Why female Shingamis dont wear Kimono?

its like all female shinigamis in the manga/anime wear male japanese clothing ( i dont know what do it called by name) =þ

male japanese clothing is "hakama". Well, if all shinigami women wear kimono, they can't move freely :LOL:, but I think Nemu is wearing short kimono.

Well I guess being a Death God there comes a standard uniform, so they really dont have much choice. Besides, most Death Gods, if you look in the later episodes, customise their clothes a little so to make them more feminine in some cases (the 10th leuteninent is one)

Meh, I dunno how tradition goes, but to me I think its good that they all wear the same thing. Makes it more standard and unbiased to me ^_^

yup, I think it's cool that the female/male shinigami all wear the same thing; I guess it seems more militaristic that way or something~~. Besides, if they wore kimonos they won't be albe to move freely much less fight now, would they.

Male clothes aren't called Hakama, just so ya know (Hakama are the pant-like things they wear.) I beleive male Kimono are just that...Kimono o.0

Either way, it'd be rather difficult for a female to fight in a traditional woman's Kimono, seeing as they were worn tight, and generally have those really big and and fancy Obi (belts)

The shinigami outfits are interesting. I find it cool tha despite the fact that everyone wears the same uniform they still manage to look completely different. Like Nemu and Nanao wear skirts and stuff like that.

Hakama are also worn by miko's (priestess) so it's really a unisex outfit. Also - men can wear kimono's. Not a whole lot of gender differation going on in Japanese clothing.

Yeah, Hakama skirts and pants. Pants were first, followed by skirts. The Hakama was pretty much invented to keep a person's legs from chafing while riding a horse.

i like pants like that just cuz theyre not tight. i seriously love really baggy pants, so comfortable.

BUT! yeah i think the stealth assasin thing is like the chinese girl in Kill Bill Vol 1. and yeah that would be cool, but its been done, so im sticking with the hakama look (unless theres a rukia kimono wall scrool *drool*) just for the awesome way it looks when moving... something about the way the clothing makes the movements all look so fluid...
