the parakeet

It's something that drove me nuts watching the anime, and I managed to completely put it from my mind until recently when I started reading the manga.
The 'parakeet' that Chad saves and takes care of? It's a frickin cockatiel!!!:sad I mean honestly... I know everyone is like 'whatever, it's a bird', but it drives me insane cause my dad used to breed cockatiels and a few friends are crazy bird people. So why did they never change that? At least in translation just refer to it as the proper breed. Am I the only weird one that noticed? (I highly doubt)

It's a translation issue. They chose to translate it like that because they were probably not bird-people like you, your father and your friends. In other words, they just had no idea and went "eh, WTH, it's a bird".

I can't think of any othe reason.

The translators were probably like: "Just a bird, nobody will notice if we translate it as a parakeet" or something. I'm not really that bothered that the breed of the bird wasn't correct. Since I know nothing about birds anyway. It's good that you caught that mistake, though.

They Probably changed it to parakeet so more people would understand what it meant.

Not many people know a great deal about diffrent types. but know what a parakeet is because its probably the most commonly known pet bird.

That may sound stupid. Im not very smart when it comes to animals.

when we caught up to the person who translated said word to parakeet he simply said "go away its just a silly bird." Of course this caused massive anger in the cockateil population, a representive of the cockateil's for proper translation front said it best "tweet." we will bring you further information as this story progresses.
