okey. im about to buy a new chipset fan cause the one i have now is wierd (running on 8000rpm).

was wondering if any1 have a nice tip on a good chipset fan.

and when i looked around i found out i could use a heatsink device for it too, but are they good? i mean they dont require a fan but do they really cool down my chipset? (and if u dont know what i mean take a look here at northbridge cooler: http://www.zalman.co.kr/)

and another thing. i read about that u could put the red and black cables into the HD input to lower the voltage to 5V, is that something recommended or will it just shrew up my PC? ^^

what are you running intel or AMD?

and yes Zalman is the right company to go with for heatsink fan.

you dont need to boost your power if you bother to get the right one to start with.

Whats wrong with your current one? There are alot of affordable fans that are really great (50 Dollar range). Just research around.

heatsink only without fans usually are bulkier but obviously quietier.

CPU fan you mean?
if you also need a heatsink thermalright is the best heatsink makers out there.
zalman is good, and basically when looking for a good fan, compare the CFM(cubic feet per minute), the higher the CFM the better the fan is. doesnt matter what fan you have, the higher the CFM, the better it cools.

well No not CPU, Chipset fan, its on northbridge under the graphic card (usally).

And @ DB: the fan is broken. else it wouldnt run with 8000 rpm and make sounds over 40 dBa. The chipset fans is said to be of the worst quality in the computer, takes 4 - 8 months to kill it of -_-

Which mobo do you have?

My chipset fan on my ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe is quite loud too, but it works..
