View Full Version : Problems with subtitles in AMVs...

Okay, I tried to start work on an AMV of Mai HiME today. Unfortunately, unlike with my last AMV, I didn't have the files in convenient .mkv format, so I couldn't simply remove the subtitles. Now, I normally use Windows Movie Maker, but unfortunately, I can't seem to find the function that allows you to create a black bar at the top and bottom, if indeed the function does exist. So if it is possible to do that, I would be very grateful if someone could tell me.

Assuming that no such function existed, I then proceeded to download an illegal copy of Adobe Premiere 7.0 (I know, not the latest version, but the newer ones had too few seeders and too many leechers). Unfortunately, when trying to import my episodes of Mai HiME into Adobe Premiere, I got the message 'Compression type unsupported' or something. Anyways, I did some research, and found out that it would work if the .avi file is in 'HuffYuv' encoding. I proceeded to download the 'HuffYuv' codec. Unfortunately, I now cannot find any way to use this 'HuffYuv' thing to convert my regular .avi files into 'Huffyuv' .avi files. So if anyone could help me with this I would also be very grateful.

So to sum up, I need either to be able to create a black bar at the top and bottom in windows movie maker, or to be able to use this huffyuv thing to convert my .avi files into a usable format.

I'm gonna post this both in 'video pro' and in 'computers and tech' because there are probably people in both sections who could help me.

It's strange AVI files is excepted by any program. HuffYuv for me only helps to render AMVs that is all. Maybe DivX codecs will help you.

I'll try getting more codecs, but I'm not sure if that's the problem...I mean...they play ok in regular media players, & I can import them fine into WMM, but for some reason they just don't import into premiere...

i find that programs like adobe and vegas sometimes cant read files that require an Xvid codec

why not try converting your avi files into a different codec it worked for me
