I think that it will be a close match but Zangetsu will come out on top just for raw power. Hitsugaya has the intelligence and the knowledge but Zangetsu just might come out the winner. Unless Hitsugaya has something else up his sleeve then Zangetsu will just about win.

In terms of a straight battle, no element preferences, they're like.. in a stadium, who'd win? o,O Hitsugaya would only have upper-hands if he had the elemental side of it, and even though he can control the weather, I'm pretty sure he can't turn their surroundings to water? (Considering his zanpakuto is ice-based too)

probably Ichigo would win because even though he's about to loose, there's a possibility that hollow ichiho would appear and do the same as what he did to byakuya. but if that would not happen, i think the one which has greater determination would win.. but most probably it would end up as tie. :D

Uh god, I'm really the only one that's supporting Shiro here... Hitsugaya hasn't fought full out before, therefore we don't know all of his abilities, whereas we've seen all of Ichigo's. I'm still going with Hitsugaya... If Hollow Ichigo comes out, then I guess obviously Ichigo would win.

Seeing what Aizen did to Hitsu, Ichigo's bankai will surely have the necessary speed to emulate Aizen - even tho Aizen may have used an 'illusion.'

I disagree - Hitsugaya stood up just as well as Ichigo to the Arrancar, and it would probably be a close match. But in the end, Ichigo would probably win, unless he is handicapped or Hollow Ichigo does something unexpected and hinders Ichigo more than helping him.

Its a battle between my two best characters! Lol.
But to be impartial, my best bet would be Ichigo.
One reason that made me feel this way is of course, the Jump Festa 2005 episode where Hitsugaya failed to beat Baishin with his Bankai(which he actually pulled out very soon, I wish I could see more of it lol), whereas Ichigo, whose spirit power had already been taken mostly(to what extent I don't know, but quite alot obviously), killed the fellow with his own Bankai.
Furthermore, if concluded that Byakuya is stronger than Hitsugaya, and Ichigo had already beaten Byakuya, then he'd beat Histugaya as well. Unless you're going to consider all the elements ice, etc again, that I have no idea. I just have a feeling that if Histugaya beats Ichigo, he's going to have another opponent: Hollow Ichigo. Now that's something.

I agree you in that point but the manga had something that explains why Hitsugaya couldn't beat that guy back then...

both their bankais are incomplete but hitsugaya has more forms and techniques ichigo on the other doesnt but that doesnt really matter. hitsu's has both speed, offense and defense, also the same with ichigo's but ichi's has more power so im going to say that ichigo win this one

I dont really agree with wat everyone's opinion..In common sense,its true dat ichigo has the edge in this battle,but let's consider bout the 2nd level/2nd form of Hitsugaya's Bankai..It might b true dat ichigo has all the speed when he's under Bankai,but what can he do amongst the pulse of ice prison dat's enuf to freeze even the greatest volcano?? Moreover,Hitsugaya's ability to summon Hyourinmaru is not limited as long as there's water vapour in the air..Hence,Hitsugaya might have a chance against Ichigo..Okay we can c dat perhaps ichigo's hollow form might appear in the midst of hitsugaya's victory,enchancing ichigo's speed and attack numerously..But remember dat Ichigo's hollow form is still consider under Berserk,as long as Hitsugaya manage to endure that duration with unlimited water vapour in the air,i dont see why hitsugaya will lose in instance..Plus ichigo's not as experienced as our Genius Hitsugaya..I would say that it's a win-win situation..Or rather a tie..Cos both might end up drenching after consuming much soul power..

no matter wat circumstances its juz tat ichigo could pwn him even if its freezing or wadeva. remember they are death gods. they could have resistance against few elements. and if hollow ichigo comes out. he might break the heck out of all the prisons ice with full getsuga tenshou. and tat getusga could banish them all at once. so ichigo wins as his the main hero and never ppl wins easily against main heroes

Well,sniperz might just be right about his judgement..But let's consider this point..Hitsugaya is known as the youngest captain in the Soul Society and the youngest Captain/Shinigami to be able to wield Bankai..I would consider that Ichigo takes the shortest time to wield Bankai,but because of this reasons,both of their bankai are still unstable..I believe that it'll be a tie even if hollow ichigo is out on the field..Hitsugaya hasn't show us the last of him yet..and as with the main heroes thingy,if it's always the main hero that win,how would the main hero improve to be better from his loss???Hitsugaya might lose,but no one says that Ichigo might win too..Nothing is impossible..I believe that Hitsugaya is not wat he seems to be because of his size..

eh i think it depends on alot of factors like If ichigo is stupid or not. It also kind of matters if ure talking about the anime ichigo or the manga ichigo. But yeah most likely Ichigo would win just because of his raw speed..Hitsugaya wouldnt have time to react

both of there bankai's are incomplete, just like in shikai mode you need various forms or techniques to enhance the ability of your zanpakto. ichigo's shikai only has one ability but thats all he needs, but his bankai has none but hitsugaya i believe has at least two. also i think both of there bankai's increase their speed but ichigo's more

I know that this question has already been in previous threads but do anyone think that hitsugaya can fly with his Bankai. If so he has the upper hand.

I know in that Bashin movie he would fall from the sky a few times not even using his bankai. But I dont really get that. ;)
