philips has a nice divx player (DVP-642) which i'm sure all of you are aware of. i burned a bunch of bleach episodes onto dvd and played them. two issues with it now:
1. subtitles are cut off at the bottom of the screen, which i'm guessing is due to the resolution of a television screen is slightly smaller than the video resolution of a video file. is there a way to re-encode so that it fits on a normal TV screen well?
2. for some reason i can't get the Dattebayo releases to play. the ones that DO work are the ones from the Lunar release team. has anyone noticed this, or is it just me?
Hi!
First point: I did the same as you... I burned bleach episodes to play them with my DVD-player and I had all dialogues cut... I dunno why happened and how to solve it... Domo... Try watchin' 'em in your computer...
Second point: I think this only happens to you... I never had any trouble with DB downloads... Which player are you using??? Try downloadin' the latest version of Windows Media Player... It's cool and it works with a large amount of video and audio extensions... Try with it... Tell here if you have more questions... :D

thank god it's not just me in terms of this aspect.

i was still referring to the DVD divx player on this part. i can play Dattebayo releases just find on my computer. Lunar release episodes work on the DVD player, but Dattebayo doesn't. it kind of sucks that Philips doesn't update with firmware releases.
Ouuu sorry... When did you got your DVD-player???

you need to change the aspect ratio before encoding so it matches your tv's.
look up your tv's aspect ratio then set that for the decoder.
and if you cant watch the DB downloads then its prolly a file that your DvD cant support =/

I have a DVD player and I burnt all my DB Bleach episodes into a DVD disk and it worked perfectly. Probably its an issue with your DVD player.

This is kind of off topic, but for those of you who has burned the fansubs onto dvd and played on dvd player, how is the quality? I've never tried since I wasn't sure of the quality, if it's good, then I'm going to burn some too and play them on my xbox.

The quality is the same as watching on the computer. Since the fansubs quality is like a DVD rip, its like watching a DVD when you view it on a DVD player.

are you guys familiar with RJ Tech? that's another brand of Divx player that i have and i was wondering if DB releases work on that. the tv i have my other divx player hooked up to has crapped out so i can't test it.
Do you have a laptop? I recommend using that and hook it to the TV instead. DB probably uses Xvid instead of Divx, a variant codec.
