The Bleach Anime will hit the DVDs in America, so lets think about this, before it'll come. If it came, then I'm out of touch with latest news on anime.
Would we rather watch the anime with the Japanese voices or English voices?
was this meant to be a joke or do you want to see how the japanese version owns. Wait for the dubs to start showing, or itll be biased judgement. *shrug* I dont get to watch the dubs, so subs, lol.

Have to be japanese...from the dubbed episodes of other animes I have seen, they don't have the same emotion and intensity as the subbed episodes.
My opinion :)

I usually prefer whatever voices were on the original because I get accustomed to it. Since I'm already used to everyone's Japanese voice, it would feel awkward if it suddenly changed on me.

The Japanese voices are the original, and are what belong. Boy would it be un-original to rewing my life, and change everyones voice to another language. That would not be as cool as my actual voice ya know.
Besides, Bleach is NOT being done by 4KIDS so the DVD's will always be bilangual. And I think they will be out in america as Blueray by then.

I'd say Japanese, I'm afraid I don't really like the idea of having the listed voice actors for the dub doing their parts for various reasons that I don't wanna explain here DX.. Newho, I'm voting for the Japanese voices all the way.

What's the point of this vote if even people who like dubs will pick Japanese just because they've been used to it for the last months to years?

Maybe yeah, but still, I don't think the VA's they picked out this time, match the character personalities that well. From what we know, the English voice actor's for Ichigo is more suited for bubbly and outgoing characters. I'm not sure if he can pull off gruff and sober.

All votes will be biased unless someone is posting who hasn't watched Bleach. Before I started reading the Naruto manga and anime in subs I first watched the first Naruto episodes on Cartoon Network... (don't laugh at me!!!) so, I guess i was accustomed to that. When I first started watching the japanese version it all seemed awkward to me, but now I think the Japanese voice acting for that anime is excellent, and i actually think the english version is garbage for the most part. But 99.999% of the time english voice actors don't give forth the same effort and feeling for the role they're playing and miss it or don't hit it quite as good as the japanese voice actors so i'm not getting my hopes up.
But hey I'm very interested to see how it will be for my favorite anime, though I'm troubled that Ichigo will be played by the guy who played Vash the Stampede... Personally I think that guy did a good role as Vash, but he'll have to have real good range to change it to Ichigo...

Hello! :)
I honestly think that this poll should be voted on after the dub version hits the airwaves. I mean no one has heard the dub so I think that it is unfair to judge it yet. So until the dub comes out I am not voting. I am however looking forward to having the experience of hearing Bleach with the English VAs.
gdo01
07-28-2006, 05:58 AM
This is such a stupid poll. It's like asking whether you like this year's American Idol or the person they will pick next year. Of course you don't know how the new one will sound like but you've heard the previous one already and got used to him. Stupid poll and is only being used to spread anti-dub sentiments that will one day send anime right back to Japan to never be exported again.
And like the previous poster has stated, I will also withhold voting until I hear the new voices rather than prejudge.

Japanese of course, they seem to put more feeling into the character. The english dubbed sounds like they are reading from the script, in my opinion.

It all matters on what version I see first, I seem to like the voices I get used to. Like for Bleach, I've only watched it in japanese--so when the english comes out I probably won't like it because I think their japanese voices are 10 times better.

Anyways, I like certain kind of voice actors. Sometimes I like Japanese and sometimes English but honestly I think Rukia's Voice actor (japanese) is better.

I definetley prefer the japanese VA's, anime=made in japan that's why it's natural that the jap VA's fit much more than the english Va's.

This is not even fair for the english votes. The Bleach dub haven't been aired yet and there's already a poll judging which is better? Some people only voted Japanese because everyone steoreotypes that dubs are all bad and I'm not exactly supporting them, but isn't it not fair to vote when you didn't hear both Bleach dubbed and japanese? I have heard dubs that, in my opinion, is better than the japanese voice.
Eventhough it was aired, I think most people would go wih japanese voice still because they got used to that voice.

>>I really appreciate the effort of dubbing animes to make us understand better what the show wants to tell us.. but the strong feelings that they are portraying through their voices were'nt as good as the jap version. they lack the fire and sometimes the voices doesn't even match the character. But then, since I haven't heard the dubbed version of bleach, i can't say that i am not in favor of that so i'll just also hold my vote for now.. :D
This one if of course Japanese... Whoever that one person who picks Englihs must be very strange.

I always buy and watch anime in the traditional japanese, I think that just sounds more natural, even if I have to read the subtitles to understand it.
I don't really know about the bleach english voices, the guy from Trigun doesn't fit ichigo. I think he needs a deeper voice to suit his darker more powerful side.

Original Jap., I'm not saying that English is bad, because I think it it won't be because the Dub of Vash (trigun) will be the same for Ichigo.
But the japanese voices are mostly/normally simply better.

Japanese all the way. Doesn't matter which anime it is, you lose the intensity of the show, even though they do their best in dubs, it's not the same if it isn't in Japanese.

I have posted in this topic already, but there are no way someone can pick english yet because you guys have not even heard english dubbed bleach yet. You guys are making the poll and topic title sound more like "dub or sub" more now. It's obvious all votes goes to japanese when all we have heard were japanese.

Yeah, Yuzu has the same helium voice as every other cute girl in US dubbed anime. Ichigo sounds like some emo kid making an audio diary "Today... I became.. a... soul reaper!!" Rukia sounds like the vocalised thought-bubble of some Ghost Town girl. When it gets to the more lively voices like Kon, the American voices will really show their weaknesses.
Man, don't even get me started on the crappy hollow voice "Raarrgh! I am a being of unimaginable evil!" So cheesy you could eat it on crackers.

The dubs are all the same people. Some of the voices make me think of characters from other series that I watched in english. The japanese do that less often.

I think that when animes are still in Japanese they sound a lot better than the English dubbed ones. There's also the fact that the English dubbed ones sound very different because we are so used to hearing the Japanese voices. But all in all, I prefer the Japanese voices.

Hmm.. I dunno.
I prefer to hear the Japanese voices when watching an anime, however, I don't like having to read the subtitles..
I like the English voices because I can understand what they are saying, and pay attention to the action more..
As for the Bleach English voices. I think they are pretty good, with the exception of Rukia. It's not that the voice actor is bad, it's just that..well.. It doesn't fit her. I can't explain what kind of voice she should have, I just know it ain't that one... :whatevah:

EDIT 2: AND HOW MANY OF THESE THREADS HAVE TO BE MADE? There's like, 90000 of them, just worded differently. And they all end the same. yes it is still to early to judge the dub, and the dub exsist to bring in more viewers of a popular show and make more money off it.

I do like the J-voices better but I don't dislike the english voices really. Of course some characters voices sucked some actually took on the tone pretty well. I'm really worried about how their gonna make Renji's and Byakuyas. The problem that I have with the english dub is the translation or editing. They just made it seem too chilidish. It's on adult swim yet they still did a little like Naruto. Changing what is said to make it more appropriate.

I'm definitely going to have to say Japanese voices! They always manage to screw up the english voices... It's weird getting so used to hearing the Japanese voices, then changing to english voices. Well, at least they didn't mess up Ichigo's english voice... it's really not that bad.
SlimsMcGee
09-22-2006, 04:51 AM
I don't think it is the voices themselves, rather it is the acting behind it. Johnny Basch does have a good depth and tone for Ichigo, but just doesn't pull off the characteristics well. When Ichigo is frustrated his temper easily shows, as to where the english dub plays him off as more sarcastic. Rukia is just too proper and soft toned. I think they could have found a better v/a for her. It seems like a lot of the girls suffer from that bad acting on there thus far, though. Chad, on the other hand, doesn't fit at all.. He sounds near robotic. I hope they can mold these voices over the days to come.

Christ, the insanity of you people never ceases to amaize me. Chad sounds "near robotic" how the hell can you possibly come to this conclusion when the only thing he's said thus far is "Will you need any help?" I mean, for ****'s sake, how much emotion are you expecting out of a statement like that? All you little Sub-eleitists always go on and on about how the subs are always going on about how the Japanese VA's add soo much more emotion to every line. You are aware it is possible to add too much emotion? Its called over acting and its bad.

I dont get to watch dubs...but on second thought, i wouldnt want to watch them anyway. I prefer it to be authentic. In jap animes, the voices made the characters seem alive....and unique on its own. But when it is being dubbed....it just takes the liveliness out of the characters....

Well because I do not speak Japanese, but I understand English among other languages. So I prefer to watch animes in one of those languages, English for example. If there are available, but if not I use subbed episodes.
