I have made many thoughts and conclusions of what is the purpose of my life, and in many conclusions it leads to a burden of some sort and some kind of duty or some kind of very miserable things :LOL:
So i was wondering wat other people's view is on the purpose of thier life, i personally think that im living a rather comforatable life :toocool:

Ive thought of some kind of contradictory theory of my own. The purpose of somebodys life is to find a purpose. But they have the purpose of life by finding one. Goes in a circle.

i agree. no one is put on this earth knowing y. so i think that our purpose is findin our purpose to live

Ah yes... the meaning of life. People have written entire books the size of the Bible, and some philosophers spend most of their days searching for the answer. And whatever you do, don't try searching for the answer in a Monty Python movie... ("The Meaning of Life")
But I will have to agree with DreadRaven on this one, for purpose is the most important thing a person can have. For, ironically, searching for one's purpose in the world, is indeed, a purpose on it's own. And what is the point in living the world we live in, if you aren't changing it?
A great philosoper once said "Life is a journey, not a destination", and that quote holds true to it's every word. For the destination of all life is death, but the journey, the impact you had on the world, is your legacy.
Personally, alongside this idea of life... I would like to believe that it is also our 'purpose' to love one another, that we should all be accepted as human beings. I know though, that such a Utopian society will never happen, or will be destroyed in a small period of time. However, that doesn't mean we can't make the world better.
Bottom Line: Search for purpose, and leave behind a legacy, so that when the time of judgement comes, you are ready.

I agree with everything that is said here, though instead of "finding" the purpose of life, I would rather say "create" a purpose for your life, and also just live and enjoy it, everything does not need to have a meaning.

This whole thread makes me thing of the Matrix, with Agent Smith always rambling on about purpose.
He's right though - we need one, whether it is provided to us, or we create it ourselves.
Living and existing are two different things, definitely.

I cant remember where i saw it, probaly some bad hollywood film but i dont like the idea of having my destiny and purpose already in place. Like some people say everything happens for a reason, I prefer to think that im in control and as most of you have said i think we need to create purpose :) (hope that makes sense)

Meh, I'm here, and I like doing the things I do. That's all there is about my life for the time being, I have no significant other at the moment, so I'm pretty much chillin and waiting for school to start ^^
If anyone has seen evangelion's later episodes you can learn a lot about happyness and life.

lol... i agree with finding a purpose... but i think that AFTER you find a purpose of life, you should do it (sounds knda wrong... so ill give an example; your purpose is to kill someone, so you kill them) then you should find a know purpose

am planer type, i like to have everything planned for and not just going like this in life without aplan, that makes unprepared for the life and what could happen in between

agreed. my life:simple. just live to the fullest. if you want it, go for it. no regrets. stay happy, bcuz your life can end at any moment, and you wouldnt want it to end on a bad note. so SMILE... werd?

yeah nut there are some ppl that say that they have found there purpose in life. some say is to live happy and others say is to hve a big family. well finding a purpose is not easy.

Evryone has a different goals in life. Some want to get rich, others want to be happy, others travel the world etc. And goals can become purpose I suppose.
As for me I've (well at least I believe) found my purpose by following my dreams. I also believe that evryone has a role to fullfill in this world, be it for the better or the worst.
Your ticket to the future is always blank regardless of what you plan or think. :-)

Yes I agree with all have a purpose in live. But for me I have another theory. Well maybe some.
1. I think our purpose in live is to live it to the fullest. To be happy to overcome obstacles, to set the ar higher, with each action or success we have. Is to acomplish everything you hope for and live for.
2. The second maybe is because is a second chance to amend something that we could have done in previous lives. (I do believe in this life-after death stuff)
3.Because maybe we never learn something and we have to make a second course. If you don't pass you'll never get to the next level, until you master this situation.
I know maybe look like crazyness, but yes I believe we came here to do something and is up to us to find it out and get stronger in the process

everyone has a purpose in life, even if its to make someone elses better..... they still have a purpose

I believe the goal in life is NOT to be happy, but rather to protect the happiness of OTHERS. I believe the goal in life is to sacrifice hedonistic luxuries for greater goals that will benefit society. I know I would sacrifice everything precious to me for the ppl I care about to be happy, even if it means sacrificing my own happiness. To me, self-pleasures are nothing more than greed and selfishness. I hate living a hedonistic life, as I think that is a very selfish way to live your life.
I would not mind dying on a battlefield if it is for a great cause, such as liberating an oppressed land from a terrible dictator. Gah, I hope I made sense >.<
