With a cocky look in his eye, Hayate strides into the Arena, eager to challenge this new trainer he's heard so much about. Upon actually seeing the behemoth, he wasn't quite as excited.
Geez, what have they been feeding this freak?
Still, Hayate was determined to show his strength. And so, with a motion of his hand, he signaled for Goober to bring it on.

Hayate. I've met him a few times before. His code of honor prevents him from being a bottom-dwelling scumbag like that OTHER shinigami. This is a decent teammate. Perhaps we can even work together to maximize efficiency.

I smile as I realize that this will, most certainly, not be easy. Then again, training never is. Fortunately for me, I doubt this tub of lard can't hide himself and act like a coward. I mean, it's one thing to practice deception - I'm all for it, actually. Doing so to an enemy is a great act. But doing so to an ally...is intolerable. There are some rules that even I will not break.
Hannyu tsuyosa, batsuro no atasaki!
I release my shikai, and it forms into its standard shape. I can feel its light weight in my hand, see the light gleam off the blade. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be using it.
I focus my power into augmenting my already formidable reiryoku. Doing so will surely give me the upper hand against this monstrous foe.

Without wasting a second, Hayate pulls his zanpaku-to from its sheath.
"Show your strength, Atsukaze-migoto!"
Gale force winds whip through the arena, and Hayate's zanpaku-to leaps forth, taking the form of a large, serrated edge masamune. The wind condenses into solidity and welds itself onto the surface of the blade, causing it to appear as though the blade is composed of a storm.
Reiatsu flows into his right hand as Hayate activates the legendary Relic known as Flame of Legend. His muscles bulge to twice their size, and flame leaps from the gauntlet into his zanpaku-to.
"The firestorm is coming, Goobleheim. Prepare yourself..."
(Hitting on 7-10, +3 STR, +2 Fire Damage)

A deep, thunderous laugh shakes the arena as Goober looks down at his opponents. Surely such small trivial challengers could do nothing to penetrate his impeccable defenses. No reason to wait around and chat though. Best to just attack.

Goober's attacks are powerful, but not too extremely hard to dodge, for Goober is quite the slow individual. Hayate's skillful footwork manages to dodge at least five of the monstrosity's swings.
However, the giant catches him with a sidelong blow, opening up a rather nice gash on Hayate's left shoulder. Blood flows freely down his left arm, but Hayate merely smiles at the giant.

Power flows away from Hayate's speed focus and into his strength focus as he performs the ancient art of Azusa-Yumi.

I smile as my friend Hayate took the blows from the large...thing. Having him here would surely make this easier on me.
I begin to cast a fire spell, one that would be less taxing for now. I'll save my stronger spells for later.

A large fireball shoots out of my right index finger, and hurtles at the large man. It appears to impact him...but to what extent?

The spell splashes on Goober's massive chest, not really causing much damage other than giving him a slight sunburn. Chuckling lightly, he goes to attack the puny one standing in front of him again.

Goober raises his zanpaku-to to the sky and proclaims a message for all to hear, "Endure, Kogetsu!" Immediately it transforms into a shield, latched upon his arm. Although the shield is a primarily defensive tool, in Goober's hands it couldn't look any deadlier.

Hayate's footwork serves him well as he dances past all of Goobleheim's attacks with ease. Once he had managed to evade all of them, he found that he was most definitely inside the giant's guard.
With a reiatsu-charged leap, Hayate hurdles directly for the giant's stomach, aiming to destroy his vitality with well-placed shots.

I smile as Goober is impaled by Hayate's fierce attack, losing his footing and his initiative. We've got some more time before he attacks again, I guess.
I decide to do my best spell, in the hope that it will at least scar him.

I focus intently on the task at hand - defeating this obese man. Concentrated entirely, I put as much reiatsu as I can muster into my hands. It begins to glow a pure, samite white, and energy radiates from it at an impossible rate.
Spirit of my flesh...

Strike down my opponent...
With your power let me kill!
The bolt of reiatsu shoots off, glowing incandescently. Surely THIS will hurt him.

SECOND TURN
I smile as I notice how quickly he is damaged when he is off-balance. It is time to use another spell. This one is another new one for me, but I know it'll turn out alright. This...is its grand unveiling to the world.
I spread my palms out to face my enemy. At the end of each fingertip, a large white ball begins to form. Not nearly as bright as the first spell, but still extremely bright.

The giant writhes around, pinned to a wall, blood gushing from his wounds. Hayate laughs at the spectacle, for although some might see it as pitiful, he merely sees it as comedic.
Not willing to waste any mercy on this overgrown Shinigami, Hayate launches himself at the tub of lard, unleashing a devastating series of blows, aimed at the giant's head.

The giant swings wildly at Hayate, but must be blinded by the blood in his eyes, because he misses every shot. This amuses Hayate slightly, but he decides that he must attempt to finish it now.
Of course, there could be no other recourse but to strike decisively.
A reiatsu-charged leap brings Hayate within striking distance of the giant's neck.

Immediately after his attack, Hayate feels his strength waning. Just in case he didn't manage to finish the mammoth, Hayate once again redirects his reiatsu flow into his strength focus.

As Hayate stands on the ground, back facing the giant, those watching the battle observe the fatty mass' head slowly slide from its shoulders. Unfortunately, they also had to experience the hulk of fat's blood spraying all over them as they stood and watched.
The medics quickly run to pick up the massive chunk of lard, and rush him to the infirmary.
By this time, Hayate is aware of what he has done. He figures that he should probably feel bad for liberating the jiggling wonder of his head, but for some reason, he is unable. This can probably be attributed to the fact that he knows the 4th squad will be able to return him to duty in no time flat...but still, he wonders why he has become so callous.
Turning to his teammate, Hayate smiles.
"Well, that was a rather fun battle. I must say...he's tough, but weak. Well, I hope to fight with you again someday."
With that, Hayate walks out of the arena, headed towards his division's headquarters.
If there's one thing I could use, it would be a shower.
A voice echoes in his mind momentarily.
"That was a rather large amount of flesh to dance through, Hayate. I do appreciate it...but I generally like to keep our dancing partners within the 220 pound range..."
Hayate laughed out loud at this, and continued on to his barracks, chuckling the entire time.

I smile as Hayate's sword cleaves Goober's head off at the base of the head. Immediately, gore begins spewing everywhere. I cover my face, and shield myself to the best of my ability. However, I still get covered in crap. This, however, does not dampen my enthusiasm. We have defeated the undefeated trainer, and the spoils of war are sure to be great. And I have learned much about my spells - their effectiveness against people of this magnitude, for sure.
...see ya.
I smile a bit and walk out of the Arena, looking for somewhere to wash my clothes and somewhere to bathe myself. I've got to get this crap off of me, it's beginning to smell like decomposing animal turds.
