Ok guys, here's some info about the PS3. To me, all these info looks rock solid, but it could also change.

Specs (http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/050516/sfm178.html?.v=2)

Looks of the PS3 (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/05/16/screenindex_6124681.html)

After seeing those specs and those images... there's only one thing i can say... i'm that for sure. That console looks WAYYYYY better then the XBOX 360 (http://www.gamespot.com/features/6124293/p-2.html)

And if those things didn't make you salivate enough Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/devilmaycry4/media.html) has some videos of some games coming up for it. It's DEFINATIVELY worth to look at least once.

i'm definatly getting a ps3. i haven't even seen the xbox 360 yet (don't feel like looking for pictures). i wonder how much it will cost though. since gamestop said the video chip by itself is equivalent to two $500 geforce cards

The PS3 is gonna be 35 times more powerful than a PS2. I like the futuristic look but i am not feeling the control

i thought the systems were being released at the same time? and i wonder if these systems are going to be region specific or will play games from anywhere like the psp

i hope its regionless but we can only hope. i wonder what nintendo has planned. i wonder if they can take on sony, which seems to be on a rampage in more than one area. theyve been taking down competition in a lot of fields. the PS3 is incredible. nothing else i know of has dual monitor 1080p output.

And this is what I have been waiting for! I've always been a PlayStation fan since the PS1. When I really felt like buying one, the PS2 was just around the corner, and besides most of the PC games at that time admittedly looked much better than on the PS1, but all that changed with the PS2. Graphics card upgrades, GPUs, video memory, all that stuff started to really matter and I was beginning to hate the PC gaming scene. It took me a long time to save up the money to buy a PS2 - I bought it less than a year ago - but I still feel that was the best 10,000 I spent in my lifetime. If I had spent 10,000 on a Radeon 9600 Pro or a GeForce FX 5700 or something like that, where would that card be today? Or more importantly, where would that card be by the end of 2006? Would it play the new games releasing at that time? With the PS2, I know any game that comes out for it, even two years later, will work on it without any problems. No memory problems, no GPU upgrades, no CPU and motherboard upgrades. Just push play.

Since I started hearing about what Sony had lined up with the PlayStation 3 (the Cell processor mainly), I've been waiting impatiently for the days to pass and get a glimpse of something actually running on that system at E3. The past week I've been downloading videos every day, and I'm not kidding when I say I've already started saving up money to be cryogenically frozen till the end of 2006 when the PS3 goes on sale. When I wake up after that I'll have to start saving money to actually buy the PS3, but I'll deal with that problem later.

Features

The PS3 goes the exact opposite way of the Xbox 360. While that lost some weight and turned into a sexy moppet, the PS3 (compared to the recent slim avatar) just put on a few pounds and looks very satisfied with that. But are we satisfied with it? I personally take more to the Xbox 360's concave styling than the PS3's paunch.

The PS3 will support a wide variety of media - including all original PS1 and PS2 games (yeah all, not just the best sellers), SACDs, DualDiscs and DVD video. The native PS3 disc format is Blu-Ray (BD-ROM) and all the related formats are supported. There's no mention of any HD-DVD support. In this comparison, the PS3 is clearly a better choice because its future proof with the inclusion of Blu-Ray support, something the "complete entertainment center" Xbox 360 does not have (no Blu-Ray, no HD-DVD).

Like the Xbox 360, the PS3 will also come with a detachable laptop 2.5" hard disk drive slot, but won't ship with a drive by default, unlike the Xbox 360. It will feature a Memory Stick slot, and even SD and CompactFlash card slots. There are six USB ports in total, for God knows what all accessories. There's WiFi, Bluetooth and Gigabit LAN support built right in.

The PS3 will offer games in standard aspect ratio, as well as HD mode (720p, 1080i/p). There are two HDMI outputs, so you connect two HDMI displays and probably have the Nintendo DS-style game here and stats there type of an interface. Just guessing - it could also be used effectively for multiplayer games where P1 takes one screen and P2 takes another. Gotta love racing on that Sound output is complete with Dolby 5.1 channel as well as DTS output via digital optical as well as analog out.

Very good system specs Leaf. But regretfully i have to inform u people that the PS3 may be powerful in some areas compared to the 360 and Revolution but most of the specs in the 360 are better. I hate XBOX and Microsoft. Hopefully the people at sony will remedy this problem.

THIS IS PULLED FROM AN IGN PAGE: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/617/617951p1.html

Central Processing Unit (CPU) performance.

The Xbox 360 CPU architecture has three times the general purpose processing power of the Cell.

Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) performance

The Xbox 360 GPU design is more flexible and it has more processing power than the PS3 GPU.

Memory System Bandwidth

The memory system bandwidth in Xbox 360 exceeds the PS3's by five times.

MY THOUGHTS:
i may be off in this speculation, but lets look at the current consoles and make a few comparisons.

PS2: the oldest, only 20MB RAM
XBox: the newest, 64MB RAM

considering the hanidcap of the RAM deficit, sony still managed to make better utilize their RAM. and they managed to build a better console and offer more games than microsoft did.
