On AOL Instant Messager, I saw a headline about new airport scanners. This is an article about it:

http://intraa.tgcrossroads.org/connections/story/?iid=40&aid=988

The first thing to pop in my head was, "I will never go to an airport again". Just look at how much they can see (note that people who do not wish to see an overly detailed picture of an old lady, don't click. I'm not sure if you could call this 'nudity', but it's somewhere close...):

This is a complete violation of privacy, and it should not be legal anywhere. What do you think? (Oh, and you know that there will be a great new site called AirportNudes.com coming shortly after. :rolleye09 )

I agree with you, cause they can just increase that and go right through the clothes.
Airport people are weird if your dark skinned to(my dad has a heavy tan) and they put him to the side and we have to wait 15 min.

Yea, it's because of the whole 9-11 thing. It's all complete bs though...just another reason for them to be racist/stupid. This is getting just a tad off topic, but the other day we had an activity where we had to list things/people that we were prejudice/racist against. I was amazed to see how many people at my school were like that, and almost fell out of my chair as they shared their comments. One that annoyed me the most was a girl who said that she hated "chinks" and how they should "go back to their own damn country". Wow, maybe she forgets that her ancestors came here on a ship? There were also the obvious black hating white and white hating black comments too…it’s all so ridiculous. Feh, this subject gets me too mad...I'll just leave it alone. Anyway, I don't want "nude airport pictures" of me floating around on the internet. -.-

Man, I'm sure happy I never take the airplanes for travelling.
(I hardly ever travel.)

Well there is advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages, safety.
Disadvantages, violation of privacy and human rights.

My idea; I'm against it.
However I'll be supporting it if they could employ me as a security at the airport.*lol* (jokin')

Heh, and you called me the jerk? Like I said, people are racist to a certain extent, whether you like to believe it or not.

On topic: I'm against it. I don't want anyone seeing my 10 incher! :musak:

interesting link - the first one. a transgender advocacy site? is transgender a person of one sex who feels like they were "born into the wrong body"? or is it when they have one of each (sexual organs)?

definately puts a whole new spin on the right to privacy issue the scanners raise.

i'm against them - by the way. too much freedom is being sacraficed in the name of public safety.

The advantages and disadvantages according to Jinchuu are true enough, and I do agree that it's an invasion of privacy. However, the overall effect is that it makes people feel safe. It's just another way in which people unknowingly give up more rights just for a sense of saftey. However, because of the violations that many people believe they are receiving, can't they have an alternate way to check security, such as the metal detecting hand devices?
