MOnster Rancher was awesome, my Elvis CD turned out to be the Phoenix, that was all i remember, lol.

But I didn't want it to die when it expired, so I just froze him till whenever, lol

As mentioned, Pikmin, or possibly Katamari Damacy.

I swear theres many older innovative games, but I'm losing my marbles and can't remember

When Black and White first came out, it was ground breaking. Then it kinda faded away...

After that, for consoles it was kinda all over the place. Ikaruga was pretty innovative, but im having trouble remembering other stuff.

When Starwars galaxies first came out it was innovative by MMO standards, didnt have any one class you were stuck on but instead you could mix and match 32 different jobs under a skill pint system, was funny expermenting on differnent combs instead of being stuck with a single class or something.

the gameplay of DDR is great, but Konami should kind of make something new in the series...

It's kinda old... Normality. They way you had to think in that game was so abstrract! I really did enjoy that...

Actually, come to think of it... Did anyone here ever play Neverhood? Not the best game mind you but I thought that was pretty innovative too.

By genre, and out of the games I actually played, I'd have to say:

First-Person Shooter = Half-Life
Strategy = Homeworld
Roleplaying = Morrowind: The Elder Scrolls III
Other notables = The "Total War" series, The Sims, CounterStrike (more for its influence on the modding community)

Yeah, that was a fun MMO to play..too bad that they screwed it up. SWG had such great potential..*sighs*

Another great game..not 100% innovative but still great is the civilization series. I love how they keep making it feel more like you're building a true empire, adding in religion and other empires. I could play that for hours.

Has anybody here seen Shadow of the Collosus? I would say that's a highly innovative game... I mean come on, there's only 16 enemies to defeat in the whole game! Ok, so most of them are like mobile mountains, but still, I've never seen anything like it before

Theres a group remaking SWG in its original form, go to swgemu.com
once the code is finished and released for people to host servers with it will be free to play, or however each server chooses.

It's a really old game for Sega CD... can't remember the name and vaguely remember the plot, game was made with real life footage... you were this dude implanted with a machine on your head... and some organization is after you... the whole game you're running away from them and all you have to do is just choose what's the next thing the guy has to do right there on the spot as the game is progressing... don't know if anyone would remember this game but I do and it was different than anything else...

has to be Half life, just blew everything else away

the origional Doom and duke nuckem before that, they pretty much set out how it was to be played until half life came along

The HL series.

But HL2 completely added a new aspect to games as a whole with the gravity gun. Still the most important innovation in a game to date - actual INTERACTION with the environment.

Super Smash Brothers, it kind of created a new type of fighting game... Also a game I am playing now called Colosseum: Road to Freedom is somewhat innovative for a Gladiator game, since it takes more skill than button mashing to win. Another good thing about that game is you aren't fighting a million people at once, every enemy is about equal to you, so it is pretty realistic.

innovative? Katamari Damacy or God of War

ah black and white, that game was pretty fun for awhile and it was ground breaking when it first came out but then it was kind of forgotten. Also i would have to say pikmin, even though i didnt really like it, it was definetly different

Republic the Revolution or Black and White. Black and White really was a game like no other for it's time.

Dead Rising is kind of innovaitive. But I play to many games. Most of them are pretty generic. Dead Rising is the game I'm addicited to right now, and it stands out, I've never killed an enemy of any kind with a Clothes Hanger...untill Dead Rising.
