She writes fantasy genre books...

IF you like david eddings then you should like Robin...

@ Teddy ...Yea assasins quest is the third in the first trilogy she did..

I havn't read it though i've only read the live ships trilogy and i'm currently reading the soldiers son trilogy...

What is the assasins trilogy like and about?

Ive read the Assassin series, Liveship traders and the Tawny man series.

Her books are, in my opinion, the greatest fantasy novels out there. They get a little depressing sometimes, but I find they spark real emotion from me (Nighteyes T_T)

Assassin and Tawny man trilogies are about this guy named Fitz Chivalry (The bastard of chivalry). They are better than the Liveship traders and they are set in the same world as Liveship traders. Amber and Jek make an apperance in the Tawny man trilogy.

Sweet....

The first Live ships traders book really pulled me into her whole collection though i must admit after the first the second and third books really did surprise me the way they headed...And yea they do get kinda depressing sometimes..

Though the live ships were the first ones i read i only just got the first soldier son tirlogy book out the other week and finished it a while ago..I must say that she writes her books and takes alot of turns and plot twists that you don't expect to happen...

She takes the genre and adds her own little uniqueness to it..

Don't think i know tawny man..

As to the soldiers sons...I don't think it is it's set with the cavelry with muskets in it in a country by the name of gernia...

It is set inland though and as a really small presance of magical working in it..It's mostly about how civilisation includes the destruction of the natural habitate and how the magic suffers as a result and such...

It doesnt sound like the same world...just because theres no Mention of the Six Dutchies there.

I might read it...after exam season

Tawny Man series:

Shit thats a lot...

The first book in the series is a continuation after the time skip from the Assassins trilogy events.

Fitz Chivalry Farseer live in a little cottage. For a while all that happens is memories and visits from people and talking to his wolf Nighteyes. His adopted son Hap returns from a journey with an old friend of his, Starling. Fitzy has sex with Starling, finds out from Hap that she is married and kind of throws her out.

Fitz has two special abilities:
1. The Wit. Ability to talk and form connections with animals. People with the Wit usually choose one companion. They can also transfer their minds into the animals.
2. The Skill. This is another mental ability. Kind of hard to explain but basically it is used to crush peoples minds and can be used to see peoples dreams. Theres a lot more on this but its kind of complicated...

Fitz is approached by either Chade (his old Assassin master) or The Fool to go after Prince Dutiful, who had gone missing prior to his wedding to an Outislander princess (<-- Freaky girl >.>).

Fitz goes to the kingdom of Buckkeep and drops off his son Hap at a carpenter apprenticeship. He then sets out with The Fool and Nighteyes to find/rescue Dutiful from the Piebalds (Wit haters...Dutiful has the Wit and Skill btw)

By the end of the book they rescue him, but Nighteyes dies. I think Fitz is then assigned to protect Dutiful in the kingdom and teach him Wit and Skill use in secret. This then leads into The Golden Fool.

I think the Fool changes colours in every book :D

Its a lot more complex than that as you should know, but thats what I remember...

Once you get into Fool's Fate you should see a familiar dragon from the Liveship series...

Anyway have fun.

I am.....But i think i'll actually put the fools tale down now and wait untill i can get the first book out from the library..I tried reading a couple of chapters and i was way too lost..

Thats the thing about Robins books..They're simple if you read them in order it seems but if you look at it from a different perspective then you find that they are indeed an extremely detailed world with extremly detailed and extensive plots that twist and turn alot..

I read the Fool's series without reading the Assassins series and I kept up ok. When you read the Assassin's series after the Fool's everything makes A LOT more sense >.>

What what what. Did you just finish the entire tawny man series?

Ai
08-22-2006, 05:51 PM
ya uh...

Dude i have unnatural reading speed...

Did those test things where your timed and you read a story and then have to answer questions and stuff about it afterwards...

I always finished first and got 100% of the questions right...The tester thought i cheated but she made me do it alone and in different circumstances and i still smote her down...

It's what comes of reading books that my elder brother and sister used to bring home from senior school when i was in junior school... Twas freaky..But i enjoy my reading.

Reminds me..I need to get the second Soldiers Son book out when i go to the library today.

Na the tawny man seemed to end on a real low i thought..If she had finished it when Fitz had come back after the month lost instead of saying all the stuff about how he was well and the fool and all that and how his life was going then i think it would have ended on a better high
