hey today ff7 dirge of cerberus and i was wonder if anyone has played it already and is it worth it?

the graphics are nice, cutscenes from what ive seen are great, and the story seems cool. though it could get confusing, unless youve played FF7 and saw AC. if youve seen those two, you should understand it.

the idea of a shooter/RPG seems cool to me as well...

Well... Judging from the reviews this game got I don't think it'll be as good as I expected it to be. I used to have high hopes for this game considering that Vincent is my favourite FF7 character :). Then again my PS2 is modded and buying the game shouldn't be too expensive, I might just give it a shot :P (I don't really trust gamespot's reviews =/).

Some people don`t like it because there`s a change.I mean the games awesome and don`t bash Square-Enix they`ve made numerous really good games (Kingdom Hearts II, Grandia III, Dragon Quest VIII, FFXII......) I could go on and on.

it may be short but its still a great game i mean the first time u play it will probly take u about maybe 8 or 9 hours, and if u decided to look for every memory capsule that will add like 15 jours to game play unless u cheat and use some guide to find them all hahah :D

true, the only problem i saw was that it was short. i bought it Sat and beat it Sunday night. but i didnt go and find everything, and i only played it on easy difficulty. so i much more to do.

but overall, i think it was great! graphics were definjitely nice, and had that creepy look for Vince, and i like how the game played. though the story did get confusing at some parts to me..>.>

I read reviews and the not so good about this game. Personally I was surprised it's only shooter and only about one character. This game pretty much was maid only for FF funs because no one else will buy it.

My friend beat this in 2 days he said he pwned all the bosses fast and that the game was easy as hell ;D im not sure its worth to buy a game that is gone in a few days he said it was kinda fun and funny but still 2 days

I myself HATE sports games. And I love RPGs. I, however, am not a fan of FF7, so I won't pick up that game. Psh. I still need to get enough cash to get my hands on KH2.. :whatevah:

I havent played it yet but the game play looks like Devil May Cry. Yeah most of the ppl I know play sports games, some of them dont know what it is and tried playing and didnt like it.

yea dirge is like a mix between DMC and RE4 it has the gameplay of DMC but from RE4 u can upgrade weapons and stuff like that



they should advertise these types of games more unlike with sports games where every other commercial is about them

I'm almost done with the game and here's what I like and hate about it:

Like:

Plot: I'm loving it. You can always see the connection of the game with FF7. Vincent's mysterious past is finally uncovered and you get to see a more 'human' side of him during the game.

Music: Its not the best around, but its ok. The music for each boss battle is specific to the boss him/herself. You could almost 'feel' the boss' theme when fighting against him/her. Other than that stage music is mostly covered up with gunfire shots, or something similar so you don't really get to pay much attention to it while playing (You could though ^^). The ending theme of the game is performed by a Japanese artist known as Gackt (pretty well known) and the track's name is called Redemption. I think that track is probably the best track I have heard of him. VERY well done, even if you don't get the game, download that track ;).

Graphics: They aren't fantastic either, but they are acceptably good. FMVs look pretty good though. They used a similar animation style to that of FF7:AC.

Dislikes:

Gameplay: This is where the game is REALLY bad. Gameplay is dull and gets kinda repetitive. Its always like walk around, enemy jumps up on you, R1 button like crazy until you blow its brains out, walk again =/. The aiming system is beyond miserable. Its too hard to aim perfectly and it takes a LOT of time and patience if you want to snipe someone and kill him with one shot. Did I mention the game is hard? Well it is! I've started on Hard mode since I usually do that with most of my games, but this is friggin' insane! If it weren't for the phoenix downs I buy during the stage I'm playing I would've at least died 2 or 3 times per stage. Melee attacks are terrible. They are too simple and I would've personally liked to see more flashy moves. There are three main combos in the game (actually four if you count the dash attack), one of which is quite hard to connect, and unfortunately its the coolest looking one (I'm referring to the double jump air combo).

Being the Vincent fan I am, I overlooked the horrid gameplay and played the game mainly for its plot. Buying or renting? I say renting. The game is short and is not worth wasting your money on buying it if you don't have a modded PS2. If you do though then buying it will probably turn out to be cheaper :P.

Well, i just finished it a couple days ago, and i must say I agree with the reviews it has gotten whole-heartedly. I am not a FFVII Ego-tard. I have only actually played threw that entire game once.

Truthfully, i figured the game was "Kinda ok, not to bad" pretty much all the way threw. This ended flat-out once the enemies started appearing with Shields like Azul's. The fact that instead of making a new, interestign enemy (they were very lacking) they just took the regualr ones and made them stupid and tedious. this is a HUGE mistake, one that i cannot accept. add on to this the fact that there is no way to tell shielded from non-shielded, and limited ways to break threw it, it just seamed like a feeble attempt to make you use your materia. (I used it very seldom before that)

Add on to this that the only enemy that was even remotely difficult was the Crimson chick, I was very dissapointed in that also. all the others were easily killed almost without gettign hit. I found te last level with all those fucking ranged guys with shields far mroe difficult then any other boss.

The story was slow , boring, and overall junk. Vincent was my second favorite charecter in FF7 (after Red XIII) and this game ruined him for me. Out of all the Tsviets, I dont think you kill a single one.

truthfully, i cant think of anythign really positive to say abotu this game. Cloud's one real appearance, he starts a fight, and then 10 minutes later, the chick he attacked is just chillin elsewhere having a cup of tea. And neither seam to care or notice.... Why did Vincent not be like "ZOMG, Did you killz Cloudz!!!"

Red XIII doesn't make an appearance that T saw. Some of his fugly cousins plauge some of the levels, which is funny, cause i thought he was the only one of his kind left. Maybe he appears in the secret ended. I wont play threw to find out, maybe i'll go see it on Youtube.

I lied, one good thing did come out of this game. after playigng it, I went dusted off my old FFVII CD and booted it back up. Maybei will play threw a second time.

i started playing this yesterday...its not a GREAT game...but its good enough for me...on the plus side, they added a lot of shit in the US version that WASNT in the Japanese version..You can double jump...shoot while jumping..the targeting system was made easier...they added the mission mode...the gameplay speed was increased...A rare occasion where it actually shows Improvement when it comes out of Japan...and the FMVs are bloody gorgeous...if only they had a language selection...gah..

Took me about 5-6 hours to finish, but thats cause i had it on hard, and tried to get all the secrets. got about 80% of the capsules, finsihed that damn 100 man attack fight, and got threw that part with like 7 keycard walls in a row... that one sucked.

yeah i'd say don't buy it. Way too short. it took me 9hrs 20min. That was even to long for that game. The cut sceens take up most of the time. It's almost like watching a movie. The endings okay but like i said i wouldn't buyit. borrow from a friend or rent it.

i noticed that redxiii barely has any major parts. like in ff advent children he says i line ( there are still some children who have the stigma) and in dirge he is sitting on the steps. I thinks it's wrong how they don't include him much.

red xii was okay. I played with him for a short while, but they still should include the characters more and i mean ALL of them. It's better that way at least i think.

The game was pretty cool, except the controls were pretty hard in the beginning........... A must for FFVII fans :)
