There have been threads like this btw. But as a guess .. well bankai w/o owner ... I think we havent seen that bankai yet. Maybe there will be one which is ultimate. On the other side Ichigos bankai was strong , If he would attack instantly and not stop at ppls throuts , it could be one of the best.

Byakuya's Senkei and Hakuteiken are pretty devastating, but Senbonzakura Kageyoshi is just a souped-up version of his shikai. Tousen's Enma Cricket is the most powerful, as it denies four souces of sensory input to his enemies. I never understood why he didn't just stab Zaraki in the heart or decapitate him when he had the chance (before Kenpachi thought tactics through).

It is clearly stated that Zaraki is by far one of the most powerful captains. But, the reason he cant get any stronger is because he refuses to work with his Zanpakuto, who refuses to help Zaraki untill he sees him as a partner instead of just a weapon.

And, im pretty sure, just like Ichigo, his sword is allways in Shikai form, because 1. Hes too damn strong to compress it, and 2. His sword prolly wont tell him how. Lately, Zaraki has actually started to talk with is Zanpakuto, which means that sooner or later, he is prolly gona either get Bankai, or one of his swords abilities.

From every bankai weve seen so far I like Ichigos the most. Its just so plain simple but still effective. My listing - starting with my favorite.

- 1st Ichigo - see above
- 2nd Byakuya - makes you look noble even if you wear sackcloths
- 3rd Hitsyuga (well It looks good , I dont like the whole hype about him but it looks good , *sigh*)
- 4th Renji Man its huge but the only usefull atk so far was shown in he fillers.
- 5th Ikakku - its just funny :D
- 6th Tousen - its nasty but not bad if he would use it wise ...
- 7th Komamura - We only know its shape , its action looked lame vs. Aizen.

"Who has the best bankai". A very interesting question. But for it to be answered properly, first you must define "best".

Is it, perhaps, best as in "most popular"? In such a case, to each his own, and then I vote Ichigo's black nodachi rulez. As well as Ogichi's white one. (btw: their one and the same. Ichigo and Ogichi, the Hollow residing within Ichigo's soul and who saved him from Byakuya, both wield Tensa Zangetsu.)

Then we must analize those we already know, and see what we can deduce (for the sake of a semblance of order, I will write them in the follwong order: first those of the Captains of th Gotei 13, by divisions, then those outside the Gotei):

Gotei 13 Bankai holders:
1. Senbonsakura Kageyoushi, wielded by Kuchiki Byakuya, Captain of the 6th squad of the Gotei 13:
Senbonsakura, is, as we know, essntially a huge cloud of razor sharp, razor thin petal-like blades, which float in the air and when the light is reflected of them, the resmble falling Sakura blossoms. Now that we all know what we are talking about, we'll analize it: its attacking prowess in its initial bankai form, millions and millions of petal-blades, isn't all effective. The cuts aren't concetrated and most likely are also not too deep, due to the small size of the blades. Also, despite the huge number of cuts and the great bloodloss (Shiba Ganjuu, for example, near lost his life to the mere shikai), a strong Shinigami can survive a direct hit (Abarai Renji, Bice-Captain of the 6th division, still managed to stagger to his feet and launch one final and desperate strike at Byakuya, after recieving a direct hit by the bankai, and Kurosaki Ichigo was still in fighting shape after being huit directly by the bankai while in shikai mode), and thus, its killing power is not all too effective in this form. However, attack and defence are well balanced in this form, making it a very good weapon for a careful player waiting till his opponent will tire, thus it may not be most effective in killing but is still a superb weapon.

When Senkei Senbonsakura Kageyoushi is unleahed, however, the situation changes drasticaly. As Byakuya himself states, all defence is abandoned and the power is focused upon killing the enemy. As we've seen, the swords are very effective in cutting the enemy, and a skilled swordsman can utilize this to great effect, as Byakuya indeed does.

Of Shuukei Senbonsakura Kageyoushi, I feel there is not much need to analize, as we all know it is but a huge cutting wave, which is somewhat of a final, desperate yet cool strike done to dramaticaly finish the fight. I think that it has a superior killing ability to the Senkei, because it is even more concentrated, but I also think that it should be used for quicker offence.

And so, for Senbonsakura Kageyoushi, we can state that it is an excellent killing weapon, but definetly not the best.

2. Kokojou Tengen Myuou, wielded by Komamura Sajin, Captain of the 7th squad of the Gotei 13:
We haven't seen much (in fact, we've seen none) of this weapons forms, abilities, advantages and siadvantages, but I suspect that, due to its lumbering form and great bulk, that it is a weapon used by sheer force, somewhat of a Gundam or an Eva unit.

Thus, it can be concluded, unless some other information appears, that this is not one of the more proficient killing bankais.

3.Suzumishi, Tsuishiki , Enma Korogi, wielded by Tousen Kaname, Captain of the 9th squad of the Gotei 13:
This bankai is the most effective in disabling the opponent, thus signifies an easy kill.

Thus, I will give Enma Korogi the title of the "best killing bankai", until (or if) I come upon something different.

4. Daiguren Hyourinmaru, wielded bya Toushiro Hitsugaya, Captain of the 10th squad of the Gotei 13:
Hyorinamru is, as we all know, an elemntal weapon. Specifically, it wields the elemnt of water, using it as ice. Although ice and cold are mighty weapons when wielded right (and when are powerful enough), it is not a very effective killing weapon, for it must actually freeze the opponent, whic may not happen if the foe is fast and good enough to dodge it (or if they wield a weapon contradicting ice, such as fire), and since this is sci-fi and Bleach we're talking about, if the foe is mighty enough, then the ice can be broken and does not ensure a kill (check out Hitsugaya's latest battle in the manga).

Hence, although it is a mighty weapon, it does not earn the title of the "best Bankai".


5. Konjiki Ashisougijizou, wielded by Kurostsuchi Mayuri, Captain of the 12th squad of the Gotei 13:
This bankai is, unedniably, the most effective one for killing. The poison it breathes will kill anyone who breaths it. Unless one can kill Mayuri or disable his bankai and flee far enough all the while holding their breath, then without the antidote (ironically, or rather, pragmaticaly, held by Mayuri and Nemu only, probably to make sure that lab-rats are left alive in case they are needed), the death of the opponent is assured, regardless of Mayuri's condition.

And thus, the award of "best killing bankai" goes to Konjiki Ashisougi Jizou.

6. Hihiou Zabimaru, wielded by Abarai Renji, Vice-Captain of the 6th division:
Although an excellent weapon (a whip with a blade, and all that with great bulk, great manouverability and speed, plus it is almost indestructible), it is not most efficient with killing an opponent, as a fast or small opponent will be able to dodge its mighty strikes.

7. Ryuumon Houzikimaru, wielded by Madarame Ikkaku, 3rd seat of the 11th squad of the Gptei 13:
Just like Hihiou Zabimaru, this has not the needed qualifications to recieve the best killer award.

Non-Gotei 13 Bankai wielders:
1. Tensa Zangetsu, wielded by Kurosaki Ichigo, teenager, 15, Substitue Shinigami:
Tensa Zangetsu is very misterious. Although we know its basic funsction is to vastly increase the wielder's speed, both in attacking and moving, and it has one basic attack, the famous Getsuga Tenshou, we don't know (neither does Ichigo, but that's really beside the point) if it has more attacks, abilities or forms. based on what we do know, however, it is an excellent tool for 'hit-and-run' operations, assassinations and ambushes, for due to the great speed of the wielder, the enemy will be dead faster than they realize a blade is cutting them. This still does not match up tp Konjiki Ashisougi Jizou, as it can miss the kill.

Well then, I've analized for the best of my ability these sword, and thus conclude that the title "best killer bankai" goes to Konjiki Ashisougi Jizo, which is a weapon that will most certanly bring about the death of the foe (unless of course, that foe is saved by the unexpected act of kindness from a kind doughter to an unkind and sadistic father. That apple fell a LONG way from the tree).

Another "best" might be in-combat best. This does not mean it is a sure-kill sword, but rather one that gratns its user the best advantage in a fair fight, without the air itself turning poison. I'll not boast to be any battle expert, but I think I can present a few thoughts and see to whom will this title go.

Not much to say of this of this weapon, for little is known, but it appears to be based upon sheer brute strength, which means it is less for strategy, more for barreling your opponent away.

4. Suzumishi, Tsuishiki , Enma Korogi, wielded by Tousen Kaname:
This is also a superb weapom of strategy and tactics. If used correctly, it grants the wielder a great field advantage. With the senses disabled, save for touch, the wielder can kill at his leisure (that is, assuming he is not fighting Zaraki Kenpachi, who is so crazy he is never afraid).

5. Dai Guren Hyourinmaru, wielded by Hitsugaya Toushiro:
Ice is a very unteresting element, as it can be used in countless defensive ways. An ice wall, for example, will serve as an excellent barrier for the user to plan his fight, or survery his surroundings. Ice can also be used to confuse opponents, to mask one's presence, etc. etc. The ways to use it are countless.

6. Konjiki Ashisougi Jizo, wielded by Kurostsuchi Mayuri:
in terms of killing advantage, this Zanpakutou is unrivaled. It will kill, no matter what. But, in terms of strategy, it is pretty mcuh forward, and if not for its poison, it would be rather dull.

7. Hihou Zabimaru, wielded by Abarai Renji:
much like Renji's personality, this bankai is rather straight forward. It does not grant its user any strategic advantage, but tacticially speaking, it is a superb weapon.

8.Ryuumon Houzukimaru, wielded by Madarame Ikkaku:
Just like Renji's, it is stragihforward in combat, and is not much of a strategy ensuer.

Well, best bankai, then, is Dai Guren Hyourinamru. The number of ways to use ice for advantage in combat... that's why they need a genius to wield it (hey wait, I'm praising Hitsugaya!).

Aizen's bankai, definately. Aizen stopped and nearly killed Ichigo in his bankai form with just ONE finger. His Shikai can completely hypnotize ppl, and you CANNOT DODGE IT NO MATTER WHAT. That sounds like bankai to me, but it's only a shikai. I shudder to think about his Bankai.

However, the coolest Bankai I think is Byakuya's. I think sakura blossoms are pretty.

Yeah well, Aizen's Shikai requires the victim to actually see the release before the hypnosis can begin, so if the victom can avoid eye-contact with the blade (or if he moves to fast for Aizen to know where to direct the blade to, hint hint), they're pretty much secure from his shikai effects. As for his bankai, yes, it may be super-ultra badass, but fact is we don't know what it is, hence we cannot actually see if it has any weaknesses.

Yeah, a Zanpakutou is a reflection of its owner's personality (examples: Matsumoto being lazy and selfish, Ikkaku being very laid back and sleepy until its ime to act, Renji's being somewhat of a ruffian and yet having a smart and calm side), so if we can speculate about a Zanpakutou's nature if we know thw owber's personality.

As stated above, each Zanpakutou reflects its wielder's personality, and since Mayuri is a man of many tricks and deceptions along with inhuman cruelty, I don't think that there is another way to cure the poison without his antidote.

as for being able to move to fast for aizen, I think that might happen. since in the manga he's learning how to use his hollow powers to their full extent. Since it's ichigo, he might be able to learn and control them fully for an extended amount of time.

Huh, its like D&D dexterity builds vs strength builds - strength builds do moer damage and can take more, but dexterity builds get hit less, and hit for less. In the end it's all personal preferance. I prefer speed myself though.

In terms of effectiveness, Ichigo's bankai wins slightly over Mayuri's bankai. If Mayuri faced off against Ichigo, it would end up in a draw. Ichigo is fast enough to kill Mayuri before he liquidizes himself, but speed is not enough to avoid posion. Which is why it ends in a draw.

Why did i rank Ichigo's bankai higher then? Because Mayuri's bankai is weak against elemental bankai (i think). Hitsugaya's bankai would be pretty effective against Mayuri (not to mention Yama's SHIKAI). Ichigo on the other hand, could easily beat Hitsugaya's bankai with his speed AND his Getsuga Tenshou. Which is why the slight edge goes to Ichigo.

The reason why Mayuri ends up second, is because his bankai is a type of bankai that can atleast force a draw out of opponents more powerful than him. If Mayuri fought Zaraki, i believe that would end in a draw as well, since i think Zaraki DOES have the capabilities to kill Mayuri before the poison is able to kill him. Ichigo is stronger than Zaraki, yet he also would gain a draw. Mayuri's bankai is truly nasty.

You forget that he has to go through that lengthy summoning period for his bankai. If he was already trapped in Tousen's bankai, then he would be very dead. Also, senbonzakura (shikai) really doesn't pose a threat to Tousen in his current state. I won't elaborate further on that.

tensa zangetsu is indeed the sleekest, but its a bankai for offense, not so much defense.
Senbonzakura is a well rounded attack as it both defends the user ie byakuya and also attacks crazily. it engulfs the enemy inside it etc.
whereas the only advantage for tensa zangetsu is probably its speed which could be deemed as a defense in a way, but i disagree with that, it only gives the attack that extra *umph*.

I'd have to say it's a three-way tie for a few reaons. The bankai's that tied in my opinion are: Mayuri Kurotsuchi's Konjiki Ashisogi Jizou; Kaname Tōsen's Enma Kōrogi; and Tōshirō Hitsugaya's Daiguren Hyōrinmaru.

Mayuri's- breathe and die...simple enough.

Tōsen's- Collapses all senses...if that isn't effective or badass I don't know what is.

Hitsugaya's- If I looked correctly, when he used it on Aizen, Tōshirō was able to engulf his opponent's body in ice...if that makes said opponent's body ice as well all he would have to do is smash it and you're DEAD.

Byakuya's Senkei and Hakuteiken are pretty devastating, but Senbonzakura Kageyoshi is just a souped-up version of his shikai. Tousen's Enma Cricket is the most powerful, as it denies four souces of sensory input to his enemies. I never understood why he didn't just stab Zaraki in the heart or decapitate him when he had the chance (before Kenpachi thought tactics through).
Maybe because Kenpachi kept dodging.
He still had his sense of touch, so he
1. Could feel Tosen coming slightly (air movement)
2. Could feel the blade enter his clothing, and scrape his skin

Reacting to these, he dodged. So an attempted stab at the heart, or decapitation, probably wouldn't have worked anyway.

Alrighty, I still don't think Byakuya's bankai could be described as the BEST though, it still relies on his fighting abilities, wich are impressive no doubt, but if someone's a better warrior and got past his Shinkai, then there'd be quite a battle
