It's an epic poem about this Dante who is guided by the poet Virgil through various mythological places in the three books (Dante's Inferno is the most famous). Dante heads through Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise and talks about his experiences there.

Well, a poem in the same way Beowulf is a poem. Wikipedia has a pretty good summary on it's contents though.

Has anyone ever taken the popular test: Dante's Inferno Test?
It's interesting how they rate where you belong in hell or purgatory.

Hurray! I got purgatory!
I finished the book and it was very deep in italian politics
There's a lot of insight and study required to completely comprehend the Divine Comedy. In Italy it is studied throughout a three year period in highschool.
Sounds good, i will read it.
