It's kidna odd really, kichi your improving more with lightong in your past sigs than you are with BG. BG is usually the beginner one and lighting comes way after... Odd, but interesting. If your going to improve lighting even more, you should squeeze that light span and source by a lot. It's very dominant in your tag, taking almost 1/3 of it. remember lighting used to encrease depth in a tag with is based on your BG most of the time. Your current BG skills is very near the bottom, lighting on it now doesn't help it all that much. And your lighting is part of of your BG, not an element of enhancing your depth.

So yeah, concentrate on making a whole tag, focus on BG when your completely done (excluding text if you want), then as your final step add lighting. If done properly you'll see the difference it creates in depth. Make a v1 without lighting and a v2, with. And everyone should eb able to help you.

@that pro guy: yo... I think that overall, he may not be pro, but I think certain tags (certain effects) are damn hawt. In particular I love the effects on his panda tag. The lighting in that one isn't that great, but it's still freakin nice.

@trev's abstrract: lol yeah it looks pretty damn good. Just enhance the lights a bit more and make the text smaller.

@trev's RL: oh shiet brightness~! It goes from light to dark too suddenly and some parts are sharp when they shouldn't be. Composition is good, but blur the arm for better depth.

@trev's latest (man, you make a crapload lot of sigs...): It still looks pretty flat and I'm not too fond of the colouring.

@Kichi's latest: Lighting goes OVER the stock, yo. The way you have it now with the lighting only on the BG and stock on top, it looks hella flat and not blended. Enhance the intensity of the light, but don't let it spread out as far, and put the lighting over the render. And brush some black set soft light on the far side of your sig.

@Tats' latest: I agree with Richy and the text + poem = bad. Also, the light source is coming from the wrong side considering the shadows of the render you used. Try putting for effects on top of the render.

...hmm CnCing this sig gave me the crazy idea of using text as effects. I gotta expound on this...

Hinata, awsome. But if you played around with some layer modes and opacities teh BG would end up looking better. SOme effects are overcontrasted. Try using less linar/color dodge. And if you do use it, lower the opacity.

Yeah, I agree with Havoc, much better than the other one. Text needs blending as well, and light is too strong. Add more too it, avoid a mess though. Instead of Linear Dodge, I usually use Lighten.

Refried, I mainly use Phobucket, and for tutorials I use Imageshack. Except Imageshack has screwing with my latest tutorial, and I had to upload it somewhere else, and link it as a hotlink. Dunno what wrong, or what a proxy is. O_o

Big... wow... but it's okish, I think effects on your stocks are your biggest weakness. Try some filters, I find them pretty easy to use, just be sure to erase some, and lower opacity, set lighten, etc. if needed, don't make the effects too blatant, or repetitive.

I agree with what RH said, everything I've seen from you except that Matsumoto one has been the same style, try something with almost nothing you usually do, even if the outcome sucks, try it again, you might get better at it, the more styles you can get good at, the better.

Again, it happens to be one of your best lol. Depth is very very nice on this one. The white brushing under left arm is weird, but done well on right. If you can consistantly stay at this level, you'll need to start using negatve space, text is decent... contrast is a bit off.

That's red, I did a pink, but didn't upload it... The coloring is just done with a white to lightish red gradient map, so pretty much everything in between those two colors would look pink.

Erm, change in SOTW was because of biased popularity winners pretty much. So we decided to analyze more to give points. As for yureii, he proved that he can judge quite adequately actually. I guess it showed that he does have abilities beyond soft smudge... He just doesn't show them as much here on cb.

I think Yuurei's gotten better, his SotW entry wasn't much good, but his reclass ones were, gfx crew should matter less about skills, and more about how you can class... you do have to take a classing test, but the you don't need to be super good at making tags if you know what's good in one.
