How I put Spoilers in a message??

Lately I've been tryin' to post and putting spoilers in them using this option in advanced of the question mark... Anyway, after writing the text which must be in the spoiler, when I submit it, it doesn't appears in the message... Is that normal??? Am I doing something wrong??

oh cmon...theres a FAQ section for a reason...

[*spolier=] *insert whatever here* [/spoiler]

minus the * in [*spolier=]
