This ought to be a very interesting tournament. I was hoping to face Hayate later on in this thing but this appears to be the only choice. We will have to take him down right here.
You'd better watch yourself carefully. He is a very skilled opponent.

The crowd screams his name as he strolls into the arena, his zanpaku-to already drawn, and propped against his shoulder in his signature nonchalant stance.
Hayate waves to the crowd and smiles broadly. Ahhhh, there was nothing quite like the exhilaration of being hailed by the masses.
As he looks across the arena, he sees his opponent.
Hmph, Yamada Taiki, eh? I haven't seen this one since the Storm of Steel...Well, I suppose he's as good of an opponent as any...

Drawing his zanpaku-to, Hayate bows slightly to his opponent, before calling his avatar forth.
"Show your strength, Atsukaze-migoto!"
As his zanpaku-to took the form of Shikai, Hayate was busy redirecting his reiatsu flow to complement his strength, rather than his speed.

Finally, Hayate finishes augmenting his strength by activating the Flame of Legend, the Shihouin Relic which is permanently bonded to him. As its effects spread throughout his body, he feels his muscles grow in size, which causes the loose sleeves of his robes to stretch comfortably around his arms.
He smiles softly.
This should be fun...

*Taiki watchs as Hayates sword changes form and Hayates muscles bulge to large proportions.*
This will be the chance I never got to fight him.
"Hakkei, Hitotsume!"
*Taikis sword shimmers and then begins to lengthen and curl back at the tip. The handle changes to a wooden looking substance and the blade has changed to a Silver-Grey color. His sword has a hook in the back of it and is as large as he is himself.*
What, you can't beat him without me?

*To add a bit more to his power, Taiki send a bit of reiatsu to his hat and it quickly shimmer with light and then fades back to normal.*

Hayate quickly decides that this fight could get out of hand if he doesn't neutralize his foe. With all of that strength and endurance Hayate senses in Taiki's reiatsu, stuff could get quite chaotic.
And so, Hayate springs at his foe. Quick, precise, yet devastating attacks against the Renegade's sensitive spots are the name of the game with Hayate tonight.

Very uncharacteristically, Hayate jumps at the sound of his blade slicing through the neck of his opponent.
Atsukaze! We wanted this to last for more than a second!
Tears fell from his avatar's eyes inside of his mind.
"Hayate...I don't know what came over me! I...I just...I wanted to dance through his flesh so badly! I...I went for where there was the most feeling! I'm sorry....do you hate me now?"
As Atsukaze was speaking with him, Hayate was attempting to put Taiki's head back on his neck, when he sighted it...the band of the Gray Shinigami...
Shit, he was a Gray, Atsukaze!
Atsukaze trembled slightly...
"You don't think...that Enigma...will be displeased, do you?"
Shaking his head slightly, Hayate assisted the medics lift Taiki onto a stretcher.
No, I don't think he will be, Atsukaze-chan. This is all acceptable behavior to the Gray Lord, I believe. As long as we grow in strength and do the tasks he selects for us...
Taiki had already exited the ring, and the crowd began to chant his name again, louder now that they had seen he had a compassionate side as well as a brutal side. The referee came over to him and signaled the victory, to the sounds of a frenzied crowd.
((Yamada Taiki gains 40 xp and 4/5 RPP, plus his 20g consolation prize. He will be retained on hand for any odd-numbered opponents that may occur.))
((Kobayashi Hayate gains 70 xp and advances to the next round. I will need another GM to assign me RPP.))
