the url needs to be wrapped in a {IMG} {/IMG} pair-you need to change the {} for [], as if i'd written it out verbatim yould wouldn't have seen it.
So {IMG}http://img221.echo.cx/img221/2271/gilgamesh8dk.jpg{/IMG}
produces(once you've swapped the brackets)
http://img221.echo.cx/img221/2271/gilgamesh8dk.jpg
