How?

An old one of mine... I was kinda going through a rough patch and this was the result... Thought I'd post it.

How?

Why do you chase me away?
You say I’m meant to be your protector…
How can I protect you when you run away from me?

You fear I judge you weak,
So you fear your own weakness
In the fear of my opinion…

Why should I judge you?
Why should I look down on the person
That has been my strength?

You defend shadows with your life.
You assume you can read a person’s mind.
You fight with enemies who reside within your own…

Because your imaginary foes take the forms of those you love
You push the realities away in fear,
Fear that your illusions might hurt you.

How can I help you when you push me away?
How can I comfort you when all you hear is lies?
How can I show my love to you when all you see is:

Judgment…

Betrayal…

Failure…

An Illusion…

I only wish I knew how…

very nicely written, it potrays your feelings and emotions well in series of questions, directed to yourself yet the reader too. The reader finds himself asking the same question, the answers slip between the cracks of my fingers. well done.
