i have a custom equalizer setting for each song, with 2 software DSP plugins running in winamp, along with an outboard clarifier in my stereo. plus my settings change based on the speakers i use.

Winamp has a plugin that automatically changes the equalizer for every different song that appears? That is awesome!

ok try this:

click on the equalizer window in winamp

click ON and AUTO (so both are on)

make your own EQ.

press presets, > save > save auto-load preset.

i use it to make all my songs sound about the same volume since they never do.

Nice Trick! Finnaly, now I know what the auto thing does now :). The only songs I have that are not in "Equal" volume are the ones in FLAC format.
