Should there be resrtictions on them or not?
i believe at the rate we are going at, we will deplete the ozone layer, and then we will all be doomed due to solar rays, and such..whats yours opuinion? :whatevah: time to debate

I think the scientists are working on another alternative fuel.. until then, we'll just have to continue the usage of the fossil fuels until the scientists come up with a good alternative or when the situation worsens badly!

dude, i think we should restrict it. i know people are looking for alternatative sources of power. since we are going to be having earth for a while we need to take care of it. i don't like the idea of drilling for oil in alaska.. grr.

Just try and take it away from me.. Lets see what happens..

I think a better idea would be to ban the larger countries from using fossil fuels, yeah id agree to that.. Alternatively they could ban all countries whose names don’t begin with the letter E... There’s 2 compromises right there.. I’m not driving an electric car.

I’m not even sure how we go about phasing out fossil fuels anyway.

This might/will sound selfish but if its not a problem in my life time then I don’t see any reason to care..

And I mean Mcloud did find a way round it in Highlander 2...

I actually know that there are already alternative "cleaner" fuels that exist. The oil lobby in the US has kept the majority of it under wraps. There are already existing engines that have been designed for them also.... but Saudi oil is still cheaper than changing the world over to different fuels.. and it costs big bucks to get change your machinery etc.... The technology is out there...a side product of the oil crisis in the 70s. Its just not real well known information but there is just not a big reason for anyone to spend the money.... status quo is just cheaper and easier in big business' mind.

It's not that we should ban fossil fuels. We should be lessening our usage of them. Fossil fuels at the moment keep our economy going. It is a huge industry and provides many jobs. If we stom using them, many will lose jobs, they won't be able to buy products, which will in turn create less revenue for industry and cause job loss, it's a cycle. By curbing the amount of fossil fuels we use, we won't cause lasting harm on the economy, but we also slow down the destruction of the ozone until better fuels are implemented into modern day society.

obviously you guys havn't seen the news all that much?
there is a engine that runs off alternative fuels other then fossil fuels but the government is keeping it low so as not to sell it because if ppl start filing there cars with sumthing other than gas a large chunk of the countrys economics will fall off,
the government only allows electric cars because we need to pay money to charge that and the car isn't good at all only for the enviroment. not to mention electricty bills....

There exists a car that runs on water...
It only keeps getting concealed as it isn't profitable.
Anyway...
It's not Fossil fuels that ruin the ozone layer. The hole above western countries is shrinking right now.
On the other hand. Above Afrika it is growing.

Alternative fuels exist only because one day fossil fuels will run out. That's all there is to it really...
The Earth will be destroyed anyway... So what's the point. Better find a way to get off this rock ASAP.
We really need intergalactic travel.

But... We can't use fossil fuels for that...
So, we really need an infinite power source.

It runs off sea water. I wouldn’t call it concealed tho, they test drove it on top gear (British car show) a year or two ago. I think it’s supposed to drive just like a normal electric car.... so that’s good I suppose.

I don’t really like the idea of electric cars. They bore me... The continual torque will just make driving even easier... I think? Tho I'd be willing to drive a car with a great big wind turbine strapped to the top of it... that would be cool.

I'm really looking forward to paying the tax on water...

electric cars are ridiculous anyways. how do you think most of the electricity is generated? most of it is generated with fossil fuels.

as for fossil fuel use - we are now on the downslide of production. i believe oil production peaked in the 70's & 80's - there is a finite amount in the ground. eventually we will run out. i read where some experts predict in the next 10 years there will be a major crunch - and the economic/social outcast is pretty gloomy because of it. (just think of all the things made/run with these fuels.) if we are to invent a reasonable and logical substitute to fossil fuels - it needs to be done within the next five years.

We as a society are too dependent on modern technology. We not only need to develope a viable subsitute, we need to cut down on our current source. Five years may not be enough time to create that substitue and the cutdown may be able to extend the time span of which we have.

i did hear some stories of a hydrogen car but the oil companies kept buying them so it wouldn't be mass produced and make the entire oil company's crash
