I prefered Mai HiME manga as well. Although the anime was superb, the manga was genius. Midori is far more "herself" than humanly possible, Mai is a lot more than the big-boobed emo girl (eh, wait, she's the same in the anime...) and so on and so forth.

I liked that they didn'y make the HiME's automatic friends, too. The rivalry between the Ori-HiME and the Anti-Orphan-Unit gave the story quite a lot of spice, too.

The manga would be good if it was drawn better though, but love both of them, can't seem to find a decent website to read mai-hime.

Manga is better. They made Yuichi actually cool in the manga with that bad-ass scar.

I know that but it was drawn a bit weird if you watch the anime to much.

You people thought the manga was better? You're all insane :D.

Sure, the manga was all 'action' from the word go, but there was a severe lack of character and plot development in the manga that ran through the first sixteen episodes of the anime that made those last seven episodes of the anime so sad.

The manga is better - it has more ecchi and sexiness in it...

Yes, the anime had more character development and that, because the whole idea was to do two completely different things with those two (stated in the manga).

Still, manga better IMO, since it actually made Yuuichi likeable.

While they were doing two completely different things, less character development = worse in nearly every case imo. The one exception I can think of is Kimi ga Nozomu Eien which worked really well on situation rather than characters, but the sadness in both the Mai HiME anime and manga is built on characters, they were just worse characters in the manga.

Plus, I didn't like Yuuichi in either anime or manga. Horrid Yuuichi stealing my Mai :D.

In other words, you are just jealus. Well, can't be helped...

And the manga was more "hinting" towards the reasons for sadness than the anime.

Also in the manga, they were giving more room for the ecchi and stuff (you can actually see Midori's breasts on one place O_O).

And the manga ending was by far more hilarious than the anime one.

"YOU JUST PRACTICE AT STAYING QUIET!"
-Mai and Natsuki at Yuuichi.

I've read the manga and i stopped watching the anime on the 6th episode. I like the manga better because it has more humour than the anime.
