Well i dont now about fanfics but general sites like BP are, from my experience.

But whats even more annoying is the extreme geek and/or "to childish" stamp anime/manga have here in Sweden, there are very few who looks at any other way than it is the geekiest thing ever.

I know only 2 girls IRL that have seen any anime other than one ep of Pokémon or Digimon. (dubbed to Sweadish of course)
