This isn't as much a problem as it is an inquiry. I used to use Real One as a media player, then switched to Windows Media Player. Now I use Divx which is just awesome. However, when I watched clips longer than 10 mins on the first two, the video skipped and the sound lagged behind, however on Divx, they are always in sync w/ each other. Is there a reason for this? (other than "they suck")

mmm...well, they are both quite bloated pieces of software compared to divx player or better still (imho) VLC player. Media player should give smooth playback on most files though, given sufficient resources; I run WMP on win 2000 on an old duron 800 and never misses a frame; what background processes have you got running/what hardware?

Mmmm... is it all clips over 10 mins, or is it a certain type of video file? There are a great many different mpeg 4 algorithms; download a copy of gspot and get info on the files; they may be xvids or something else. If they are all the same type, it points to a missing codec or incorrectly installed codec.

is it the codecs?
