bread!"

You say it's "from Sparda" like it actually means something when compared to someone outside the DMC world... it means nothing. If Dante says, "I'm the best", it doesn't apply to anyone outside the DMC universe. Similarly, a sword that can "cut through anything" doesn't apply to materials outside of that universe... namely reiatsu swords.

Also, the arrancar DO use their zanpakutou. The thing is, their power is so high that they see it as pathetic that they'd be pushed into using it against normal shinigami. Grimmjaw's zanpakutou is as "enchanted" as any sword made harder, which is all that Yamato is.

They may have a relatively high pain tolerance like Zaraki, but they'll be hurt by cuts. Going by gameplay, normal guns can defeat them as can normal daggers held by puppets. You can't choose both the plot and gameplay abilities since they are inconsistent. His story strength and speed are FAR lower than gameplay, so you can't just combine them and eliminate traits that you don't like, as that is no longer an accurate version of the character to any standard.

And yes, Grimmjaw's defense is higher. Where Vergil's skin was cut, Grimmjaw would not be cut. Hence, if Grimmjaw is attacked like that, then he would not be cut to begin with. A puppet with a knife can pierce Dante, yet bankai Ichigo can't scratch Grimmjaw. Since bankai Ichigo >>>>>> normal knife wielding puppet, this means Grimmjaw's defense >>>> Vergil's defense.

If you want to go by gameplay, Grimmjaw can easily survive the equivalent of sidewinder missiles, which is far stronger than the normal weapons you can beat Nelo Angelo with (aka normal shotgun).

For Ichigo to defeat all the petals using 100's of slashes, you're saying he defeats at least a million petals per swing, which is impossible given his sword size.

Unless Grimmjaw get's something completely useless (which hasn't happened yet for any arrancar release), it will definitely improve his power by a great margin.

How?the thing surronds your whole torso and stabs you all at once with 10 or so swords.You can shunpo but it will shunpo with you.Once it's locked,it's locked.What do you mean how? I hope you weren't so bad a player that you got hit by that attack everytime Nelo does it. A properly timed jump will dodge it.

So to sum up my post, cutscene Dante/Vergil is far too slow to even hope to land a hit against Grimmjaw. Normal sword strikes and even punches will do damage to them given enough time (i.e. Jester's slap to Vergil). Gameplay Dante/Vergil can also be hurt normal knives and guns, and explosions will blast them away. Their max attack speed is maybe 20-40 slashes in 2-4 seconds. Meanwhile, Grimmjaw can be hit by bombs and not be injured at all. He can block swords bare-handed... swords that can chop down a building (as Zaraki did). His max attack speed should be equivalent to Ichigo's, which is 1000s-millions of slashes in 5-6 seconds. It's pretty obvious Grimmjaw has every advantage.

Lolz it's pretty obvious if you're paid attention to the manga/anime and movies. The Deathgods in Death Note are a little more morbid and basically reap human souls for fun and necessity for themselves. The ones in Bleach basically do it cause it's their job to protect the wandering souls from becoming evil spirits that haunt the earth with.... evil O_O;..

Really I'm a fan of both series' and frankly each has it's place and fills specific spots where the other series does not. For example, when's the last time you saw an intellectual talk between Ichigo and Rukia about solving a problem? O_O Never? Bleach doesn't use that kind of arguable discussion that brings upon the thrill and suspense that Death Note does.

And at the same time, when in Death Note did you ever see a really bad-ass bloody fight scene between the deathgods and or even the humans. The action in Death Note tends to be a little more passive than the action in Bleach. I mean they both have their strengths and weakenesses. It's just about deciding on what you'd like to read at given times. Intellectual and mind boggling (eg: how will Light /Raito be able to keep up this act and... OMG! Shinigami are very powerful, they can slice through buildings - as Zaraki has shown. Now, Ichigo and Zaraki have about the same cutting power.

Slicing through a building is much harder than slicing through skin, now isn't it? I want you to cut yourself right now. Pick up a razor and cut your hand. Easy, yes? Now, take that very same razor, and try to cut your house in half. Not so easy, right?

Ichigo, being as powerful(if not more) than Zaraki, can also slice through buildings. I recall Ichigo attempting to slice through Grimmjaw, and failing.

The Arrancar are said to have skin as strong as steel. That means its strong, not literally like steel, since it seems to be stronger than it. Obviously, since Ichigo can slice through buildings, then he could slice through steel, yes? Someone tell Grimmjaw that.. >.>;

When gameplay and storyline strength are far different, you must pick only 1. You can't mix and match abilities and combine them into a person that doesn't exist. Since cutscenes=plot=story, Vergil's storyline strength is displayed through cutscenes. Otherwise, Vergil's "strength" is only dependent on what mode of the game you're playing and how good the player's skill is and not how far into the story you are.

Also, if Jester can grab a katana, so can Grimmjaw. Grimmjaw is far stronger than Jester as evidenced by the distance Jester can throw a human-sized object. Whether you think Vergil was just "stopping Lady from firing bullets" is irrelevant since Vergil swung and Lady blocked it. If you look at the speed of the swing from the cutscene, it is similar in speed (and consequently power) as any of the strikes Vergil attacks Dante with, meaning a normal gun stopped Vergil's attack.

Last time I remembered Vergil was stopping her from firing bullets.I may be right or wrong I'm not sure.Otherwise show a link to the cutscene.

2. Yamato can't go through "most anything". At best, it is limited by the speed Vergil can swing it, and Vergil certainly can't swing it fast enough to cut through anything. If it was a lightsaber, it would be a different story. However, a "hard" blade is just limited by the speed of the swing. A lumberjack can't cut down a tree in 1 strike for this reason, and Vergil can't cut through anything because his strength is too low.

Nice double standard. So basically, in JRPG's that have a story, gameplay doesn't count and the story reflects true ability, but in Action games, somehow difficulty settings, length of health bars, other gameplay mechanics show true ability while the actual story cutscenes don't matter?

This is common gamer knowledge.JRPG's gameplay is far from what the characters are actually capable of.Some action games follow that standard,some of them don't,but DMC is clearly not 1 of them.Vergil OHKOs(one hit k.o.)a Hell Vanguard in the cutscene so is clearly able to handle it,as he does in gameplay.

Heres some good examples:The characters in Xenosaga can't fight Gnosis without Chaos or Kos-Mos,but magically they can in the gameplay.Or the party can take an attack from Omega Res Novae that can destroy millions of space ships.

In FF10,The party is magically able to take hits from Sin,who can destroy a whole army ready to kill him or put a whole city under.

You can't put Vergil with Cloud,as Vergil actually fights enemies he can take.Not cleave through 30+ minute long Dungeons fighting monsters every 10-15seconds,when he clearly can't in story..Everything Vergil does in gameplay is what he is capable of in story.

JRPGs are my main gametype.I'll be happy to give you more examples if you didn't quite get what I said.

Firstly, Dante and Vergil can die by sword strikes, meaning they ARE hurt by it. They may have a relatively high pain tolerance like Zaraki, but they'll be hurt by cuts. Going by gameplay, normal guns can defeat them as can normal daggers held by puppets. You can't choose both the plot and gameplay abilities since they are inconsistent. His story strength and speed are FAR lower than gameplay, so you can't just combine them and eliminate traits that you don't like, as that is no longer an accurate version of the character to any standard.


It isn't a pain tolerance like Zaraki's.Dante and Vergil have rapid healing,this is clearly evident as when Dante is made a scythe sandwich,the blood disappears quickly.Zaraki is different,he is hurt but doesn't feel it,but it takes affect on him whether he feels it or not.Zaraki isn't able to be shot in the head or sliced in half and live you can't argue that.The wounds won"t take effect on them later,like Zaraki.

And yes, Grimmjaw's defense is higher. Where Vergil's skin was cut, Grimmjaw would not be cut. Hence, if Grimmjaw is attacked like that, then he would not be cut to begin with. A puppet with a knife can pierce Dante, yet bankai Ichigo can't scratch Grimmjaw. Since bankai Ichigo >>>>>> normal knife wielding puppet, this means Grimmjaw's defense >>>> Vergil's defense.

Defense is determined by how much you can take.Dante or Vergil can get shot in the head,sliced in half,impaled by 4-6 spears,get his limbs ripped and not a bone broken,and many other crazy things.Grimmjow cannot take hits like those you can't argue that,as Tousen took of Grimmjow's arm.How can you take off someone's arm when they are able to be shot in the head or sliced in half?There is no way you can argue Grimmjow will not survive being sliced in half.Saying his skin is harder is not evidence of higher defense.

Yes, they are visible. As a player, you can see it coming and dodge it, and the player sees techniques at their true speed. A "fast attack" would be an attack DURING shunpo (ala Byakuya against Ichigo... couldn't see what hit him). At best, Vergil's "shunpo" is actually a teleportation that can only be used to travel to certain places near the player... not his speed.

Vergil's shunpos in Mission 20 are not visible.When he shunpos for the set up of judgement cut he just appears in a random area.He clearly isn't see able in his shunpos.I already stated it was a teleport to begin with.

2. Ichigo by necessity does at least 1000's of slashes, more than likely millions. Byakuya says his bankai is hundreds of millions of petals. For Ichigo to defeat all the petals using 100's of slashes, you're saying he defeats at least a million petals per swing, which is impossible given his sword size.
3. Your "evidence" usually starts out with "There's no way Grimmjaw could keep up in speed/power/strength. Just look at what Vergil did to <insert minor enemy>"
4. Grimmjaw's speed is near Ichigo, and his power is far higher. Since Grimmjaw has yet to go all out, Ichigo is the closest reference to his power.

Grimmjow won't be blocking a sword that is said to cut through anything .The sword is far above what Grimmjow's sword is capable of.A 2000 year old sword of legend beats a non-shinigami zanpaktou.There is nothing special about his blade.
Inuyasha and Devil May Cry are very similar.If you have watched that anime you should know where Im' getting at with the swords.Yamato and Force Edge beats Grimmjow's zanpaktou anyday.Grimmjow's hand to hand combat loses to the beowulf set.Grimmjow has the speed advantage that is all there is to it.

i had asked this question in the ep 37 thread, so i thought i would bring it out to the board (unless posting like that is not aloud, then you can delete my thread)

i figure it would bring about an interesting speculation as to what happened to rems personal death note.

we all know that ryuuk had his own, and rem had her own, and they both had an extra.

the extra that ryuuk had, was given back to the shinigami that it was taken from, when they killed the guy in the porche (i forget his name) which was seen as a tactic to not only give the book back to the original shigami but as to throw the police off the trail of another book which light had planned to probably take from rem when he originally asked her to write down L's name in the book if things got to hairy, makeing it seem to her that he couldnt do it since he was finding feelings of friendship with him.

the book that was used from after that point was the one that rem gave misa.

when rem wrote L's name in the book she turned to dust and in the mist of confusion light picked up the book and put it in his pocket. effectivly makeing that book a possible plot maker in the series, but it disapreared never to be heard from again...

what i think could be possible theroys as to what could have happend...

1 lights plan to use the book never came to be and we never heard what he might be planning as to keep this part secret so he could use it to his advantage later

2 light did use the book but at the time only kept a part of the pages next to his skin so he would not loose his memory of the notes while he gave the book up for a second time.

3 he had a plan to set in motion if he infact had been caught, or he died once ryuuk got bored of their game, makeing another kira in the process there for setting out another series. only this time a smarter faster and stronger kira as to avoid such odvious suspucion from the police. (sorry i couldnt help the 6 million dollar man reference)

4 maybe keeping that book on him when he died would then make him in to a shinigami (as to what was eluded to by ryuuk) and if that were the case he would inheret that book and he could "drop it" in the human world and start the whole thing over

so now what do you guys think,

do you have your own theroy or do you think that it was just a plot hole.

I'm gonna say Shino, even though i like shikamaru alot more, cuz shikamaru's shadow bind may be able to control shino's movements, but it won't be able to control the bugs movements, so while he has Shino in a shadow bind, the bugs can just defeat him. Besides, Shino barely uses any physical attacks, so its not like being binded would hinder him from doing anything

1) He has an insanely high IQ, so he could probably find a way to deal with the bugs.
2) He uses a ton of explosives as he fights, so he can easily blow up up thousands of bugs per bomb (billions of bugs = millions of kilograms of weight, so no, Shino does not have anywhere close to a billion bugs)
3) Shadow techniques can cover a large area due to the shadows the bugs cast, so he could squash the ones that hinder him.
4) Only Shino needs to be killed, and that would require minimal effort if he is caught in Shadow Sewing technique.

I say Shikamaru wins anyway, because his miriad of explosives. Also, I'm sure if kagemane catches Shino, he can't use his bugs.
