Hey Kanadian. It's around 11:15 on Canada's east coast. It should've aired by now. Does anyone have it up on Youtube yet so I can put it in my topic?

This episode was by far the worst one yet. It pains me to say this, but Bleach may wind up with a pretty nasty dub. Chad was totally robotic, as if they chose to go with a computer generated voice, and Urahara was completely miscasted. Seems like Michael Lindsay was cast as Urahara and not as Kon, and he came off as utterly bored, exactly the opposite of Urahara's character. Aside from Bosch, the acting was pretty stale all around. I know Bleach has a good cast, so I'm beginning to think alot of the things I find bad about the dub are related to the directing and (very little) to casting.

I feel really bad to be saying all these negative things about the dub, but this episode really dissapointed me. I'm getting the feeling that the acting is being burdened. I remember hearing they're working especially hard on Bleach, but if they're working too hard, that's going to come through.
Another complaint, and I know I've got tons of them, was Shrieker's voice. They made the guy sound like an intellectual. I was waiting for him to ask Rukia for a spot o' tea. I may be exaggerating, but his main character trait, him being a "punky psychopath," didn't come through at all.
At least Bosch remains good, while Ruff fluctuates from nailing her lines to messing up every now and then.
ew michael lindsay is ugly he cant voice urahara fire him!

Oh man that episode was great!!! For those of you who say Chad was disappointing, I STRONGLY disagree. I think his VA got the part dead on and it will work out good later on in the series. It sounds a lot like the Japanese counterpart to me.
But...O...M...G...Urahara's...VA...must...DIE!!!!! !!!!!

My guess is that the problem is with the direction. It seems like they are putting more emphesis on pronouncing words and names correctly than they are on the actual delivery of the lines. Should they get their priorities straight I think the quality will improove immensely.

I liked this episode. Chad's VA realy suits him, even if it isn't as deap as the origional. The boy in the cockatail's VA also did very well, capturing incredibaly sumilar higher pitched and little kid sound. I didn't like the hallows voice much, compared to others that have been before it. But at least these hallows to have a destinct indevidual voice to each, which also reflects that they were once human. Uraha's voice was by far the weakest. However, this is just a preview, and hopefully when we here him speak properly (especialy while training Ichigo), he will sound alot better.
Overall, Bleach dub is deffinatly doing justice to the origional fans. Viz are doing their at most best to keep the content the same and the voices as close to the origional as possible. While some voices could be tweeked a little bit, I am still very pleased with the end result of the dub.

I'd have to say the dub is decent at best. Chad's voice was dead on, but his tone was too monotone as if no emotion was present.
As for Urahara, where did you all hear his voice? I didn't see him in any of the episodes. He appears a few episodes later, doesn't he?
UNLESS, it's the voice that appears after the credits...am I wrong? Because if THAT's Urahara's voice...........

Another pretty good episode. Rukia's VA still goes a little to girly sounding on occasion (I'm talking about when she's not TRYING to sound goody girly as a classmate) but she's doing pretty good. I really like Chad's voice, there were some areas where the VA got it dead on and had JUST the right amount of emotion to it, but there were indeed some areas where he sounded almost robotic. However this is the first episode with Chad that has been more than two lines so there is room for improvement. Not only did Uruhara's voice make me want to cry but half the stuff he said in the preview made me head desk. I really hope that VA pulls together as Uruhara is one of my favorite characters D:. Also, did anyone catch what Rukia said at the end of her chant? It didn't sound like the original blue fire crash down or whatever.
Edit: The cockatiel was PERFECT, I was really worried he wouldn't sound nearly as cute as in the original XD
Not bad episodes, voices is good too. Chad sounds differently, but he does not really have emotions in his voice so it alright.

I haven't been a dub-hater so far, and I'm out of the habit of hating dubs just because they're dubs. I actually started watching anime via dubs. Honestly, the Bleach dub so far has been pretty good, especially from the standpoint that it is a dub, and by being a dub you have certain limitations and disadvantages, like timing and translations.
First, I'll give it plus. Chad's voice, I think, is great. I think it's supposed to sound kinda robotic, though it was perhaps taken a little too far. Part of what makes Chad Chad is that he isn't a person who appeals to emotional outbursts all the time, and even in the Japanese version the most he raises his voice is during his attacks. It's supposed to make you feel like "Whoa, he's kinda odd." when he seems to take all this stuff happening to him without being super surprised.
The boy/bird's voice was great. Rukia and Ichigo were still pretty good, except a few parts. "We can use the bird." "Nothat'simpossible."
Now, to my major point... despite all of that...
Urahara. What the hell. Honestly, I'm pretty disappointed. Even if the director wants to take his own take on Urahara instead of following the Japanese VA religiously, there's just no explanation for this. I can not imagine the English VA doing some of the later scenes when Urahara becomes more prominent. I'll give him a few more episodes, but as it stands it's a major let-down, and just about everyone I've seen agrees on it.

It feels like they judged Urahara's character based on the preview, because in the original he's pretty serious there too, god I hate that voice though. Also a MASSIVE mistake no one has picked up on yet, Soukatsui (blue fire crash) is a way of destruction spell, they still called it bakudou, way of binding.
You can't mess that scene up accidently, this means for all spells they're deliberatly going to be called way of binding, and people who've only seen the dub aren't going to know, so this is going to majorly confuse them when later in the anime, when someone uses the same number spell but for a different technique and suddenly a different spell comes out, because both techniques are called way of binding now.

almost everything was fine for the dub, but chad kinda made me cringe a little, espeacially towards the end.

If you watch both versions of the episodes, you will notice that niether of the Chads get too enthusiastic; so that kinda kicks out him being a "robot". As for Urahara, the voice sounded goofy enough for me, but he seemed pretty tired...

No, you're right, it doesn't matter that hadou is now the same as bakudou. I bet no-one would mind if bankai was changed to be the same as shikai either. or if the quincys were referred to as Soul Reapers.
hint: it matters 'cause they are different :P

I agree. They messed up the translation for Bakudo and Hadou. For English viewers, they could care less because they don't know what it means. However, for people like me, it's a bit irksome because we know that Bakudo and Hadou are not the same.
And what I said about Chad earlier was wrong. He is supposed to be rather emotionless in this episode. Urahara, however, still doesn't sound right. I'll give him a few more chances, but I'm not too optimistic. Urahara is this frivolous playful character, but in the english dub, he sounds rather too serious and rough.

The links for youtube are odd. The first and third one work okay, but the second part is coming up as only 47 seconds. I can't find another link to it or the torrent for it. If anyone else finds anything I'd really appreciate if they'd post it. ;3;

Chad's voice was pretty good I'd say as at this point he shouldn't have too much emotion. Yuichi's was excellent.
As far as Kisuke goes, I don't think there was enough to completely write him off yet... we'll have to see how it goes.
As far as Bakudou and Hadou go, it's yet another thing that will bug me... and I'll complain about it. But as guyklc pointed out, it's not really something that English vieweres will pay much attention to, so I doubt that many people will even pick up on it.

They will when in the dub they call the exact same sounding spell and number of the technique, and suddenly a different spell comes out, because its not a bakudou technique, people watching the english version will be wondering why the hell, exactly the same command is bringing out a different technique.

Maybe in your point of view, but not mine. Bakudo. Haduo. Never really cared for the spells, if you ask me. Besides, Bleach is on its 4th episode in the dub, anyway. Just give it some time and chances are they'll use haduo. All right, Sciky?

The Bleach dub is the best dub I've seen in my life. They hit Chad's voice dead on, it was perfect except it could've had a bit more emotion.

Well I didn't know that they were different.I watched the subbed version and I didn't know that they were different. I didn't even know that bakudo meant 'way of binding'. So how would anyone who only watches the dubbed version know?
Don't sweat the small stuff.

The episode was okay dub wise. Though, I am really liking Chad's voice a lot. Ichigo's voice is okay and needs some getting used to.
