Wow. War summed it up pretty much: Kenshin not only moves at "god-like speeds", but he has a lot of special techniques that Mugen doesn't stand a chance against.

Here's a comparrison though. Take Kariya (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Samurai_Champloo_characters#Kariya_Kagetoki_.28a.k.a._.22The_Divine_Hand.22.29), the "God Hand". Kariya was fast, very fast. So fast in fact, that when he first fought Mugen, he seemingly vanished - turning into a ghost-like figure, and 'flew through him'.

Kariya was able to fight off both Mugen AND Jin at the same time, defeating Jin in a stand-off later on in the episode. He was only defeated by Jin in the last episode because of Jin's "suicidal" tactic.

A better fight would've been Kariya vs Kenshin. Though the fight would still end in Kenshin's favor..

Anyway, if Kenshin weren't using his special techniques, then it'd be a good fight to see. Mugen's unorthodox fighting style would definately keep Kenshin on his feet. Mugen's only salvation is the fact that Kenshin won't kill him, and his moves would only be enough to bruise him at best.

Mugen can take a hit though, being sliced up, shot, and caught in several explosions (all in the same ep), and living through it..

I'll have to give it Kenshin. Mugen is more real life based, Kenshin has all that anime junk like special attacks and speed. Which gives Kenshin the easy victory.

The thing is, that even when Kenshin pwns, Mugen is too unpredictable with his movements, but I think that those "break-dancer" style movements leaves him open to too many of Kenshin attacks but, seeing that Kenshin depends a lot on reading his opponent (as his Master said once), that's why I think he would have a hard time against him
As War said, a single kuzu-ryu sen and then Mugen is over.

Maybe, it would be different if Kenshin's opponent happens to be Jin.

Ok. Welcome to the Final Fantasy character tournament, Final Fantasy Fights (F3). Similar to the Bleach Battles section's Bleach Tournament, 20 characters will fight in elimination rounds (though these will be 1-on-1 fights). The fights will continue until I or Vlaew decide the winner, then the next 2 opponents will fight. This will continue until all contestants have fought, leaving the undisputed Final Fantasy Champion. I came up with the idea of this match after checking through the Anime Arena threads and finding that the Final Fantasy threads get the most traffic, despite not being anime. Maybe at the end of this tournament, it'll be out of our systems and we can get on to some more interesting non-final fantasy fights.

Rules
-------
1:Characters can't use items. They are also limited to only their base weaponry. Characters that can wield multiple weapon types will use a weapon similar to their opponent's.
2:Canon storyline elements can be used to argue in one characters favor, however, no immortality.
3:Game mechanics will not be taken into consideration in these matches. At all.
4:No summons or magic (except for summoners or spellcasters).
5:Characters are allowed only one offensive limit break to be determined before each fight.
6:These are the versions of each character from their original series, not sidestory games or movies.
7:When choosing a character to win, you MUST ATLEAST post a paragraph (5 or more sentences is all I ask) as to why that person should win. Simple one word posts will be ignored.
8:The same rules meant for any other thread apply here aswell. Let's try to be mature.

One of my most favorite anime's. It was SO much better than GDW.

This is a tough one, They both have nearly the same moves, (damn zell you took tifa's moves!) and nearly the same skill. but i think Zell is more with fists Tifa is all-around punching and kicking. but Zells Final Heaven, is weaker than than Tifas, Zell does more dmg on a area, while Tifas is a concetrated Blow on one person. idk how Zell fits into having one limit break, he does multiple "mini-breaks" before doing the real one. does he skip the combos and use his finisher?

Anyway, let's look at it from this perspective. Tifa was trained by some guy, and is a member of AVALANCHE, a group of freedom fighters. Zell is a member of SEED, a mercenary group specially designed to fight a sorceress. Something tells me Zell's a bit better of a fighter in that regard. If this were AC Tifa she'd be alot stronger than Zell, but this is FF7 Tifa...

I think Zell's got my vote. No one else has an opinion?

2. Although Zell is a well rounded fighter I think Tifa has more arsenal on offer.

3. Tifa is a much more rational person, I find Zell tend to get quite hot headed and over zealous, losing control and rationality in certain situations...

They are so evenly matched as their limits and styles are so similar. However, I think that Tifa's rationality would be her aid

@Allcreation: Zell may be hot-headed, but he has some control. He's also the "know-it-all". This isn't just about history and mechanics mind you, its also about martial arts.

Zell may only use his fists in in-game combat, but we've seen that he has much more to offer. In his intro scene, he doesn't just punch the air; he punches, kicks, flips, etc.

Also, we've seen that he can kick and use knee thrusts in his Limit Break, so he isn't just about the fists. So I'd say they're around even.. maybe, when it comes to fighting-range/technique.

Also, I haven't played FF7 (but I've seen enough hype and "ZOMG! BEST GAME EVER" 'shows' to know everything about it..), but Tifa didn't seem that rational in KH2.

Yes, I know its a seperate series, but the KH games stay true to their FF characters, in turns of personality.. She didn't hesitate to smash everything in Ansem's research room to find 'clues'.

Ultima > Flare. Ultima is the most powerful spell in the FF-verse, at least for playable characters anyway (could Apocalypse be drawn from Ultimecia in ff8?). Flare might be in the top 5, but its not the most powerful.

Actually...Vivi takes this one. In FF9 instead of Limit Breaks there's Trance. Trance = Super Saiyajin. This is the reason Kuja is the most powerful badguy in FF history, because he destroyed a whole world in minutes with his Trance (no, this wasn't an attack like Sephiroth's. This was an actual cutscene). Well...he WAS a Genome. Vivi isn't. He's a Black Mage. Black Mages in FF9 are an entire race, not just a job. They are created as magical footsoldiers for Queen Brahn, and are designed to die after a year of "use".

Vivi is assumed to be the prototype Black Mage, due to the fact that he's lived to age 9. Anyway, I'm assuming the fight would come down to them both pelting eachother with spells until Vivi get's pissed...then it's BOOM! Vivi goes Trance and Lulu get's nuked.

Sure, the fact that he's a 9 year old boy makes him less skilled, but he already is "programmed" for battle. Yeah, I go with Vivi.

Hm. And if Lulu goes Ultima Fury on Vivi? That's around 5-7 (the highest I could ever get) straight Ultima blasts. I doubt anyone could live through several blasts of the 'most powerful PC spell' in rapid succession.


And about my last post, and Flare being in the top 5.. I just remembered that FF12 rose the bar with spells such as Scathe, Scourage, and Darkga.. Not sure about Shock or Ardor, as far as power goes..

No there isn't, but we're actually not taking hit points or damage into account for these matches, because in real fights you don't have hitpoints. Anyway, I change my vote to Lulu, for the reason that:

1: I forgot spells in FF aren't projectiles, they're AOE-like explosions that auto-hit. If they were projectiles, then Trance Vivi could use the same spell Lulu casts and it will plow through hers because of it being boosted to super-powered levels. This isn't the case so it's basically first spell wins, and Lulu has rapid-fire so...yeah.

2: You still can be hurt/killed during Trance. Yeah you're faster and more powerful, but it ain't like mages are all that fast to begin with...

3: Skill. I just realized that it's only the mass-produced Black Mages that are killing machines. Vivi grew up as a normal boy, so he doesn't have the battle experience.

Yeah, Lulu does take the win.

No, Espers from FFXII. Bahamut isn't an Esper in FFXII, his name was instead used as an airship.. like Shiva and Ifrit.

In FFXII, the summons - Espers (http://www.final-fantasy-12.com/ff12_summons.html) - were either gods, or created by the gods. Don't let that alter your judgement though, since most of them were weaksauce.. Save for Ultima and Zodiark.

Ashe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Characters_of_Final_Fantasy_XII#Ashelia_B.27nargin_Dalmasca). Since they can use several different types of weapons in XII, she'll be using a staff to match Yuna.

Yes, Ashe would win an a physical brawl, being a warrior.. sortof. But like, I don't think they'd get to fight each other, unless their summons are entirely focused on each other.

Magus sisters.. meh. I have a feeling that Zodiark or Ultima would eat them for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. (The fat one being lunch and dinner.. and the bee being dessert).

Most of the Espers can fly, so yeah..

It'd be a physical fight, since they'd just heal each other with fire. Belias would probably win, having a large axe and four arms..

Yeh, FFX Aeons can learn spells outside of their element. So that is true that they can use that to their advantage.. Hm.

The FFXII 'Deathblows' were uberly exaggerated as opposed to the not so intense Overdrives of the FFX Aeons.

Like Zodiark for example. No idea wtf was going on there, but he blows up like a supernova or something... right? Ultima blasts down a giant beam of destruction..

Anyway, I think Bahamut could fly into orbit.. maybe. Not so sure about Valefor though.

Not really.. Remember, Nemisis can hit 100k, and your characters can only have 100k hp(Thats if you break the 3 node locks on the sphere grid, otherwise you get capped at 9999, and when you DO unlock them, you wasted all the hp you gained while at 9999.) and you hit 99,999 not 99k. Rules of rounding up state 5 or more equal ^. So yes 100k. Oh, and nemisis's whole "hit 2 people with 100k thing" which would auto-kill anyone, let alone 2 of your characters. Then you waste the next turn healing him. Oh, and yeah their is a stronger monster then nemisis, but he only has 5 mil hp... However I hit 30k on him... High ass def... Especially since I hit 99,999 on nemisis.

Ichirin No Hana was post-hardcore IMO. I like them a lot. The Metal scene in Japan is growing, its just still way underground, so you won't find many in Animes. I got a huge list of Japanese metal bands ranging from Melodic Death Metal to Sludge/Grind metal. PM me if you wants a list of em. My favorite J-metal band is Serpent or Blood Stain Child (1st 2 albums mainly, other two are decent).

This thread should be more appropriately titled "Gadgetron vs. Jak&Daxter". You have to take into account that much of Ratchet's success is because of his badass weaponry, which gives new meaning to the phrase "one-man army". Jak on the other hand is stuck with a gun that was probably thrown together somewhere in a junk shop on that god-forsaken planet he comes from. If Jak had access to anywhere near the same level of technology that Ratchet did, or if it was an unarmed match (well, wrench vs fists) my bet would be on Jak.

No I mean best graphics in a game to date. They are not like other previous games that are compared to "being in a pixar movie" they are graphics that transend/exactly like the quality of "being in a pixar movie". I had my doubt on the game, only see a few videos, even the videos in HD DOES NOT do the game justice till you play it. It even looks better then gears, and bioshock, that is saying something. Though uncharted and UT3 will look better, but meh it is the best to date for looks. It is hard to compare the graphics between games so it usually comes down to taste, but the textures in the game are of such high quality, coupled with the enemies and their is so much happening on screen and off screen it's ridicules, especially to keep the level of detail they have.

Don't want to start a war here, just take my word, and the word of all the reviewers, if it doesn't look good in graphics to you, you haven't played it.

1. Halo 3 runs at 640p, is not really next gen in graphics. I have it, it's not good in graphics. Though I liked it somewhat, was never really a fan of the story to begin with, it's kinda old and outdated(E.g. halo comics).
2. Metal gear solid is not out, and it's hard to tell from videos anyway. Ratchet and clank looks horrible in videos. Though in true 1080p it looks better then the videos for metal gear, but that might change when it's out.
3. I have gears, though it does "appeal" more in graphics to most people, and me included, ratchet is better. Mainly it's close, but with the 1080 textures on ratchet, all the stuff on screen(litterally hundreds of ships in sky, all rendered 3D, amount of enemies, and free rome, no loading in levels) ratchet wins.
4. I actually have bioshock for the computer(it's better then the 360 version in DX10) though I can not tell the difference between bioshock computer version at ratchet, when playing it on a 360 with bioshock, there is a huge difference. I would still say ratchet looks better then bioshock on computer... However to hard to tell, looks better to me, but it's a "opinion" type thing with graphics so close.

only halo comics was some superhero named halo (who is a chick and has no relation to master chief at all) and the only other 70's thing relating to halo was a book called ringworld, but tottaly difrent story just that ringworld's halo is similar to the halo in halo series, just on a bigger scale of size.

It was still based of halo comics. I still have hard-copy of chapter 8. Though master chief is not in it, nor exists at all(basically multiple story lines through the spartans eyes) the game is still based of them. Halo the game is a story sticking to one spartan. It was not a very good comic mind you, and was full of plot holes, but yes it has everything halo has, mostly. Plus bungie devs stated they based the over-all storyline from multiple scores, and influenced by the old halo comics. Though they did come up with some aspects, the game is not a new storyline.

Well I upload CD's also and they have the generic label, which in this case would be rock. Hardcore is sub genre of rock/metal (depending on the band), and post-hardcore is a sub genre of hardcore. I do have a comic of "halo" chapter 8, but it's that chicks comic. Just kept checking, though she isn't in the chapter at all, and I see people in green suits, in space. Though thats wrong, bungie did state the idea of the halo, in halo come from outside sources, as well as based on a few comics they bought rights to. Which I supposed was that. Though in the end the story is still not original even if they came up with it by themselves, aliens? Trying to destroy human kind? Where have I heard that a hundred thousand times before.

1. The mafia guy was holding a gun at Ubougin's face. They were in the middle of a gunfight. If that's not as good as saying he will fire, I don't know what is. Hence Ubougin had enough warning.

2. How is catching the bullet between your teeth a feat of speed? It is a feat of durability. You can simply leave your mouth slightly agape so that the bullet would stop between your teeth when the opening becomes too narrow. Naturally a bullet would break teeth, but Ubougin's are tough enough to withstand it (around slightly tougher than concrete, then).

Have you read the manga? Byakuya's petals move as fast as Bankai Ichigo, who is extremely fast. Also, as far as failed to kill... it is very difficult to kill someone in Bleach unless you sever the head. Also, Renji and Ganju were both dying.

And as far as destructive power goes, the stone wall behind Renji was shattered to tiny pieces.

Shattering a building > a tiny bullet's power.

The distance between the eyes and the brain is minimal, so we might say there is not lag between the eye seeing and the brain translating the signal. And yet the person sees afterimages because the brain sees the person in multiple places since he moves too fast.

I already mentioned that it was not a feat of speed. Also we must take into consideration that Ubougin is always ready to battle - when he's in the middle of a fight. Also, these mob guys weren't in for aiming. They were shooting at him. Obviously he would expect a gunshot in a short time frame from the pointing of the gun.
