Hmm, a team name...Chikara Giron means energetic argument in Japanese, that might be a cool name. :P I dunno, everyone in the team should give their opinion.
I'm fine with whatever you guys choose i would just like to get to debating...
^_^...
how many more members do we need?

Hi Alex, I'm Blake.
The name is Chikara Giron officially? Nice! I made a good name! :P
So it's Hitsu, Ai, and me. Sweetness. Well, good luck to us in winning many debates, then!

Jaran

Sounds like a good addition to me. So, when are we going to start doing debates? Are we waiting 'til we fill out our team?
Probably...
Will any of us be able to accept a challenge or did you just want to take care of that Hitsu?
Hattori

Doesn't appear to be any debates pending right now, as they are revamping the Team Debates section. If you've got any changes and have debated before, you might wanna check out the revamp thread; they're planning on changing the speech order, I believe.
Whatever, I'm in.

That's one of the things we're getting structured right now. Heh. The Team Debates will see quite a bit of reworking in the near future. If you've got ideas, see the sticky. :3

You want to post topics that are highly relevant to current events and have sufficient on- and off-line resources to build presentable, professional cases. For example, the L-D topic I debated on this spring was:
"Support/Negate: The government's use of eminent domain to further private interests is unjust." (Inexact, going from memory)
Now, some parts of this are legalease, but "Eminent domain" is the ability of a government to force a market transaction between two parties. It is generally used to clear land for hospitals and roads or to resolve "holdout case" scenarios. However, because of the "private interests" caveat - I assume you all know what private interests are (and no, not in the television sense) - this is narrowed down to basically whether or not the government has the power to force parties to sell to other parties. Before you get your hackles up, remember that this topic is actually highly debateable and that eminent domain can and has been defended brilliantly many times.

That’s a good one, I think that it would be good to find out a little more info about this topic before challenging another team. I read it twice to understand it but now I get it….that is an important topic. Im also in future problem solving so the topics that we did this past year were climate change, nutrition, redistribution of wealth, depletion of oceanic spieces ,maybe some specific questions off of those. Our team went to internationals and placed 11th out o 60…so I know a lot about those topics

*sigh* At this point, I must interject. The topic you are suggesting was used this past year in L-D and you probably have one of the best aff/neg cases there is. You need to do something else - otherwise, you really don't gain too much from it.
Hits...
If you challenge another team withing two days then i can definatly debate..
Plus i'm itching to see how we go in our first challenge...

I was posting it as an example of a topic, not as a potential topic. That's why I mentioned that it was this spring's LD debate resolution.
Also, people, remember to confer with at least two other members of the team before posting.

Does anyway think anything of any of the future problem solving topics I posted above…any debates out of those issues….
How bout...Going off el Future Problematic Solving..
Is Global Warming Really That Bad?
Is Nuclear Better Then Fossil Fuels...?
Are We Taking Our Planet For Granted...?
Actually i like that second one...I'm gonna make a debate about it...
I believe some of these have been done with variations on the theme..But these are much more defined in the arguments in which people can take..
Also..Fun topics
When is enough enough?
Jesus..A Cultist or a savior?
Did Mary Really Have A Little Lamb?
Can You have your cake and eat it too?
Was Buddah really really fat...Or just big boned?

I've got one.
This is the National Forensics League debate resolution for Country-wide competitions this year. I haven't done it yet.
Resolved: In matters of gathering military intelligence, the ends justify the means.
hitsugaya131
07-11-2006, 11:20 PM
Oh my gosh…
That’s all we talked about in English class this year…
One of the major discussion that we had…
I like that one hattori
Ai, don’t get me wrong I like yours too, but I just talked about the ends justifying the means thing in English a lot…hope that I can remember…
That’s a good one…
Anyone want to do it….
Jaran
07-12-2006, 08:06 AM
I'm a little biased about military intelligence, since I was in the military and all.
I'll go along with the debate, though I might get a little heated if our challengers get too liberal on the issue.
hitsugaya131
07-12-2006, 08:58 AM
Then maybe instead if could just be do the ends justify the means type of debate,,,
I thnk that that would still be alright right?
People would bet heated your right….
Roflz.....I'm just being silly..
The ends justify the means debate would be a nice one to argue..
Im in for it or to sub for it...
Go find us a team to debate it against oh leader...
hitsugaya131
07-12-2006, 09:14 AM
Let me just make sure with hattori and jaran and we;\’ll do it,
Also get the finalized wording down, cuz the I believe that the wording is important…
Then we will challenge a team..
Do we pm the leader or use the challenge thread…
Also which team do you want to challenge
The wording is important as it leaves open the subjecty for a lot of debate....but thats nice..
As to a team to challenge...http://forums.bleachportal.net/showthread.php?t=11314&page=6.....These guys seem like they want to challenge someone.....
hitsugaya131
07-12-2006, 10:06 AM
sure they seem good,
how aboutL:
in situations do the ends justify the means?
Jaran
07-12-2006, 10:16 AM
More like this: In situations of war or national threat, do the ends justify the means in regards to gathering military intelligence?
At least that would be a more focused version than: In situations, do the ends justify the means?
I'm not trying to nit-pick or anything, but that is a bit generalized.

Yep good, Ill post in the challenge thread and pm the captain asking them…
Aww...no don't make it specified like that...
I mean sure it portrays the current situation in the world..But seriously...It's gonna focus around the war in Iraq...^_^...Don't do that us...
hitsugaya131
07-12-2006, 02:32 PM
Its goin to be a good debate..
Iagree that the other one was too broad…
Also they were other wars..
Before I post the challenge what side do we want and should it be finite or infinite…
Hattori

No. If it does not specify the war in Iraq, Iraq is only as topical as any other modern-day conflict.
EDIT: Hitsugaya, all debates in the team debate forum are finite. Usually, sides are determined randomly. Read the team debate forum topic post too see the format.
Also, remember to check in with me before posting, guys. We wouldn't want to start out our first debate posting the wrong format or having a case with gaping holes.
..^_^...Indeed...
But you realise that it shouldn't be who wins the arguement in a debate but whom gets their point across the best...
I'm ready..Just get it ready..

Don’t worry hattori….
We wont. That’s why I didn’t post anything yet….
So yea, don’t freak out…I remember all the teams members even you….
In the rules section it said that it can be eiter finite or infinite but I chose finite…
And also we have to chose an order of turns in posts and which side on the debate…
Still have to decide those too before actually beginning as well as chosing a judge…
For my sake…I live on the east coast…so what times are you guys usually on in EST time…
Im on frm 8am-10.30pm most of the time….yep im active
This is so that we can communicate easier
Hattori
07-13-2006, 04:12 AM
In a week or so I'll have a part-time job, so I'll be active mostly in the evening. I suggest we coordinate our posts then and get a session together at least a day in advance of actually posting.
Why don't we get on IRC or msn or something like this thread at an appointed time ...
Anytime is fine for me as long as it isn't your saturday/sunday because i'm about a day ahead of you...

i just really need to know what time your on in EST time....and what days are best.

Jaran
