I liked the game so much (the 1st, 1st person shooting game i played)
that i made this fanfic about Gordon Freeman's trip to the infested city Ravenholm :D
A man opened his weary eyes and wiped the moist fogging up his glasses. The man who is also known by the citizens of City 17 as the redeemer or The One Free Man. His epic tale of defeating the Nihilanth at planet Xen spread throughout the world like ripples in a pond. Now the world payed heed as he takes up his crowbar once again to expel the virus that has embeded itself on the world after the Black Mesa incident. With the help of Eli Vance and his daughter along with two of his colleagues, Gordon Freeman is now on his way to cure the virus; the virus that is Dr. Breen.
Gordon stared at his glasses for a moment. He had just wiped it with a clean cloth and yet the lens fogs up all too quickly. He got up from the matress and walked towards where he placed the HEV (Hazardous Environment) Suit. It was hanged on the wall next to a Converter ready for charging; the same suit that has saved him countless times.
Thousands of miles away, on a monitor that has been up ever since the first reports came in; a red dot began to blink. A Combine double checked the coordinates and radioed a Comm. Center nearest the place of the signal.
"Contacting Comm. Center 27 of the Northwest Suppression Group come in, this is Comm. Center 1 of the Citadel Battalion. We have located the target, he lies at the outskirts of sub-city 27-B6. Target appears to be in a civilian shelter and is accompanied by possible resistance. Dispatch your forces and siege the area... I repeat, Gordon Freeman is near at the outskirts of sub-city 27-B6; Ravenholm. Target is accompanied by armed civilians. Dispatch your forces and siege the area immediately." The message ended with a static sound. The order has been given.
A hundred miles from sub-city 27-B6, floating on a barge; Comm. Center 27 burst to life. The hull of the hundred ton structure thundered as the engines and generators turned up. Combines boarded Dropships, ammo and fuel was packed into the Gunships. 3:56 AM, the preparations were nearly done; the siege upon Gordon Freeman who rests outside Ravenholm, is drawing near.
Freeman returned the cord to the Converter. The HEV suit, now fully charged, began the self-tests. "Auxilliary Power 100%, Antitode 95%, Shield 100%" the mechanical voice said. Through a window next to the Converter, the sea was calm and dark. The sun has not yet come up. Gordon stared at the water, then he took a deep breath as he changed his view towards the city that loomed not so far away. "The maze city of Ravenholm" he said to
himself.
Gordon left the room and headed down the stairs. He entered the living room where he found a guy sitting on the sofa, smoking.
"Good morning Dr. Freeman" he eyed Gordon. "What time is it?" Gordon replied. The guy exhaled a thick cloud of smoke, "Just around 4 AM..."
"I woke up too early i guess" Gordon thought. "It never does get too late or too early out here," the guy reached for the ashtray and extinguished the cigarette; he exhaled the last of the tobacco. "You're just on time Dr. Freeman, exactly on time" he cleared his
throat.
"Beck, right? You're the guy in charge of this shelter." Gordon motioned towards the lighthouse just a couple of yards from the doorway of the house.
The lighthouse rocketed towards the deep black sky. In common terms, it was huge and tall. Painted white all the way, with the exception of a red division on the middle. It stood at the edge of a protruding cliff, much like a cape. The light on its top shone ever so brightly.
"Keeping a look out for Dropships i see" Gordon asked. Beck joined Gordon, both gazed upon the beaming tower. "Keep a look out for Dropships? What for? The come all too suddenly to be noticed. The lighthouse is doing what its suppose to do; guide ships towards shore." Beck giggled and made a faint smile, "In this case, ships like you Dr. Freeman, ships like you that carry our hopes."
